  1. I was sleeved on December 20th. I've been home since the 23rd and am getting my strength back more and more every day. I've lost a total of 30lbs since I started the pre-op liquid diet; 17 lbs since I was sleeved and a total of 67lbs since I began this journey. So excited to finally be on this side of being sleeved and can't wait to see what my future holds in store for me.

Question: is anyone else having a hard time getting all their protien and a total of 64 oz Fluid in every day? (I know the shakes count as some of the required fluids but I can't get anywhere near 64 oz of anything in in a day) I was excited today for the sad fact that I was able to drink an entire protien shake (only took 6 hours to drink one 14oz shake, ugh) but after geting that down I don't have room for Water or crystal light. Is this normal this early in my journey? Also, I have a TON of food allergies and have unfortunately figured out that I'm allergic to the powdered protien mixes so I can't mix unflavored protien into my water/crystal light. Any ideas?

I was sleeved on dec12 and still struggling to get in minimum 50g Protein and 48oz water per my NUT

On a good day I'm probably getting in around 300 calories -- 30g protein and 32 oz water

Incredibly weak these days too; lost about 25lbs in 3 weeks since surgery

Didn't think 3 weeks out would look like this but it should get better

I had hiatal hernia repair same time so I believe that is my greatest challenge ... I actually broke down and cried while on the phone with my NUT the other day; it hurt so bad to sip anything

Im doing a bit better with sipping now due to the carafate solution my surgeon prescribed me but still not easy -- I'm thankful for the tiny progressions

    Best wishes to you!!

I was also sleeved on the 20th and am also struggling to get all my H20 and protein in, Amiee0176, my intake is exactly the same as yours. I am really struggling to drink any more protein drinks... They all just make me nautious now because I'm sick of them. When I eat, it's protein, but, I can barely eat more than 3-4 bites and then I'm full. Im on a week vacation at Disneyworld though, so I haven't been really as focused on eating and drinking as maybe I would be if I were just at home. But I'm getting a TON of exercise this week though with all the walking around... Best way to get back into exercising in my opinion! I'm hoping it will get easier as we're more healed and can incorporate more variety. I don't know all my numbers yet, there's no scale here so I'm excited to get home on Friday and see how I did this week. I was 12 lbs down since surgery last Friday and 26 total including pre-op. but I am definitely seeing a difference in my body so I think it'll be a good week

  2. Thanks everyone, I'll try that. Ive been doing the gas-X strips and tums, but its Still not 100%. It's really hard for me to get anything down when I feel like it just sits on my esophagus and burns...

One day I felt a bit like that, I drank my Water while I took my walk. The wiggling side to side kinda helped bring the bubbles up. Plenty of people need a prescription strength PPI to help reduce the acid. If u suspect that is your issue I'd call the doc. You may not have to suffer like this.

Also, could I ask what you are eating in a given day? Perhaps we can pinpoint something that is aggravating things. For instance, some people become lactose intolerant for a time post op.

It varies from day to day, but usually starts out with a Protein Shake of some kind, usually using water or almond milk, sometimes a little Greek yogurt for the smoothie. lunch is usually a reduced sodium or fat free chicken or beef broth. dinner is a creamy Soup of some kind sometimes with unflavored Protein Powder in it. Depending on how much Protein I need or not, perhaps another clear Protein Drink. And all of this feels impossible to finish and get in more than 4-5 glasses of water. I am literally tired of eating because it takes me like an hour to finish each meal and I'm not hungry at all so I feel like I'm just forcing myself to eat and drink.

  3. I'm up tomorrow along with a number of other sleevers-- good luck to us all!

I was just reading some of the older portions of this thread, looking for similarities in what has been reported. Not surprising, the one thing that I am going to hold on to over the next week is the message that "It will get better. The discomfort is only temporary." I'm counting on this one.

Again, thanks for all of the posts that you've all made as this really has greased the skids, so to speak, for the rest of us.

My surgery is at 7:15 in the morning. I'll post as I can and appreciate prayers from any of you.

It gets better each day... The pain will be temporary. I just got home from the hospital and am feeling much better than the last two days. Things are looking up!! :-)

  4. Hi girls, I am also with dr. Cohen. I'm at memorial pembrook. Was sleeved on dec. 20. Will possibly be discharged today. I'm in a lot of pain, much more than I had expected. I just tried my first roxicet for pain, up until now, I've been on morphine every 3 hours. broth and Water makes me nautious, pain meds make me nautious, And my stomach feels like the muscles have all been torn especially on the left side where they pulled the tummy through. I know that there's light at the end of the tunnel, and I'm looking forward to it. Just trying to breathe and take it day by day!! This seriously makes me rethink considering getting a pannulectomy after I loose the weight. Stomach pain is no joke and you use your stomach for everything!

    ------

Feel better!! I was on dilaudid for first 2 days every 4 hours --- loved it!! They moved me to roxicet claiming i cant go home with dilaudid which wasn't strong enough but I suffered through ...also had hiatal hernia repair (ouch!!!!!!)

It gets better with time ... I'm 10 days out today and feeling little to no pain just lack of energy ... Can't wait to get to soft solids

You already look so slim in your avatar

I wish they put me on dilauded, because the morphine didnt seem to work. This roxicet kicked in and feels better than anything else they've given me so far. I think I was just on the wrong pain med. going to try some broth now and see how that goes.

  5. Hi Meli, Im getting sleeves in S fl as well! Who's your dr? I'm with Dr Brett Cohen at Memorial Hospital!

  6. So, better late than never, but I FINALLY got insurance approval at 2:30pm today. It took alot of phone calls to get insurance to push it through, but My surgery is scheduled at 3:30pm tomorrow. I am going to be one hungry girl tomorrow morning!! So far I have lost 11lbs on this pro-op diet and am expecting 1-2lbs more tomorrow due to my clear liquid diet today. I am so excited!!! Please wish me luck! Xoxo

  7. Did anyone else get really bad headaches on their pre-op diet? I started on Monday and have had really bad headaches everyday... So bad that I had to take ibuprofen. I won't take any ibuprofen after tomorrow because I technically am not required to start my pre-op till Friday, but wanted to kind of ease myself into it and am glad I have... Days one and two were pretty hard, and now on day three, I'm not even hungry! The hardest part for me is getting under 40g of carbs per day... I never realized how many carbs were in everything!!! The "sugar-free" items still tend to have carbs, so it's pretty much just room for three Protein Shakes a day and a ton of Water for me...

Were you a caffeine drinker? Did you stop that suddenly? Could be withdrawal. I'm almost done with day 11 and my diet every day is 3 Premier Protein drinks, 2 unsweetened applesauces and 48 ounces of water. Every now and then I make one cup of Better Than Bouillon chicken broth.

Be strong and continued success on your preop!

I did drink caffeine, but not on a daily basis, I would usually have one cup of coffee maybe 4 days a week. I was a big coca cola drinker though. Maybe not on a daily basis as well, but more days than not I would drink it. On day three i kinda figured that all i would have room for carb wise was my Protein Drinks and maybe one other thing like sugar feee Jello. How many grams of carbs is the unsweetened applesauce? I need to go get some. That sounds yummy! Thanks for the advice!!! And keep up the good work!!! You're nearing the finish line and I'm excited for you!! :-)
