    Yummy protein powder ideas

Thank you!!!! I am just finishing my protein pancake. (Could only eat 1/2...), but considering I can no longer tolerate any of the protein shakes, this is a huge help!! 16g. Protein in my 1/2 pancake lol Thanks again for sharing

    Protein help

On liquid phase, get some cream of tomato (or other flavor no clumps) and make it with milk and also add in Carnation Instant Dry Milk Flakes.

    sleeping

They didn't want me lying down at the hospital either. They had me propped up. I felt more comfortable in a recliner the first week. Afterwards, I went right to sleeping on my side in bed.

  6. Im soooo happy!! I was sleeved on 9/11 and I've been battling with nausea pretty bad. It's the reason Im having such trouble getting my fluids and Protein in. By far the most annoying thing since surgery has been the fact that every single time I take my first few drinks of Water after waking up it brings on the nausea. Then it takes awhile before Im able to really start my intake for the day. But, today I took my first few sips AND NO NAUSEA!! I just hope Im not getting all excited about a fluke lol Anyways, just wanted to post on here because the non sleeved just don't seem to get my happiness lol

    Leg pain?

My post op paperwork says to call the doctor/go to hospital if there is any leg pain. I had leg pain though, and talked to my MIL who had a blood clot. She assured me it was just sore muscles from all the walking. If the pain is constant and doesn't go away in resting position then you should go to the hospital immediately. Also if it is hot to the touch is another sign. A blood clot is not something you want to play around with. If you have chest pains or trouble breathing while having the sore legs, call 911. My leg pain was achy, but was worse when I walked around. If I was just sitting there and not moving/touching my leg, there was no pain. Hope this helps, and I hope it's just pain from walking or something simple :/

    A Set Back

Wow, you are truly an inspiration. I don't think I would be able to do 4 weeks liquid Pre op!! You can feel free to message me if you ever need to just unload, etc. Like Laura, I'll be rooting for you
  9. No problem! I wish you luck on your new journey
  10. Bleh, I still feel every little drop of the Fluid at 3.5 weeks out. It DOES sit easier in the stomach as time goes on. My doctor said "Remember, you will be learning to eat all over again like a baby. Take it slow, and learn everything your new stomach is telling you." Well, mine talks to me ALL the time lol but on the bright side, I can take 3 decent sized sips in a row now without it bring hard on my stomach When I first started drinking after my leak test, it took me over an hour to get a single ounce of fluid down. And it made me so nauseated. The only time I get nauseated from Water now is in the morning. The first few sips take me awhile to get down :/ Im still pretty behind on fluid goals, but my stomach is doing better each day. It's just taking its sweet time. Luckily, Im not dehydrated at this point. It really is a job for you to get in all the fluids and Protein and Vitamins. It DOES get easier Also, Gas X dissolvable strips saved my life lol

    Spouses...

I was sleeved on 9/11. My husband has been beyond supportive of me. --That being said, he has no clue. But, I realize now that he may NEVER really understand lol If you think about it, this surgery is extremely complicated and takes over every aspect of your life, and for someone not going through it...how can they truly understand??? I don't even understand some of the time and I went through it lol Love your spouse, and know they are just looking out for you. They want to see you succeed and be happy and healthy. These boards are helping me tremendously with relating to others. I'd say if you want understanding...you're stuck with Internet boards unless you go to support groups. Best of luck on your surgery next week. And P.S. I went to a few of my fave. restaurants before surgery as well

    Question for the ladies!

Tylenol...unless you are luck enough to have sone of your pain meds left lol :x Also, I found a heating pad eased the pain as well. I have PCOS as well and know your pain Feel free to message me if you ever need to
  13. It's interesting seeing all the individual answers here. Im personally waiting for the emotional part. Im 3.5 weeks post op and haven't felt any different emotionally yet. Even during the gritty first week of feeling miserable and slight complication from my allergies, I still haven't experienced the emotional ups or downs. I expect Im going to get hit in the face with the crying stick one day soon. ::hugs:: to those of you could use it.

Day 7 post op check up

That's awesome you aren't having much pain. I also stopped my pain meds around day 4. The liquid phase is awful no doubt about it. Im currently in the purée stage (until Wed.) and I think I hate it just as much lol The good news is its so temporary. I've dropped 2 sizes in 3.5 weeks and it is the main thing keeping me going lol How long do you have to stay on liquids? P.S. I found I was better off staying off the cheat threads when I hadn't cheated yet. It was a little discouraging lol That thread does serve a good purpose, but not when we are this early out IMO o.O

    Regretting surgery

Sorry to hear!! Im already feeling waaaY better at 3 weeks out. Im pretty sure you'll be feeling way better in another week or so. Everyone I have personally met that has had this surgery said they would do it again in a heartbeat. Just try reminding yourself why you did this. Maybe look into activities you will be able to do in your new life! (Ie...a cruise?, plane ride somewhere, you get the idea).

    3 WEEK STALL?

I was sleeved 9/11. I hit a stall at 2 weeks post. I weighed myself a few hours ago and Im 2lbs. lighter! I think Im started down hill again! Keep the faith and take it hour by hour if need be. I have decided to start my bucket list to try and keep spirits high. I also have started reading about others journey. Im also in the process of putting together a really nice expensive outfit that I want to buy when my weight slows (jewelry, clothes, shoes, everything) And maybe thinking of a couple small (like smaller size pants/shirts) Christmas presents I might treat myself to this year :x
  19. The first week was hell for me! I didn't have buyers remorse per say, but I was absolutely miserable. The second week was better. I'm 3 weeks post op now, and Im feeling more like myself. I'm still very tired, and Im still dealing with some nausea but its getting better. Hang in there!!

    Can't get my protein in

I was sleeved 9/11. Im really struggling with protein intake as well. Im finally getting 50oz. of fluids (and closer to the 64oz. Goal everyday). But the protein intake is pitiful at best (i hit 40g. Twice!!) I bought 9 types of protein before the surgery and tolerated them well on my Pre op diet. However, post op is a totally different story. I can't stand any of them. They don't sit well in my pouch and after about 5 minutes of drinking, I start gagging from the shakes. :/ It also doesn't help that I don't drink milk or tolerate the Greek yogurt (absolutely gag me lol). I tried the Proti drinks (fruity flavored stuff) but I gag with those as well now :/ I do like my tomato soup made with milk. Im going to check out this IsoPur tomorrow. Im kind of at a loss myself over the protein issue. I also am very jealous of you guys that are able to get your protein in I think Im going to email my NUT tomorrow about this issue. That might be a good idea for you as well. Good luck!!
  21. I don't know what you posted, it just has an x. If you are wondering about self pay experiences in NE Ohio I might be able to help you out. I went to St. Vincent's Charity in Cleveland. Dr. Hassad was my surgeon. He was great. I had surgery on 9/11/13. The price was 15,450 for the hospital stay, 4,000 for the surgery, up to 3,000 for anesthesia (mine was 1400.) and then $30 per nutrition appt. and I forget how much for the support groups. Plus the $300 non refundable program fee. Those fees include any complications related to the surgery for 30 days. I actually initially looked into going to Dr. Zogafrakus in Akron (he was highly recommended by a nurse friend of mine), but when I called and said I was self pay, I was told they didn't accept self pay patients. A few weeks after I entered the St. Vincent program and payed a deposit, Dr. Z's office called to set something up with me. I told them it was to late. My surgery went smoothly and I haven't had any real complications (just nausea probably allergy related). One complaint I had with St. Vincent hospital was the issue just after surgery. They apparently couldn't find a bed for me. I was in recovery 4 hours AFTER I should have been because of the bed. They didn't even tell my husband or son what was going on either. They were just left waiting in the waiting room. And the nurses I had acted like that wasn't an unusual occurrence. I wish I would have at least considered price shopping now that I have read how much other self payers paid :/ I trusted St. Vincent because that is where my mom went and she didn't have any complications. So yesterday was 3 weeks post op and Im down 19lbs from my date of surgery. Dr. Hassad, Jen (my AWESOME nutritionist), Latonya (my patient advocate), and ALL the staff at the St. Vincent Center for Bariatrics were amazing and I have received top notch care from their office. Anyway, I hope you find a program that works for you
  22. I was sleeved on Sept. 11, and I've only lost 17lbs. Well, I haven't lost anything in a week. Don't worry, the weight loss will continue. We have to stay strong and have confidence in our program Hang in there

    FYI...allergies and hunger

That is awesome you mentioned that!! I was having awful nausea even after a week post op. I went into the doctors concerned about that and something unrelated. At the end of my appt. I asked when I was allowed to go back on my Allegra and my other allergy meds. My PA looked at me and said "Take them and see how you feel tomorrow. I bet your nausea is being caused by post nasal drip." She was totally right. Now, it's been about 10 days and I've been getting hunger pangs and wondering why. I just realized today it's been a few days since I've taken my Allegra!! That's great. First thing in the a.m. I'll be taking it
