    Newbie ????

Walk as much as possible as soon as you can, and don't worry! Good luck to you :)

    No pcp!

Your best bet is to ask your bariatric doc for a referral to a pcp for the clearance/letter.

    SO VERY EXCITED

Thank you for sharing that. Your care and concern must be such a help for that family. When you said Seven Mile Beach it made me wonder if you live near Negril, Jamaica? Also, congratulations on reaching the 100's!

    really struggling

Liquid flows through the sleeve. You will feel full very very quickly when you start on solid foods.

    Help

Lean meats always work well, chicken, turkey, some cuts of beef such as filet or flank steak, eggs etc..

    Hiring an attorney

It depends on the circumstances, for example in the case of a band revision.

    Spanking by mentor

It's your life, but a week out does seem awfully early for French fries. Just from a healing standpoint. I was still on liquids only at that stage.

    Confused

At day 22 I could only eat 1/2 of an egg and it took forever to get that much in. That could be the issue here.

    Confused

It is possible. Eggs can be difficult in the early weeks, anyway.
  10. I received 2 injections while in the hospital but nothing after for blood thinners. I had the circulation boots on during and right after, but nothing was ordered or prescribed for compression after I was discharged. You will get all your rx meds before surgery. The hospital provides an abdominal binder to wear. This is essential, make sure you ask for it if they don't mention it. Helps a lot! Good luck :)
  11. Yes it seems possible that she may be thinking of the bypass. The only absorption issue I am aware of with sleeve is b12, which is easily supplemented.
  12. Agree. I think at 29 it's time to take responsibility for yourself and stop blaming mom for everything. It seems like her surgery may have brought out some old resentments in you. Maybe talking it out with either her or a therapist could be helpful. You are the only one that controls how you eat now. Time to own that.
  13. @@VSGAnn2014 is right. The loss is steady more than super fast. You don't have to explain anything since you will be eating small, healthy portions and exercising regularly.
  14. Eggs and cottage cheese are good for this stage (not necessarily together)

    Backed Up!

Try the cherry flavor milk of mag, the taste is not bad at all and it works

    Fast food favorites?

I got into the habit of packing an insulated bag with p3 Protein pack, mini babybel, maybe a Protein Bar and a nice cold drink. I don't always eat everything but it stays cold all day with the freezer pack in there so anything I don't use I just keep for the next day. Grocery stores are another great option for lunches on the go.

    Sensitive to the Sun?

Yes it is sun poisoning aka photo allergy. This happened to me for the first time in my life when on vacation last month. It is not a burn but an allergy, that's why it can appear on covered areas. In my case I was wearing insect repellent so I have been assuming it was related to that but who knows? In my case my eyes swelled up too.
  18. @@Swampdoggie I know you didn't ask but, I too have extreme nausea with percocet but am able to take vicodin (hydrocodone) without feeling sick. Regarding marijuana, there should not be any groggyness the next day.
  19. Suggest stopping by the local supermarket when you get there. You will be eating very small meals for the first few months, you can buy enough to last you the week (or however long the trip) and eat dinners in your room. This is what I did, I traveled every week beginning at week 4 after surgery.

    Carbonation

I was given the okay to drink prosecco (basically italian champagne). I've not had any problems and it's a lower calorie/sugar option for occasional alcohol.
  21. "Stomach surgery" and leave it at that. Lying is probably a bad idea.
  22. The short answer is that the self pay price covers all of the tests that go with the sleeve as well as nutritional counseling and follow up visits and care. Insurance covers the other stuff.
  23. The top sellers are Cookies and cream and the cookie dough. I also like the lemon ones (sorry kathy!) Agree the s'mores flavor is gross/too sweet. Also, gag on the cinnamon roll.
  24. I still don't think you are understanding. Either way if you took the time to read the thread you would realize that she is not doing the surgery at this time.
  25. @@Cleo's Mom I don't think you are understanding what she is saying about the hernia repair. What she is saying is that the option was to self-pay for the sleeve, while also undergoing hernia repair that she needs. The portion of the surgery that is for hernia repair is covered by her insurance, and she would pay out of pocket for the sleeve. The difference between the two is only a few thousand dollars. This is offered by all of the top surgeons in Dallas and other places as a more affordable option to self pay for some people (those with insurance that are in need of hernia repair). Also, as I mentioned above, the doctor she was planning to use is one of the top surgeons in Dallas, is very highly regarded, and has done literally thousands of sleeves. He knows what he is doing.
