    Everyone exercises?

Try different things until you find something you like. That will help you stick to it.
  2. Yes, just order a water when you get there. No more questions!

    Getting Spooky

Good luck, don't worry! This is an exciting time
  4. I understand what you are saying but the fact is that she needs to lose 50 pounds not 20. For someone that is struggling, 50 pounds might as well be 150. I don't see a problem with it and feel it's really between her and her doctor. Aside from that, she stated that she has decided to wait and try diet and exercise again. I disagree with the tone of your post, I feel it dismisses the struggles and health challenges of anyone that isn't "super" obese. Medical views are really changing on this issue and are finding this surgery can be safe and effective for lower bmi obese individuals (OP is at a 29 bmi).
  5. Yep, I too was a soft scrambled egg with american cheese. Was so tasty, took me forever to eat half of it. Could not finish it!
  6. I think we are now talking about two entirely different issues here.

    New face.. New Make up

I think quality products help for sure! Particularly with things like foundation and eye shadows. Go to macy's and choose one of the makeup counters where you like the looks of the products and ask for a makeover. This is what they are there to do! You can access Bare Minerals in Macy's if you are interested in trying it (the foundations are really good) or you can try Mac, Clinique or one of the other brands if you prefer. The thing is that the makeup artists in there actually work for the cosmetic company and so they are very educated and familiar with the products they are using. In sephora/ulta they work for the store and not the cosmetic line. One thing I will say is that it is VERY important to invest in good makeup brushes! This makes ALL the difference. Good brushes are not cheap but they last for years and years. Like 10 or 20 years if you care for them properly. Just clean occassionally with a little shampoo and let air dry. Good luck, this is something you should definitely do. You are worth it! :)
  8. I don't have any insight to add, but I just wanted to say hello and welcome. I'm so sorry that you have had such a tough time with your surgery. Hopefully others will jump in here, too.
  9. There is a current thread entitled "amazed at the damage the lap did" or something like that. Suggest looking at it to get an idea of what is possible. Yes there are possible serious complications with sleeve as well, but it sounds like you have the idea that lap band is something that it is most definitely not. Good luck, speak with Dr Nicholson about it. He is an excellent surgeon.
  10. Ask for something for your nerves!
  11. Lap band is just as serious of a surgery and lifestyle change. Please don't think of it as a lesser alternative. 50 pounds is reasonable and worthy of needing help to lose and maintain the loss. Also a few have implied otherwise but this surgeon is very highly regarded and is one of the top surgeons in Dallas in case anyone is wondering.
  12. I'm not a fan, but to be fair I have seen Dr Oz praise surgery as an option for obesity treatment on his show where he featured the sleeve. Lisa Lampinelli and her husband at the time were guests on the show (both had sleeve procedures).
  13. We do it like @@JamieLogical described. I don't expect my husband to follow the same diet as me, nor do I think that would be fair if the tables were turned. There are literally thousands of bariatric friendly / low carb recipes available for free on the Internet and many many cookbooks as well. Do some research, you will be pleasantly surprised at the variety of tasty foods that will be available to you, even after surgery.

"picky eaters" - my pet peeve

Agree. Those same posts annoy me too. A lot. @@BLERDgirl I am actually the exact same way with carrots. Something about the cooking them, I actually got sick from them once when forced to eat them as a child. Eeeek

    Jumping to Conclusions!

I'm pretty sure we have established that there was no happy meal consumed. Carry on! :P

    Can I be alone?!?

You will be fine. Stock up with 3 or 4 days worth of supplies and fill your prescriptions ahead of time.

    Jumping to Conclusions!

Don't let one or two ruin your experience. The vast majority of people on here are helpful and compassionate. The ones jumping all over you are most likely reacting to their own issues anyway.
  18. This sounds like an unhealthy situation. He seems to have a very strong personality/opinions. That is fine, but you have to be very careful not to let someone with this personality type step all over you and overwhelm you. Be straightforward and firm with him.
  19. I hate them too. Tried the sugar free vanilla, which was terrible, and the sugar free salted caramel, which was merely bad. I usually like artificial sweeteners just fine so I don't think it's that for me. On a side note, I also hated the PB2 that everyone seems to love.

    My date is set 3/24/15

Hang in there, you can do this! Where in Dallas are you having your surgery?
  21. Different people do it differently. Some log everything, always. Others only log if they feel they are getting off track. What does your doc/nut recommend?
  22. You have lost 20 pounds already, that's a very decent loss for someone coming off a band revision. Especially considering you only had 50 to lose. That's already nearly half your extra weight. I would focus on following my program and getting my exercise etc and give it some time before thinking about another surgery. It seems a bit premature for all this drama and feeling betrayed. Just my opinion. Good luck either way.
