  1. I'm sorry you're having a hard time. I understand being bored. I was bored out of my mind the first time around with my band. It made it that much harder to not focus on how flippin hungry I was then. I would like to say that it will get better soon but I don't know how you handle pain. Besides the fact that everyone says this.

    I am booked

Congrats. I hopefully will be sleeved around the same time. Good luck!
  3. Thanks for the responses and positive words of encouragement. I talked with the dietician. She said I am doing a lot of things right I'm just not getting enough protein in for my needs. She said one of the doctors are going to remove the lapband from their sugery list and place removals on it since that is what they are starting to see. I have to up my vitamin intake as well. She said that she is seeing people have poor weight loss with the Lap band and I would probably do really well with the sleeve or RNY. Now I just have to wait until my records go to the office I will be getting the removal in and I can see the surgeon. I havent even chosen a surgeon yet. I am so ready to not feel tired, discouraged, and like a failure anymore.
  4. Thanks all. I meet with the dietician tomorrow and will probably go over some of this then. I will most likely meet with a surgeon in the next week or two. I am so discouraged despite my trying to work with the lap band. I did not want to be a failure. I get so depressed around eating and anxious wondering if I'm going to vomit or have something stuck there for a while. I am more focused on food now then I was before surgery in the first place. Life shouldn't have to be this way.
  5. Thanks for the responses. It is definately helping me know when I should schedule the surgery once I get approval.
  6. My commute is really short since I live down the block from work. The only time I might be sitting is when I'm in a room watching confused patients. Otherwise Iam pretty much on my feet for 8 hours.
  7. My weight is 234-236 depending on the day. I believe my band slipped since I really can't get meats and most veggies in without feeling stuck and or vomit. I have grown tired of feeling this way. Really sad since I really don't actually eat much but having to eat more carbs because they go down easier. Ohh and liquids like soup. If its too chunky that doesn't work well either. I would have been rolling about a month ahead of now but my last surgeon hasn't released my records, so I have to go get them. The waiting really sucks since my insurance has no required 6 month recorded diet or anything like that.
  8. I am in the process of getting a revision from the lap band. I had 4 weeks off then but I thought that was too long then. I was feeling much better at about 2 weeks. I stopped taking the pain meds after about a week, I was in very minor pain by then. I don't think I can last 4 weeks staying home.
  9. Your smile is so much brighter now than it was. Congrats and I hope I can look half as ood as you do at 7 months out.

    Anyone from Minnesota

I'm from the metro area. Not sure when I'll get the sleeve. Hopefully sometime Dec/Jan
  11. The 10% weightloss that I have heard of is after you get approved in a program to have surgery/ That is only to help shrink the liver and make the fat easier to work through. I am sorry your doctor isnt supportive of you and what you want to accomplish for yourself. The first thing I did was contact my insurance and ask them which centers they will accept my surgery from. Then I went to the informational and the center told me everything I needed to do before I had the surgery. I did those things and we picked a date. Good luck.

To Tell or Not to Tell?

I have had weightloss surgery before 2009 I was banded. I only tell certain people because unless they are severly obese they just don't understand. All of us have will power to some extent but when no matter what you do you are still hungry, it gets frustrating. I even worked out like crazy and did P90X for a month to lose some weight and nothing was really happening. I say just feel it out with people and maybe only tell a few close friends that arent gossipers to spread it around to the negative people. Although with you losing so much weight so fast they will begin to wonder whats up. Hoped I helped some.

    1 year post op!

Thank you for showing your amazing progress. I am in the process of getting a revision and this photo is making me feel excited. Also you look Amazing!
  14. I am in the process of having my first appointment. I was wondering besides the mandatory weight loss if you had to do all the other things for the revision that you had to do for the band? Will I need another psych eval and blood test? Will I need another chest x-ray? I am currently waiting for my previous surgeon to send my info to the new one. How long was your wait from first appointment to your revision? Thank you for your answers.
  15. Hello all,I am new here and just finished the siminar. I am awaiting a call to get an appointment with a dietician and surgeon. I was banded in 2009 and lost 25 pounds before I had complications with getting stuck. I went back and forth for months to correct the issues. Now I am tired of worrying everytime I eat if I am going to have problems or not. If I try a piece of meat, even if I chew it well it feels stuck. I can't even eat for a few hours after I wake in the morning for fear of getting stuck. Even if I try cottage cheese or applesauce it gets stuck in the morning. So on to my questions. 1: How long from your first meeting did you get sleeved? 2: Did anyone have their insurance deny the procedure? 3: How has your life improved compared to the band? Thanks for your responses and I hope to come here to share my story once I get sleeved!
