    NEED HELP!

Did you get any plan or instructions from your surgeon? What are you eating mostly? Are you getting enough Protein and fluids?
  2. Chubbsey1 me too, I'm excited to see if this Saul show is any good. I loved his character on BB.
  3. GNC Lean ready to drink in strawberry are very good. Also lactose free. I did not care for the chocolate flavor.
  4. @@bellabloom in addition to upping your Protein I would also suggest that you try to increase your calories as they seem quite low. This will be easier to do in the next few weeks as you get a bit further out from surgery. Also, patience! The weight will come off no worries
  5. Not a fan of the smooth move tea.
  6. Scrubs was a funny show, I loved it when it was on tv
  7. Sounds like we are talking about the stitch used to close the abdominal wall. Give it 3 to 4 or so weeks to pop out. A heating pad REALLY helps with the pain in that spot.
  8. 220 two weeks before surgery 9/8. Currently 161 pounds. No regrets! There's no way I could've gotten back to this weight without the surgery.
  9. What is call the midwife like? I have orange is the new black on my list for sure! Another excellent one was House of Cards.
  10. Drew Carey? Al Sharpton? Question marks since I'm not sure if either of them ever "came out" as having WLS. Maybe others can confirm either way.

    Alcohol?

The point of this forum is for all to share thoughts and opinions. No need to take any one so personally. This is just my opinion and what I think.

    sweet tooth

No sugar added or protein hot chocolate usually works for me or else my fruit calcium chews.
  13. They pump you full of iv fluids in the hospital. It would probably be stranger if you didn't gain a few pounds while there. Don't worry, give it a few days it will come down, no problem.

    I failed myself yet again...

Jules you are wrong. Many, many people are anxious before surgery and doctors routinely give antianxiety meds and/or sedatives before surgery. It is completely normal.

    Low BMI and Gastric Sleeve

If you feel hungry on day 3, it is very likely acid reflux not hunger. This can and should be controlled with daily ppi or acid reducer or, in my case I was on both. My experience was zero hunger on liquids.

    Alcohol?

Brain damage? I haven't heard that one yet. I wonder what the theory is there. Does anyone know?

All plans are different. Mine did not allow any pudding, yogurt or Jello until after 3 weeks. The best thing is to follow your doctors instructions. You will not likely feel hungry at all in the early weeks, so it is not hard to stick to the liquids. 2 weeks worth of medicines should be enough. At first you will just be sipping liquids all day. Just do the best you can. It's more important to not allow yourself to get dehydrated than it is to worry about Protein for the first few days.

Oh just thought of one more! Get the adult liquid Tylenol extra strength. It comes in a cherry flavor. Works REALLY well, I was able to start switching over to it from the narcotics on about day 3. It was nice to be able to stay pain free AND see straight at the same time

Tip: if you get a little sick after taking the liquid pain meds try walking quickly around your room or house. I found this to help with gas, upset stomach and just in general. Also, the breathing machine works. Use it as directed. I think they call it a Spiro meter? Eta: I am right on target as far as I can tell. Down 57 lbs since 9/8. I stay on program 99.9% of the time but I do not watch my fat intake at all. I do eat low carb. Occasional wine (1 or 2 glasses per week, if I feel like it.)

I didn't travel so I can't offer anything there. I think everyone's style is different. For sure stay on top of your pain meds, take them exactly on schedule and take your nausea meds with them. Go very slowly and follow your eating plan exactly, no exceptions in the first several weeks especially. Buy several types of liquids to choose from at first since you don't know what will work best for you. Same get a variety of Protein drinks to select from and get some Soups onhand. You will feel fine to go out to the store after a day or two though so no need to go crazy buying huge quantity or anything. You will be fine, you're right. It's not that bad, just put your head down and get through it.
  21. Yes I have had some hip pain as well. I am 4 months out and it seems to have started about a month or so ago. I hadn't thought that it might be related to wls. Now I am wondering. Hmmm

    What are your best tools?

Yes, bring foods you don't need to heat. I eat in my car 2-3 days every week on the road. Everyday I pack an insulated lunch bag with the reusable freezer packs to keep things cold. For food I pack a P3 Protein pack (I like the turkey/cheddar/almond) for my main lunch, plus I will usually bring a mini-babybel cheese in case I'm extra hungry for lunch. And sometimes a Protein Bar just in case. I like to add a small bottle of G2 as well. A lot of times I end up bringing the extra Snacks back home, but I feel better knowing I have something more if I want it.
  23. They have to weigh you day of surgery so that they can properly calculate how much medicine, anesthesia etc to give you. Insurance has nothing to do with it.
  24. Calories are needed for energy and body function. It's not just about feeling full. Your obsession with calories is a little strange and seems possibly unhealthy. Please don't take this the wrong way, but I wonder if you should really be considering surgery at this point in your life.
