  1. Ps she suggested cut food into peas size..chew..and eat protein first before anything else. I am to eat 1.5 oz of meat at each meal..please a high protein snack such as Greek yogurt, protein drink etc,,1/4 to 1/2 cup for snack.
  2. Make sure when u eat spinach to cut it up in small pieces.. Spinach is quite stringy and I read somewhere that it can cause issues if you don't cut it up..as far as variety after 4 weeks, the hospital gave me binder for the phases that I will be going through..here is what they suggest.. Fresh firt, all cooked veggies, bran or whole grain cereal, whole grain rice and pasta, cooked legumes, beans and peas, shellfish and all meats u can tolerate. All foods that u had on your soft diet. Once I have my surgery, my stage 5 lifetime eating ,the Nut said to have 4 oz of food, 3 times a day, plus one protein snack. I am female, 5 feet one inch..so I am on the lower scale to eat only 4 ounces per meal. And 64 oz of water, not same time as meals. Hopefully this helps.

    Need some advice/help/motivation...

Omg..I just posted a similar question..how not to go back to gaining weigh, back..stay motivated. I tell myself that I will not sabotage myself with the sleeve..but my psych tells me I will..and it depends how I deal with slip ups. We will talk about that next week so I will tell u dr advisor to me. Can your dr tell u how if your stomach is still small and can hold only 4 oz max of food. Sometimes we need to forgive ourselves, and get back right on boArd. Thinking that will 100% good??is probably already setting me up for failure.i am sure the experienced sleevers can give us advice here.
  4. I am through with all the insurance requirements and now waiting for insurance approval. I was excited since I started this journey p, however, last night I go reallyt scared. I read several posts that one woman was in a coma for 5 months...and another , her sister passed away..( though it seems her doc did not take too good of after the surgery. I had not confided with anyone except my husband and a friend who had the gastric sleeve". I had anxiety since I did not tell my daughters and if something goes wrong during or after the surgery or they would be upset that I did not tell them. So I decided to tell my daughters ...one of my daughters was very receptive and was happy that I did not give up on myself. My other daughter told me I should try diet pills...she is a PA and works at a neurologists office. She has met patients with the sleeve. And most lost 50% of their weight. I did tell her I tried phen fen and other diet pills which did not work for me. I feel so much better in sharing my little big secret with my daughters. I feel less pressure since I told them..I was expecting a BIG backlash..but they were understanding and compassionate. Now for my other concern , since I yo-yoed so many years, I am afraid I will have this major surgery, alter my body, will lose my weight and then gain back..I always lost weight..but once I got to goal I would start gaining. I know this is a phycological issue I have to work on. (BTW, I started seeing a physiologist pre and then post) ..my question is how did we not go back with emotional eating with the sleeve. It would devastate me to go to great lengths to get the sleeve..and then fail..Your comments please.

    psych evaluation

Since u are stabilized you should have no prob..why dot you have your dr who is currently taking care of u write a letter stating that he or she feels that u a good candidate with the surgery and and u are stabilized.. That is what I did. I did not use hospital phsch eval.
  7. Pierce78..did your dr do the band to sleeve in one operation.. My doc wants it done at same time. 58 pounds in 5 months is great. Do u get easily get full now? I guess since u have such success. Thanks for sharing your success
  8. Be careful , the scale can be your friend, or enemy. My doc suggested I weigh only once a month.. Hide the scale. Your body is going through transition and we should not expect huge losses all the time.,if u are following the eating protocol and exercising , The pounds lost will eventually show on the scale..yes, measuring yourself is also a good indication u r making progress. Think of this way, slow and sure wins the race.
  9. I would only drink bottled water.. You don't want to have tourista before or after your surgery.

Watch out for the seasonings in Indian food.. I love curries, etc.. But I am sure once I have the sleeve i won't be able to tolerate this as much.

    post op appt ..

Omg.. 17 pounds in two weeks is great..everyone is different in how much weight will be lost each week. I cannot fathom losing more than that.. At the beginning, a lot of it is Water weight. Also, for him or expect u to walk 2 hours a day ,2 weeks post op ,is a bit aggressive.. Listen to your body. Don't overdo it ok. I

  14. I just starting seeing a psychologist to prepare me for post op. And find out why food is my best friend,, I am taking anti depressant meds (I see a psychiatrist for my meds) She gave me a reference.. My psychologist. Is is specialist in eating disorders. That is when have an unhealthy relationship with food, whether it is bulimia, anexoria, binge eater, compulsive eater, etc. I went to a psychologist for 6 months who did not specialize with food disorders. It seems she did not get my problem with food, so I recently changed to someone who deals with food issues. And it is much better..she understands.
  15. Wow,,,what a success. Hats off to u.

    Feeling Like Crap!

I would eat my pr op food with my friends.. That is the way your life will be post op.. So why not having lunch with your friends. .thank them for their support.. But to me lunchtime with my friends is a big deal, so don't give that up.. As for snacks, yes they can support u with not having this around the office. That is what I did ..and in had no issued.. Concentrate on the conversation , not on food they r eating

Just met for my initial consult today

Where u on a medically supervised diet recently? Maybe this will help. The hospital that I am having the surgery in has a nut to start a pre op diet.. Check out the hospital that u are having surgery. Just so it is medically supervised. I hear that some insurance require 6 months.. So 3 much is not that bad. Think of it this way, you can start making lifestyle changes now so that it will easier post op. And it will surely give ugh a good indication whether or not u r prepared for the sleeve. Hopefully this helps .

I probably will be addicted to buying clothes after I get to my goal.. I love to buy new clothes, shoes, accessories... But instead of a new addiction that is harmful, why don't we get addicted to the good things in life, I figure I will more energy and free time... we can read more, take on a new hobby, like flower gardening, redecorate your bedroom or any part of your home, help others going through a weight loss surgery like a friend, volunteer, if u don't work like me...(I retired 3 years ago). Get a part-time job that is fun ..go back to school, etc etc.there is so much in life we are still waiting to experience.. I love to travel, so I will do more of this..there is a big world waiting for me.
  24. Don't let your dr office flounder around, let them know that they already have the insurance info and you want a firm date for your surgery..you need to make arrangements ahead of time. Persistence does pay off sometimes.
  25. About 3 to 4 weeks.. Maybe longer since the stalemate of increasing our deficit did effect passport personnel. I would call ,and find out.
