Dear God... I'm Always Freeeeeeeeeeeeeezing!
I froze the first 3-4 weeks after surgery. I still tend to wear multiple layers as a precautionary thing. Better to be too warm and pull off a shirt then too cold and freeze your tuckus off. 8)

Am I Eating Too Much?
6 weeks out and I can not tell when I am full either. I don't bother watching my calories at this point because I am eating 2-3 oz 2-3x a day so I know I am not getting much. I usually can eat about 2 oz over 15 minutes and then my stomach starts aching or cramping I don't really know how to describe it, so I stop eating because I don't want to piss it off.

This Gas Sucks!
I still get gas 6 week out. No where near as bad as the first month. It eases up some between 3-4 weeks. Try to walk multiple times a day and use a sublingual gas x when it's really bad. Smaller sips of Water seem to help for me.

Feeling Sluggish When "eating".
Mine has improved for the most part. I still wear down faster then I used to But I think it's still me trying to get the Proteins and Water in like I am supposed to. I can't drink my proteins yet and I'm 6 weeks out. They make me ill, I had no problems with them before surgery but after... I would feel pukey, get an upset stomach, and get tired as well as I drank them (maybe more depressed because I felt ill). My surgeon told me not too worry too much about the proteins at this point more about the hydration that the proteins will come. What I did to get some of the proteins in and tolerated it alot better.. was make hot Soup via broth or cream of whatever (pureed, and doctors idea) and added like half a scoop of unflavored Protein to like 3-4 oz of that. I took about 20 minutes to eat it. Good luck to you!

Not Losing Weight.
I lost a ton of weight the first month. Week 5 with my surgeons approval I began my birth control pill again. I only lost 3 lbs this week. I was very upset but you know what? We are going to hit little plateaus and we are going to keep losing for a while yet still to come. Are you drinking enough? Enough Proteins? Exercise? Pooping? Have you noticed even if you aren't losing weight that you are still losing inches? Be patient. 8)

Do You Find That You Use A Food Scale Much?
I have a food scale (don't use it right now but before surgery I did) and I love it! I measure my food by medicine cups still. Each one is roughly 1 oz. Once I get to eating regular meals I will go back to my scale though.

At The End Of The Day...
Sorry you are having a rough time. I know how it is and understand the whole you come into this world alone crap. I have found that I had 5 people out of about 20 support me throughout my journey so far. After surgery I lost 4 friends already from jealousy of me losing weight while their diets tanked... It made me so depressed because my point of view was we can lose together, we can hit the gym together, we can eat healthy together, give advice, and support each other. I didn't see it as a competition as to who got there first.. I just wanted to be healthy and for my friends to be healthy. I would also say about 5 of the people who didn't support me before surgery do now.. in fact some even want the surgery now they they see how well I am doing and my results. You have to do this for you and no one else. Negative people have no room to be in your life and they WILL bring you down and make you feel like crap. Just keeping coming on here and get the positive encouragement that you need and deserve!

UHC
I believe most insurances have open enrollment in November and some in January. If you can upgrade your plan to one that covers it for a year. Good luck to you!

I Am So Happy!
I have wanted to jog/run for year now. One of my goals after surgery is to run in a marathon maybe a year from surgery. Today was my 6 week post op mark and I walked for about an hour and I JOGGED some of it! My kids were so shocked to see mommy running! I am amazed that I was jogging, me! I also realized today that I lost 20% of my body weight already and I am so excited to keep losing more! Dreams do come true!

What did you eat and/or drink while still in the hospital?
I didn't eat day 1 or 2 in the hospital. Only ice chips. Day 3 I was given flavored water and beef broth.

1 month post-op and more tired now
I can usually get my vitamins down, I had mine 10/1 as well, but what I have issues with is getting all my water in and my protein. I can not handle the shakes since surgery. Zofran is my bestie! I am pretty tired as well, I wear down quickly and get very dizzy once I hit that point.

October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!
Surgery date: 10/01/13 Highest weight: 250 Surgery weight: 234 Current weight: 205 (5 weeks post op) Goal weight: 125 I am have had a low heart rate (36-60) since surgery and my doctors are trying to figure out why. So my exercise is limited. I had a bad kidney infection following surgery and they had a hard time clearing it so I had to be put on IV medicine. Constipation is a big pain in the butt (pun intended.. LOL). Getting down all of my liquids and Protein down is still really hard to do and I depend on my Zofran to not get sick still. If I had it to do all over again... I 100% would even with my "speed bumps". My body is feeling so much better in my back and joints. My spirit is so much happier and I constantly smile even on my bad days! I look forward to the new me.. the healthier me and reaching all my goals!

Having a melt down!
Awww. *hugs* I promise it will get better. When I was 2 weeks out I had a few emotional break downs too. It was the same thing.. Man I really want that food they are eating.. Am I really going to be able to do this? (Water works). It' normal I promise it's from hormones mostly and some of it is grieving the food. Keep reminding yourself it's ok to get a little "crazy" sometimes and more importantly remind yourself of the reason you wanted this done! You are going to do great.

How long to get pregnant
They say 2 years to wait ideally. 1 year is the minimum they want you pregnant. I was told the baby will be fine but you can get sick from deficiencies and you will not loose as much weight right off the bat. After the baby weight loss continues though... On that note my sister in law had gastric bypass and got pregnant 2 months out. The baby was perfectly fine and she needed a few shots for Vitamins but was healthy too. She had really low blood pressure through out though.

stomach healed?
I think leaks can come at anytime really but usually the first 6 months is the higher risk time. I was told 3-6 months was heal time fully but everyone is different too.

September 19, 2013
Welcome to the group. Surgery is always a little scary and for this one I was petrified because you don't really know what to expect with YOUR body and you worry about all that can go wrong and if you are going to succeed. You ponder about all the changes that are to come.. Let me tell you I had some complications with my surgery and you know what.. I would do it all again in a heart beat! The hospital I was in took excellent care of me and they were so friendly and caring! You are going to do great and feel awesome!
