    Got a date

thanks Julie I am sure going to give this a college try sort to speak. I started out at 270 pounds not proud of that and I am currently at 255 pounds. My game plan is to be 25 pounds lighter before surgery and I thnk I can do it as long as I keep motivated. Sharon
  2. ever hear of Dr. Gott? in the newpaper he has the no sugar and flour diet for under 3.00 I believe and from what I heard it does work. I am staying away from my white products and it is hard but the rewards are great

one more month go with supervised diet

This question came up at my seminar back in March so eone asked well what happens if she lost weight before she got approval would this go against her and the Dr, said no so I think it depends on the insurance company. I was approved before my actual 6 month. I discussed this with my Dr. in january but when I went back in Feb. she asked me if I was still considering it and I said yes and thenthat is when she went to work sort to speak. I have a great Dr. here in Killeen, TX and the Bariatric Staff in waco, TX are a bunch of real nice people. I still ahve to go for my pre op appointment and lab tests and what ever else I might have to have before surgery.
  4. wow I cannot believe you had to pay out all that money so far. I ahve paid out let me see 200.00 these are co payments only everything else is included in with the surgery, the pre op, etc. My surgery will run around 17,000 oh plus I have to pay the 150.00 co pay for the hospital but all very well worth it

    Whats the worst you've heard?

I was told how my ex sister in law would call me shamu the baby whale, and then she said something that well hurt me to beyone no return until I went to the source. She said that my hubby made a comment on how he was going to put my two ton butt on the rider mower in the hot sun and waitn for me to have a heart attack and keelm over to get my Insurance. Well I blew up but then I sat with my hubby and told him of this and aksed if he said it, he said no he did not and then drove me over to her place and asked her why she would say such a thing, she said that is what his sister told her, well they both got an earfull from him and told them where to get off at. I should have never doubted him, he thinks I look fine right now but he supports me in my decision for the surgery, he is a dear been together for over 30 years. People just tick me off. His brother came over bragging about how he laughs at fat people when he is shopping. Some people have nothing better to do I guess.
  6. Pandagirl, you and I think alike becasue I want to know everything that goes on with me in advance. I do a lot of research. By chance did you whatch the two videos that was posted under Lap Band Faq's and References that someone sent in? I did and wow it was very interesting, I fully understand the reasons for everything.
  7. Hi, I started by seeing my own Dr. back in January 2007 and in March I attended my free seminarn my Insurance provider says we have to follow through on several tihings during the 6 months. I had to see a Psychologist and passed that test. I havebeen on a Dr.s diet since January and do OK. I had to get all my medical records together and send into the Bariatric Center and then from there I had my first Dr. visit on July 3, 07 and then to the dietitian on July 5, 07 and then they sent everything to my Insurance Provider on July 10, 07 and I was approved on Fridy July 13, 07 what a great Friday the 13th it turned out for me and my Surgery date is set for September 4, 2007. It all depends on your Insurance provider and what all they need for you to do first, so all in all from January -September is how long I have been actually waiting. Your having yours done at NorthWestern that is a wonderful hospital. I am from the Chicago land region and now I live in Texas. I am having my surgery done in waco, Texas I don't know if I would even consider having this done in Mexico, I have seen too many stories about not having surgery outside the US. I ahve heard all good things but being in my home land makes me feel much better. Good luck to you.

    panniculectomy

hi girls I have this problem it started about 6 years after my hysterectomy and I am lobsided too my right side is way larger than my left side is, the right side breaks out, turns red and has a smelly dampness to it yep that really stinks lol on me for sure, well I do keep myself clen all the time but maybe if they saw mine they would flip out for sure and give me an instant approval.
  9. Ok I need some help here. I just got an e-mail rom my Bariatric Center here in Waco, Texas. it said that all looks good for me and my answer should be in either by Friday or Monday as to if I was approved for LapBanding. I was told to select a date for surgery, you bet I am a happy clam for sure, but I am still waiting for the approval. OK what kind of a liquid diet can I go on to help me lose a few pounds? The clinic said that they ahve not started any patients on a liquid diet but will be considering it in the future. I know about the Slim Fast been there and lost nothnig, I bought this stuff from Adkins called Advantage :confused:I think and well it lowered my blood sugar real quick, I am a type 2 diabetic, this was not good. I know all about Optifast but there is no place where I live that distributes this product. can someone please help me for I really need to do this for myself. Thanks Sharon sharrroc@aol.com
  10. Hi I had my nut approval in May 2007, met with the psychologist in May 2007, passed the psychological exame with flying colors, seminar oops March 5, 2007, Met with the Bariatric Dr on June 3, and the dietititian on July 5 and now I am just waiting to hear about what the insurance company tells me. I reside in Texas and I am under a Federal Health paln called Firstcare. I will attend a pre surgical class and andother dietary class on July 19 it is a two hour event. Now is this all natural to be doing all of this before even getting approved by the insurance company or waht. I am trying to have the Lapband done, however some of the information I ahve been getting sounds more like what they do to a person haveing he roux-en-y bypass.
  11. did your sis tell you that the more fatty food you eat while taking this will give you what your describing, this is why it tell you not to eat high quantities of fatty greasy foods.
  12. congrats for your hubby. what kind of liquid diet did they put him on? I know about the optifast but ehre are others out there that have the same benefits, let me know. Thanks Sharon
  13. if your on optifast your not supposed to eat solid foods
  14. seen the dietitican today for the first time and she gave me a lot of info, no liquid diet but I am thinking about doing this on my own I found one called BeneProtein, it comes with either a 2 or 3 wk supply of stuff and runs 108.00-162.00I have to drink 60-80 oz of water per day , no sugars, caffine, no baby fods, sip fluids only and no straws for that forms gas

    pain in upper right side

sometimes depending on the time of meedication to put you under can cause gas pain and if they use co2 to inflate the lower tummy that will hurt like the devil trying to get out, I was told it works its way out through your upper torso and it did with me, everytime I had surgery it flet like a pain I never had before and don't want to remember
  17. My Dr. never said anything to me about this device. He asked me if I had sleep apnea and I said no, he asked if I ever had a scope inseted in my stomach for testing before and I said no never. I hve had 5 major surgeries back in the 1980's and no one even asked me those before much less was tested for them and the surgeries were all open abdominals. He did ask me if that scar he was looking at was from my hysterectomy and I said yes all the way down so they could remove the cervix (oops)
  18. Hi I just seen my Doc. yesterday for the first time all seemed to go well, but he did tell me that he is now making his patients drink the Optifast before surgery. OK but where in the heck do you get this stuff from? I see the dieticitian tomorrow afternoon so maybe she will shed some light on this. I know that I was told everything pertaining to the surgery will be covered by my Insurance provider up to one year after surgery so I wonder if this might be included, can someone get back with me on this. Thanks Sharon sharrroc@aol.com

one more month go with supervised diet

Hi, I have Firstcare here in Texas and my Insurance provider covered my psyc already and just sent in the results back to the bariatric center here, turned what medical records I had, been on the supervised diet since january of 07, lost 12 pounds since the end of June which for me is really good. I got my first Dr. visit on July 3, and on July 5 I meet with the dieticitian and I am just wondering if I have been approved or not by Firstcare because I ahve not heard a word but I am not paying anything to see these people this week. My Dr. is an in plan HMO Doctor, I was sent information and also told over the phone that since he is an in network Dr. and so is the facility etc in the same plan that the only reason I am having to get prior authorization is only due to the hospital say. has anyone ever heard of this before if so let me know. Thanks Sharon...sharrroc@aol.com
  20. Yes it is called incidental surgery, whey I had my hysty years back the doc decided to remove the appendix and I was never billed for the appendix

    Firstcare

Hi i forgot to add in my post that i already had my psychological evulation done and it came back that I would be a very good candidate for the lapBand, because I know so much in detail about the procedure and what my expectations are and so much other stuff, this was sent to my bariatric Center along with my inital application and questionaire that they gave out at the seminar I attended. I have high blood pressure, hyperlidemia (sorry about the spelling) I have DJD, diabetes type 2. My BMI is 40. I have been on a Dr. supervised diet going into my 7th month even though the Insurance company says it has to be for 6 months. I turned in all my medical records, except I have been seeing my current dr. just under 2 years now. I went back to my origianl Dr. to see about my medical records and well she moved her practice and they are not sure where all the old patients paper work is at and this really burns me up to a crisp and i am just praying that this does not hold me back, according to my insurance provider if it does not state 5 years of medical history in our manual then it is not required and well it is just not lised so I am hoping for the best.
  22. can anyone tell me if they have Firstcare Health plan out of Austin, TX? I do and I have followed everything that was in the hand book and I made numerious calls to my Insurance provider asking questions. Now I have my first appointment with my hopefully Dr. this Tuesday and on Thursday I meet with the Diet lady. My Dr. said I should have no problem getting approved but I don't know.
