  1. Hi everyone, Im 26 and I have been overweight for most of my life. My current weight is 98kg so I am on the lower end of the BMI scale. My surgery date has been book for the 17th of October but now I'm starting to have second thoughts because this is such a massive life changing decision. Is this right for me? Did I try hard enough? Everything else failed, will this work? Is this normal, I would like to hear from some recent sleevers please thanks Leah
  2. For anyone that reads this thread.... I can now say that after being terrified about all of the things that could happened I went through with the surgery and it was by far the best thing I have EVER done!! You'll go through 1000 different emotions during this journey but it was all worth getting to where I am today : - )

    October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!

Hi guys, my surgery date was the 17th of October, I'm now down 22kg (50 pounds). This was absolutely the best thing I have ever done. I'm currently 20 pounds (9kgs) away from my goal weight and feel AAAAMAZING !!!! Well done everyone : - )
  5. I too worried about liquids going down too "easy" and not feeling full but I'm happy to say I've just gone to my mushy stage and you'll definitely feel full then, so don't stress
  6. Hi everyone, I had my surgery on Thursday and everything is going well so far, it gets better day by day. Now I'm sure this question has been asked before BUT what did you tell people especially your work. I chose not to tell anyone at work about my decision mainly because it's personal and none of their business but also because of the rude fat comments I hear the directors make all of the time (one made at me a couple of years ago). My friend text me and said the directors have brought up my "mystery surgery" in front of 70 people. I'm not happy !!! I have no issue telling people to mind their own business but I have our national conference coming up in a couple if weeks and feel a little weird about going out for dinner with everyone. What did you tell your work colleagues?
  7. Seela I know it can be frustrating, all we can do is follow the diet provided and leave the rest up to our bodies - I hope it starts falling off soon
  8. I lost 7kg and weighed myself again and put 2 back on I've promised myself now that I will not weigh myself again and will wait until each Drs appointment and just concentrate on following the diet provided. It's probably just fluid... ?

    Perth sleevers..

Yea as far as vitamins go I didn't get the chew ones because of the sugar and my NUT has me on elevit from woman ( the pregnancy vitamin ) and I was able to swallow this the morning after surgery, I asked about taking the hair and nail vitamin for hair loss but she said if you take too much it actually does the opposite!!! Apparently as long as you get all your protein in there's nothing more you can do however I will be getting the shampoo and conditioner from AVEDA (available in Perth) for shedding hair - it has great reviews.

    Perth sleevers..

you could make it from scratch but my husband got the canned stuff and drained the veggies out. Mine was Baxters chicken broth from Coles or IGA. If you have time I would of made some from scratch.
  11. I'm sure it will start to come of shortly What do you have in a normal day if you don't mind me asking?

Sorry and yes get benefiber or something as you will get constipated unfortunately - I think that's from all the pain meds. Once I was off them I was fine.

    Perth sleevers..

Hi guys, I was sleeved 8days ago. I would recommend getting skim milk, protein shakes, chicken broth, low fat yoghurt, get bottles of cold water in the fridge and most importantly some diet cordial!! That's all you'll need for the first 2 weeks good luck !
  14. So... I was sleeved a week ago today. Everything went well and I've had no problem getting all my liquids in.... Which leads me to my concern. I'm having no problem getting liquids in (and fast) I feel hungry, this just feels way too easy - I feel like I could eat a 5 course meal!! I'm worried this isn't going to work for me. Was anyone else feeling the same a week out? I need some encouragement please!

    Insecure husbands?

I was just sleeved last Thursday and my husband has been shitting himself and joked around by asking for a skinny prenup hahaha silly man!
  16. Wow what a response !! Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and suggestions. The decision to tell people or who you tell is a very personal one and I'm happy for those of you that feel as though you can shout it from the rooftop... Good on you !!! I definitely do not intend to lie to people but for my own personal interest I was wondering how others dealt with it. Especially for those that may work in the same environment as me and do not want the added stress. Again, thank you to those of you for sharing your thoughts !
  17. My big day has finally arrived and I'm so excited for this new beginning !! Initially I was so confused about going through with the surgery but today I feel confident in my decision. I would like to thank everyone on this thread for being so supportive and listening to my fears and doubts. Here I go.... Wish me luck!!!! X

    Perth sleevers..

Hi ladies, I just had my surgery at Mercy hospital with Dr Cohen on Thursday and was released Saturday afternoon. Everything is going good so far, just trying to get all of my protein in. It gets easier day by day and I'm just so excited for the future. I booked tickets to Bali for 6months time as motivation.
