  1. Was sleeved on Nov. 18. Here I am, 5 days out and on the left incision, I get a burning sensation every time I move. I've limited my walking because if this. I find myself leaning forward to help relieve that pain which in turn ends up causing my back to hurt. Anyone else had this same feeling?

I am now 9 weeks out but had the burning sensation from about weeks 2-4. I was told by my surgeon it's all the muscles & nerves healing. The pain was around my largest incision where they removed my stomach from. I had trouble driving comfortably and bending over, but it does go away! Your body has gone through a lot lately & is still healing. Also, just FYI, hold your stomach with a pillow when sneezing, that hurt the worst!

  2. I am so glad to hear I'm not the only one going through this. I'm 1.5 months post-op. It's gotten a tad bit better in the past week. At least now I can put food in my mouth! It's so hard to get over the mental aspect of food. Now that I can put food in my mouth again I find myself taking a plate and trying to put as much on it as I did before. 3 bites later and I'm done. I still rely on my Protein shakes (even those turned me off for a while) to get my Protein in. I wonder how I will ever get the protein in daily without the shakes.< /div>

I'm with you! I too am slowly starting to eat more now as not everything sounds horrible anymore. Like you, a few bites and I'm done (which from what I understand is normal for now). The mental aspect of this surgery has definitely been the hardest for me. I'm trying to change 30 years of thinking in a short amount of time; some days are harder than others. Hang in there, we can do this!

  3. Seems like everything I put in my mouth makes me nauseated! So i get nauseaos' date=' I think I am tired of trying to eat. But then im thinking what I can eat to make me feel better:(.[/quote']

This is such a huge change for me considering the way I ate before! I know surgery was the best thing for me, I just want to get to where I love my sleeve. Right now it's a love/hate relationship Lol

  4. Sleeved on 9/19/13

    DOS (also highest weight): 254

    CW: 214

    Down 40 pounds!

Currently having trouble with getting Protein in, there is only 1 shake I still like and it only has 15 grams per serving. food intake is not so good, average about 300 calories a day. Feeling a little sluggish, but went back to work recently so that keeps me going!

Best of Luck to all my fellow September sleevers!

  5. I'm with you. food really doesn't have any appeal any longer. It is literally just nourishment at this point. I'll be 21 weeks tomorrow. I had a little issue with eggs before surgery' date=' but now, no way. Also, I do get these little episodes every now and then where I feel as if I could get sick. I've mostly noticed it in the mornings, a good hour or so after I've had anything to eat. It passes after a few minutes and I haven't actually gotten sick yet, but it's hard because sometimes I'm in the middle of a treatment with one of my patients and can't really leave the room![/quote']

I used to love eggs and now it doesn't seem like I'll ever want to eat them again! It's funny cause I'll see a commercial for a big juicy burger and it looks so good, but then I can't imagine being able to eat the thing! Lol

  6. I am 6 weeks out and experiencing an aversion to food I never thought possible! I was prepared to have no appetite; however, even the mere THOUGHT of eggs literally makes me gag! My gag reflex was pretty bad pre-op, but I've noticed it's worse now post-op. The smell of certain foods makes me gag too. Anyone else experience this change? Sometimes I gag and even vomit a little. When I do eat (not much), I'm able to keep it down so I don't think anything is stuck in there, I'm just worried I should be eating more at this stage and not feeling so "blah."

  7. Was 5 weeks out on Monday and am needing some menu ideas. I am curious to see see what others at this point are eating and their menu. I have been on soft foods now for one week and have been given the ok as of today to advance and try foods as tolerated. Please share your menu. Thanks!

I will be 4 weeks out tomorrow and am on soft foods. Right now, Greek yogurt is my favorite. It goes down nice & smooth, 3 oz and 8 grams of Protein. I start the day with that, and then for lunch or dinner might have an ounce of chicken breast with green Beans, or a turkey slice with a little bit of cheese. I haven't branched out too much yet, I'm sticking to the things I know go down well. I like Soups too, minestrone (without the noodles), veggie Soup, Soups with chicken & Beans.< /p>

  8. yep I got one that's indented as well I don't know but when I woke up me seen this mess he put liquid bandage on I'm like really I should have had a plastic surgeon come in smh like I'm hoping they fade I had cuts from my gal bladder removed but its like he ain't care how the scar heal uggggghh .. But I will live have no choice lol

I hope they get it fixed for you ASAP!!

  9. I'm glad you asked this! I've been freaked out about a pain in my left side somewhat close to the incision site as well. Same issue...when I sit anyplace too long or I get up or twist too much it hurts. It's not really painful' date=' it's more like a twinge, but it concerned me.[/quote']

That sound like mine, twisting can hurt pretty bad. It's funny cause when I stand or take my walks there's no pain at all. I'm just thankful I don't have any other symptoms besides that.

  10. I have it I think its coming either from the hole where they pulled my tube out of or from where they pulled the stomach out

That's what I was thinking too. It's my biggest incision and the bruising I had around it from after surgery is just barely going away. I'm thinking something pretty drastic went on there, but I don't think I wanna know all the details either! LOL

  11. As long as you have had the pain since the surgery' date=' and it didn't start suddenly after a period of not having it....does that make sense? Pain after surgery should steadily decrease. Any sudden or new pain after you have been successfully healing may be cause for alarm.[/quote']

That makes total sense, thanks! It has been sore there since surgery. I guess I figured it would be getting a little better by now, but I'm glad I have an appt coming up to get it checked out.

  12. Hi all,

Hopefully this isn't a repeat thread, but I'm wondering if this pain in my side is normal 3 weeks out? It feels like it's around one of my incision sites, on the left side. Anytime I get in & out of car, sit for too long, lay a certain way, it's painful. The other day I sneezed so hard I was scared to look down cause I swore it split open! Of course it didn't but it hurt bad. Has anyone else experienced this? I have a follow up with my surgeon in 2 days.

  13. This phase starts for me next week is there any where to find foods that will actually taste good pureed?

I'm currently on the purée diet and am not a fan of puréed meats, however, I've found an ounce of chicken breast puréed with a bit of chicken broth and some BBQ Sauce is pretty delicious, it tricks you into thinking you are eating actual BBQ-ed chicken :) Also puréed pinto Beans with a sprinkle of cheese (if tolerated) is good too.

  14. Hi all' date=' I'm pre-op and looking at what my RDA's will be after surgery. Please weigh in and tell me what your RDA's are for cals, fat, Protein & carbs. If any of you track your diaries on My Fitness Pal, and want another buddy on there, please give me your name and I'll send you a friend request! I need as much info as I can get, and they allow me to manually enter my nutrition goals. Thanks!![/quote']

    Hi,

I am almost 3 weeks post-op. My doctor has told me to eat/drink at least 60 grams of Protein a day, and also no more than 15 grams of sugar per meal. I don't have an RDA for calories, you eat so little after surgery. My calorie intake per day is minimal (around 300). I am physically unable to eat more than that! It's also recommended to stay away from anything high-fat. I don't have an RDA for carbs either, again because you eat so little & because you won't be eating bread, Pasta or rice for at least the first 3 months. Hope this helps :)

  15. I was gonna tell you to watch out. I have become very pepper sensitive since surgery (9/10). I added what I normally do to some Tomato soup.......and I threw it all away. It tasted like a bowl of pepper...Yuck!

Yeah I'm definitely noticing a sensitivity to some spices that I didn't have before. I added mustard to my boiled egg today and it was way too strong! I couldn't finish it.

  16. I had a leak 2 weeks after the surgery. I'm not sure how long after the surgery it's a risk for though.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I feel better that it's not life-long but still better to remain cautious and attentive to symptoms. M&m4ever, I'm sorry you had to go through that and hope everything is fine now :) I'm only 11 days post-op so I'm still in the "danger zone." If I may ask m&m4ever, how did they treat your leak?
