    NuWay4Me got a reaction from blessngs2rsleeve in Days 1- 90 -Post Op
    Hi Blessing,
I am neck and neck with you. Had my procedure done on 9.11.13. I weighed 268 a week before surgery 262 the morning of surgery and 253 at my 1st post op appointment Tuesday! I had some gas and I too had very little pain. I awoke with severe nausea but after lots of antiemetics, it went away and as not come back.
Interesting how the post op diets are different, I was on clears for 1st 3 days, then full liquids until yesterday when I started the "blended" diet. It was hard the first day but I have gotten help from my mom finding foods to blend. (have had tilapia, cauliflower, sweet potato, eggs, and beans) Look forward to losing with ya!!

Keep in mind, your gut has a staple line in it. There is this progressive diet for a reason. Be very careful, besides, from day one, we need to put into affect, lifestyle changes, self control, make wise choices. A couple of months ago we made home made pizza. Several years ago we'd have eaten the entire thing. I ate 1.5 thin pieces, my husband ate three and a half, the other three went into baggies for 'later'. I put them in the frig and then decided that I DID NOT NEED or WANT to eat pizza again that week.
I did the 'recipe' in MFP and realized how much cheese was on there and even though it was 2% mozzarella, it was still HIGH in calories. Sooooo, I did something that I have never done in my life, I got the pizza out of the refrigerator and threw it in the trash.
You may not understand a non-scale victory yet, but you will at some point realize what a big deal this is!!!!! I have never felt so in control. This would not have happened prior to surgery, it makes it easier for me to make wiser choices if I need or want to!!! Even at three years out, I still have new and exciting things happening!
The point is, be careful, leaks are more common the first five or six weeks, hence the different stages. Now the real work begins, the doctor did his job, now it's your turn. There is no end date, this is forever! You have a new normal, and it's great, it's life altering. You will not believe how different your life will be a year from now!!! Good luck!

Lory, thank you for posting this. I am a food addict too and my goal is to express and work through how I feel versus drowning it out with a heaping portion of something sweet or salty. I am 6 days post surgery and yesterday was really hard. I was stressi g over work and school and money and wanted desperately wanted to eat to cope but couldn't. I am going to work on my head issues and take every advantage of the vsg to prevent this

Ok...so I challenged my Dietician with the varying Pre-Op diets. She tells me that she just recently attended a class on the latest studies for the diet. Apparently those who do the 14 day all liquid diet have better surgery results. I didn't like that answer. I spoke to the medical assistant at my surgeons office. She said if I get super desperate to chew on something....chew on a small slice of turkey or chicken.
What I am finding out about myself is.....the addiction to food has controlled me for years. This is no joke. I decided today...that I can do this and I WILL! I will get through 11 days with success. I made a choice after 5 years of deliberating doing the surgery. I am in control of me.
I'm finding that I am very aware of my body and how I am feeling. I am expressing exactly how I feel and not stuffing an emotion with a bag of chips. Anyway....thanks for reading. I wish everyone their health goal dreams come true! :-)
