So confused with what my weight is...
McButterpants replied to AngiD's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sounds like a calibration issue with the scales. I officially track my weight by one scale - the one I have at home. It's a fairly expensive one (it doesn't do the fat % though). I only weigh in the morning and I'm nekkid. This way I have a baseline of actual pounds up and down. I know when I go to my GP's office, I'm going to weigh about 5 pounds more than home. (And the nurse doesn't take a lot of care with the whole balance thing when she's nudging that stupid little thing over to the right, over to the right a little more, maybe a smidge more - OK, can you please just do another of the bigger notch thingy - let's go another 25 pounds. We're not fooling anyone here." Some weigh you with shoes on and purse in hand. It's a crap shoot really. I wonder why they bother weighing you at all. OK - I went off a little there. But you get my point. My suggestion is to find a scale that you can regularly weigh on and gauge your progress from there. -
Sending positive vibes and ((hugs)) your way on this big day. Keep us posted!

Congrats! That's gotta feel good.

Ahhhh...the draw of the bread (pre-opper musing)
McButterpants posted a topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
My name is McButterpants, and I'm a breadaholic. So, I've been really working hard on my diet in preparation for my surgery next month - trying to do more Protein and less carbs, incorporating shakes, monitoring portion sizes, etc. I've been really cutting back on bread, almost to the point of elimination. Bread has a particularly strong hold over me and have been doing well...until last night. The dreaded garlic bread. I started my dinner with some grilled chicken which tasted really good and some baked Beans. I was satisfied. My husband cooked some fish and rice pilaf for him and my son, but I just couldn't stomach that last night for some reason. I wanted chicken and beans. Well, he also picked up some garlic bread at the store. You know the kind, you warm it up in the oven and it fills the house with it's garlicky, yummy aroma. I was drawn to that bread like an addict to crack. I had a little piece of the crusty end...my favorite part. Then I went back for another little slice. Then went back for a third! I told myself, "STOP!", but I really didn't want to. I went into the living room (which is open to the kitchen, very close to the drug, uh, I mean bread) and started to watch TV. I kept thinking about that fu&^ing bread. I wanted another slice and another slice after that. But I held strong and didn't go back. It really bothered me...that I couldn't stop and I couldn't stop thinking about that stupid bread. I wasn't hungry any more. But I didn't feel upset or anxious about anything either. I think it was the telling myself "No more" that got to me and made me want it more. Just another reason we also need to work on our brain during this process. -

"Do I look like I have ever...ever passed on the bread? So the answer is a resounding YES, leave that bread and please bring some more next time you come around." -

PDXman - I'm laughing. "You better not remove that bread or you're going to draw back a bloody stump for an arm!!!!!" I pray that my sleeve (Paco - that's my name for my sleeve) will be as good to me as the post-oppers here. Thanks for the words of encouragement! -

Is anyone else feeling extra emotional?
McButterpants replied to jennyjenny2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, Jenny. I'm November 14th - I just paid my deposit today, so it became really real today. I have been on an emotional roller coaster the last week. I haven't cried much, but I go from "will the day ever come?" to "OMG what am I doing?" to "November 14th is too soon." I'm trying to put my energy into working towards the big day - trying new recipes, journaling, cleaning, organizing, etc. (For some reason it's really important to clean my office. Weird.) Hang in there, kiddo. We're all going thru the same thing. I'm sure you're going to get lots of encouragement from the group here. Wishing you well. McButterpants -
I think I'm going to stay home this year rather than going to family dinner - I will be two weeks out on Thanksgiving day.
-
Sending positive insurance vibes your way... I just locked in on November 14 (I was tentative until today). I just scheduled my two week follow up as well...the day before Thanksgiving. Pureed turkey anyone?!?!
-
Congrats on getting your date! We are close - I just locked in my date of 11/14! (I've been tentative for about 3 weeks.) I also just scheduled my two week follow up. It's getting real!!!!!

started working out again and the scale and I dont agree
McButterpants replied to KayCTheNewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you take your measurements pre-op? Sometimes you won't see the scale move, but you'll see a difference in your clothes, so you're losing inches. Just a thought. Any pre-sleevers out there that read this - I have read many many posts about the scale not moving but their clothes fit better. Many wish they had taken their measurements prior to surgery so they can monitor that as well as the scale. -
Congratulations! Thanks for sharing! Wishing you continued success in your journey.
