  1. Cookouts, baby showers, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, fund raisers, family reunions and even deaths in the family. All my activities seem to involve an excuse to eat (badly). So my question is what the heck do you do for "fun" after surgery??? Just thinking ahead. Oh and please, no bungy jumping suggestions, I'm not "there" yet, lol!
  2. I am SO glad to hear all if the responses!!!! Was afraid I wouldn't be able to celebrate like I did before bc the biggest part of the celebrations was the good food!!!

I'm feeling some kind of way right now. Had my first appt with my surgeon and found out that I had gained weight. It looks like I have to do a three month diet before surgery and I'm concerned bc of the recent gain. I get so busy caring for my children in the mornings and before I know it, it's 2pm and I realize I haven't eaten yet. You would think I would be maintaining or maybe loosing a few pounds! So ready for my nutrition appts to start so I can get this under control!

  5. Im feeling anxious. Questions running through my mind: Will I get my op date? Is he gonna see me naked on operation day? Am I gonna have high blood pressure during surgery? Am I really gonna do this? What should I ask him? Nutrition group Oct 28 Excercise evaluations and one on one with NUT November 19

I am not looking forward to "certain" extended family members finding out about the surgery bc they seem to thrive off of discrediting people. Been mentally rehearsing ignoring their ignorance. I am a very social person, easily recognised locally and I am sure people will will be asking me what I did to loose the weight. I don't necessarily want to keep it secret afterwards but not looking forward to someone telling me that I did nothing but lye on the operation table.

Any recommendations for what to do before surgery? Maybe what stock in the pantry? What liquid products did you use?

I'm going to get Biotin some time this weekend. Did you take it before surgery? How much? I was thinking about taking double the recommendation on the bottle if my Dr says it's ok. Also, I'm thinking about doing "corset training" immediately after surgery to influence body shape. Has anyone tried this?

Hi all! Does anyone have any before/after pics to share? Maybe a hair before and after too since a lot of ppl have posted on that topic. My husband love's my "assets" sure don't want to loose those, lol. As for hair, I'm thinking about starting Biotin before surgery (no date yet) as a precautionary method. (natural hair)

Hi there! AA wife and mom to five. 5'3 and 259-260lbs. Previous surgeries, gallbladder removal and a tubal ligation. I was approved, yay! So excited, this is a bday gift to myself...a lifestyle CHANGE. Looking forward to being able to run again!!! Go up and down stairs with no knee pain. Anthem bcbs...

Confused about my insurance verification form. I see a number at oop, a different number for oop met and hospital copay. I understand the hospital copay, but not totally sure about the other two. Does anyone know how to interpret? I feel silly for asking.

    Anthem bcbs...

Ok, so it looks like if I have the surgery before the year is out, I'm looking at about $800ish oop. However EVERYTHING changes with the hubbs insurance at the first of the year. Called surgeons office to get more clarification and left a message. My face right now? :-/ On another note, I had a baby this year as well as in 2011 and I believe that has something to do with my oop amount. So if you have recently had a baby might wanna take that into consideration.

    Anthem bcbs...

My surgeons office did call the insurance company and they sent me the verification form. I just wasn't sure about my oop total. There were a few terms I was unfamiliar with. I will call tomorrow to get clarification but thought I'd get some input here. Thanks all!

Congrats! I'm new to this site, but my insurance was approved recently as well. I have an appointment with my surgeon next week! Oh boy, it just got real! I immediately began to to think about how do I expain/share this news with others. Figured this site might be helpful.
  19. Oh and some info about me. 39, wife to one, (one's enough) Mom to 5. I'm 5'3 and 250-260lbs. I have an appointment with my surgeon on Oct. 4
  20. Hi all! I'm new to this sight. Been researching weightloss surgery for the past few years. Recently had a birthday and decided I wanted a "life transformation" as a bday wish. I attended a wls info meeting for my bday, lol! One week later, after some telephone tag, I got a call that my husbands insurance will cover my surgery. So happy! Just purchased Weightloss Surgery for Dummies book. Does anyone have any advice for me? Thanks in advance.
