  1. Just wanted to add in an update, I have finally started not just maintaining but actually very slowly gaining some weight back which I am very happy about. I HAVE to continually keep a food journal and have to have at least 2 smoothies a or Protien shakes a day to keep my calories high enough to maintain and 3-4 a day to gain. I've learned how May calories my body has to have to maintain and gain. I would like to address the few negative comments and messages I recieved mostly about working out. When I lost weight it was not to feel better about myself it was to regain an active lifestyle that I was so badly missing overweight and so for me working out is a very important thing it's one of the main reason I had this surgery. I understand that everyone does this for there own reasons but that was an important one for me. For those of you who told me I just needed to stop working out and argued that I was continuing to do it for "control" issues you are incorrect, working out for me is a tremendous stress relief and I did have to modify my cardio and add in more strength training. I want to enjoy my new healthier body by getting out and using it, working out, going hiking, mountain climbing, riding bikes, running at the beach. I did have to learn how to have this lifestyle manage stress and figure out exactly how much calories/Protien my body needs. For the naysayers this does not mean I need counseling or have a problem and for those of you that have the opposite problem and messaged me because you where angry that I was "complaining" about losing weight I was not complaining I was reaching out for advice. I am sorry that some of you are not having the results you wanted and I hope that you are able to get the support you need and figure out what will work for YOUR specific body and lifestyle.

Good luck to everyone on this journey and thank you so much to everyone who offered support and positive advice and encouraging words I so appricate you.

Thanks for the update! I'm currently going through unwanted weight loss myself. Never thought this would happen to me. My goal weight was 140, when I reached it, I was happy and satisfied. I even started to allow myself a bit more (as far as Snacks, I'd start to eat a bit of popcorn here and there, I'd allow myself a piece of chocolate, etc). But despite that, I am now at 125 and going down. I'm 5'5", and I am what you would call "big boned". So at 125, though I am a size 6, it's just because the pants hug my hip bones, which can't get any smaller. I'm literally TOO SKINNY. :-( I guess I will start adding more liquid calories, ensures and things...

  2. @@EarthyGoalie, I don't add it to the Soup on the stove (though the package says it can be used in falafel, so the heat might actually be ok). I usually just add 15g or so to the serving I'm gonna eat once it's cooled down so it won't burn my mouth. It clumps a little bit, but not like whey Protein. I've been adding it mostly to pureed Soups though (lentil, Tomato, split pea, etc), and I don't know how it would fair in something brothier. Yesterday I knew I was going to a Turkish restaurant for dinner, and knew I would have lentil soup, so I just brought some in a little tupperware and added it at the table. I had to use a fork to really whisk it, but it wasn't lumpy at all. I would also say that since the taste isn't so "protein-y," when I have had a bit of a clump on my spoon, it hasn't turned me off. It's more akin to getting a mouthful of something where a certain spice has clumped up a bit.

Thanks. I will try and see if I can order it to Florida!

  3. Thank you so much for sharing this....it's like you have been inside my head. Which I might add is not a safe place to be! Especially not alone, or without a flashlight! LOL I will add one more to your list....I thought that no surgery short of brain surgery would work for me. Thanks for your inspiration and Congrats!

Lol, I'm with you on that one too!

  4. I remember when I thought to myself "I don't need weight loss surgery, I'm going to try this special diet one more time, and I'll make it!"

I remember when I was worried that I would be the exception, the one who would get weight loss surgery and not lose weight.

I remember when I lost my first 30 pounds and thought "I still feel the same, I still think I look the same, and my clothes still fit. This isn't working!"

I remember when i felt that each pound I lost was going to be my last one, and I'd lose no more.

I remember when I wrote down my goal weight and thought "wow, as if! Oh well, good motivation at least..."

I remember when I would look at other people's post in Bea's challenges who were in the 150s, 140s, 130s, and feeling so behind.

Now, I still can't believe, I'm 5 lbs away from my impossible goal, I really did lose the weight, each pound I lost was not my last one, and I'm no longer doubtful of weight loss surgery not working for me (duhh lol)

Although I'm not yet at goal, I'm very happy, and I wanted to let all of you who currently feel the way I did, that you're going to make it, and you're not going to be the exception to weight loss surgery!

    :-)

  5. I just made a post about this elsewhere yesterday, but I'll just copy/paste most of it here too since I'm just so thrilled about this discovery: pumpkin seed Protein. It has all the essential amino acids to make it a complete Protein (plus most of the non-essential ones as well). Per 100g it has 63g of protein, 6.7g of fat (but it's good fat, including the ever important omegas), and 10g of carbs (all 10 of which are fiber!). And the best part is, it doesn't really taste like protein! It just tastes kinda "green." It's nice, sort of smokey. I've been putting it everything savory: Soup, salad dressing, stir-fry, salsa, hummus, etc. I love it! It was a little expensive, but totally worth it. The company is called "Sun & Seed" (though I believe other organic food companies in the US make something similar). They have a website, but it looks like it might be under construction (sunandseed.com). It seems like they're a UK company though, so I don't know how the availability of this specific brand would be in the US. All I can say is, I really, really recommend it, not just for vegans, but for anyone getting sick of the taste of other protein powders.< /p>

Interesting! Thanks! By the way, you said you put it in Soups, does it not get clumped up like the unjury if the heat is too high?

  6. There are good and bad sides to it. When I was 240, whenever I'd ask someone to guess my weight, 205 was the most I ever got. People don't know how much weight looks like what. Also, some people are just not observant. I asked someone to guess how much weight i lost overall and he said 40 pounds, when it is actually 95 pounds.

Don't worry about these people. Pat yourself in the back and admire those lost pounds on the scale. Congrats! :-)

  7. I'm 25. I lost 95 lbs. I'm looking into a breast lift. Mine are gone. There's so much extra skin that was stretched when they were bigger that even will a little toning and firming, the skin will always be there, not helping them firm. I have to remove it. I hate it.

  8. I'm happy for you and support you (virtually I guess lol). But in all seriousness, I know how being so close feels!! You're gonna get there!!

I have 6 more to reach my goal. The anticipation! Lol. I also vow with you to do all of the above mentioned, especially to drink enough, stop eating before I get too full, and figure out if I'm only having head hunger before eating!
