  1. I am doing better with the meds. They told me to stop metformin and celexa. Now I just got to work on bp and I hope I get off it soon. I have been taking children's benadryl to help sleep. I don't regret it cause way I was going was terrible so even all this learning the new ways is better than my old ways

Good to know. There's still hope for me.

  2. Went to doc today.....and since my journey began August 1st I am down 67 pounds, and 11 pounds since my surgery December 11th. I made it to the 3's and I am so happy. Cant wait to hit the 100 pound lost mark.

Great news! I'm only down about 38 since starting last July. But 26 of that loss happened since my surgery on the 10th! I've been averaging about a two pound loss per day, without trying. But I'm not hungry. I have to force the liquid "meals" and Water drinking. Are you having trouble with that? I'm dealing with nausea and gas too.

  3. No meds is that with you taking meds? It sounds perfect but it could be dropping below that with meds ! Glad I reminded you! I have a blood pressure machine on the way! ;)

I'm taking bp meds. And cholesterol meds and blood thinners. I asked my surgeon at the hospital if I could quit my meds. He said he wanted me to continue until my after surgery appointment on the 27th. So that's what I'm doing. How did your appointment go?

  4. Hello all. I am a December gastric bypass post op. I originally had the gastric sleeve surgery on September 2nd 2013. I was having horrible acid reflux that was resulting to me aspirating gastric acid almost every night. So, I just had a revision surgery to the gastric bypass on December 10th 2013.

Welcome! I'm so sorry you've had to endure two of these surgeries. I hope all goes well for you this time.

  5. It may be too low! You better be careful with that do you have a blood pressure machine at home?

That's a great idea! I don't know why I didn't think of it myself. I checked it this morning and it's 110/86, which is lower than it was pre-surgery with bp meds. I'll email my doctors about it today. It was in the normal range in the hospital without meds. Thanks!

  6. I need to explain. I'm up to 7 minutes on my treadmill at 2 miles per hour. I'm trying to add a minute each day. One day I'll increase the mph. When I get out I have to have someone with me and I'm out of energy pretty quickly. With this fat burning ketosis I could sleep all day everyday. But that would slow my recovery I believe. I'm never hungry. But I'm staying up with Water and liquid meals. Let me know about your doctor visit. Mine isn't scheduled until the 27th.

  7. That sounds very familiar. I've only had two bms since surgery on the 10th. MOM helped me with one yesterday. I too have pain on my right side, lower down. I also have bruising on that area. I'll ask about it at my two week followup on the 27th if not sooner. Everyday it gets a little better. But I still have the same pains I described earlier. The good news is that I've lost 24 pounds since surgery on the 10th! And I'm still averaging about a two pound per day loss. The ketosis keeps me sleepy. But I still hit the treadmill everyday and go outside at least a short time each day.

  8. Had a really rough day at work. My boss has made this super hard on me, including asking me to postpone my surgery when i had it scheduled last month, and today He was just down right cruel. Criticizing my work, asking "what's wrong, too hungry? " Insinuating that my diet has made me incompetent. I cried for over two hours. He knows my surgery is on Friday. And that I am stressed and scared. I don't understand how he can be so mean.

Harassment and hostile work environments are against the law where I live. No one should have to endure either. Is there a legal or personnel authority you could contact?

  9. It is a glorious feeling!! Holidays for those who have had thw surgery and those whom have yet to be. I am a week done and eventhough I had some issues..it was worth it! I am happy to have given myself anothwr life and look forward to being healthy. I was unfortunately having my surgery during a nurses strike. But I am.home and recovering. Was not expecting it this hard or really boring....

Me too! And for those who think this was the easy way out, they have NO IDEA! And for their sakes, I hope they never do. But I could always appreciate a little more compassion from them! ;-)

  10. My pain's still there. But it's mostly incision and"gut" pain. Not gas pain. I can again recommend this RNY to all who need it. I hope my posting's haven't dissuaded any here from going through this. Please remember to do everything recommended by your medical staff. Especially the pain meds. Walk when they say. Lay on the pain side cause gas rises and moves through you better that way. At home, do what they told you to do. And a few days later, hopefully sooner than me, you'll feel like you can recommend this again too!

  11. I'm finally home. Yay! I got to shower before I left the hospital. There were complications with mine. But I'm on the mend now. Gas pain: walking helps, iv pain meds help, laying on the pain side helps because gas rises and it helps move through the system. They gave me xrays to find blockages. They made me drink contrast solution. The contrast solution causes diarrhea. I think I'm finally over the diarrhea. At home I'm trying to stay hydrated, keep up my full liquid diet, keep walking and ankle pumps. But mostly I'm resting. My pain is still around 3 on the 10 scale. I hope I feel better before two weeks from now. I hope we all do.

  12. Hope all went well today!!

Thanks for asking. All was not well. I'm still in the hospital. Surgery was at 7:30AM 12/10/2013, and I'm still here. The gas pain was 10 out of 10 and had me crying like a baby. I'm not a cryer. But I haven't had this kind of pain for almost twenty years. Last time was when I ruptured a disc in my lower back. Please everyone pay attention to this: USE THE IV PAIN MEDS! Don't try to tough it out; they can't figure it out and you'll be hating life and this RNY decision if you don't have the pain managed. I had other complications related to my heart conditions. But pain MUST be controlled before anything else! I'll update my status again this weekend. I do appreciate all your thoughts and prayers!

  13. My surgery was scheduled for 830 this morning and I had to be there at 539. Drove to my brothers last night and went it bed at 10. Felt good, no problems. Then I was unable to go to sleep. Midnight, 1am, 2am. By 230 I was in an awful sweat, my pulse was racing, and my stomach felt sore. It was like dumping but I don't know why I had been on my liquid diet. So by 330 it was not any better so I texted my friends and brother who we're coming that I was not going. I just didn't feel like it was safe given the way my stomach and heart were doing. Later in the morning I think the stomach may have been gas but not sure. I called the hospital to cancel but was unable to get anyone until 630. Then the doctors nurse called me about 930 to check on me but I was trying to rest and had the ringer off. I called them back she left a message to reschedule but then I had to leave her one too. I hope they can reschedule it before the end of the year as I've met my deductibles. But it's been an awful day still have not slept. I don't know if it was a panic attack or nerves but when she reschedules me I'm going to see if I can get an Ativan or something for the night before. I even had the bear my sister gave me when I had pancreatitis in 2009 that plays "don't worry be happy" with me! Hope none of you experience this and all goes well.

I'm so sorry Andrew. I hope it does work out for you before year end.

  14. OK I am two days away from my surgery on Wednesday December 11th. I am nervous only because I don't know what to expect as far as pain. The unknown is what is making me nervous but then again I think that is how it is for everyone. It seems real to a point and then it seems like a dream..does that make sense? I am waiting for the hospital to call me to let me know when I need to be there.

Mine is in the morning too and I've had the same concerns. A coworker had it done 4 years ago, same procedure, had no pain and no pain med! My doc has already told me I'll have a pain pump in my IV and already gave me a prescription for when I get home. Also have me something else to take twice a day when I get home but it's not for pain it's for healing or an antibiotic I can't remember.

I think it's different for everyone. I'm praying you and I are pain-free and on our way to a healthy life here this time tomorrow! Another weird thing is my doc put me on a liquid diet for 2 weeks, not just two days

I've been on Liquid Protein for two weeks, and just Clear Liquids today. I too hope and pray for our success tomorrow!

I totally agree with you. My surgery is less than 24 hours away. And allowing myself to be totally under anesthetic . . . I've never liked that lack of control, or the loss of memory of that time. I know the anesthetic is for the best. I know this surgery is for the best. I need it to help reduce my need for medications. But before that, I need it so I won't have the problems that require those medications. So, for now I'm just focusing on the plan: Clear liquids only today, staying busy, completing the daily projects I have to do today, etc. I'm trying to let tomorrow happen as it should. I don't know if that helps you or not. I hope it does. But it's all I can do.

  16. I know this is the pre-op forum but ya all feel like family. I am hurting. I think it is bloating and such. I know this may not be a good topic, but I need help with going to the bathroom. Anyone can help me please. I just want to poop!!! I have taken mom (milk of magnesium).

For what it's worth, there are several good threads on the Post Gastric Bypass Forum. I saw one on Poop and I started one for December 2013 surgeries. Although I think topic specific threads would be more interesting than my December 2013 surgeries thread.
