I forgot to mention my fiance and I are on this journey together. We hopefully will be getting sleeved a week or two apart. In his case not telling seems much easier because his family lives in the south and do not speak on a everyday basis like I do with my family. What are some of the reasons that you told people you were having surgery for? I can't use gallbladder surgery as an option because I have already really had that surgery.

I am quickly approaching my surgery. It became so real yesterday when I left my options class with labs to complete and a pre op appt. ... im so excited because I have truly taken this time to learn as much as I can about the sleeve and the new life style I will be living. I have always been a fashion diva with style most women appreciate despite my 20 to 18 size frame. I have not always been overweight, something that happened once I had a child and settled down in life. My question is do I tell my family, friends, and co workers? In the past ppl in my life have shown envy and negativity with the slightest glimpse of success. What are some of the things you guys tell ppl if you dont share your decision of surgery? For example my mother and I are close and lord knows I love her but she cant hold Water let alone something like me being in the hospital or surgery. My family will want to visit me... any suggestions ???????

I have not been sleeved yet.. u guessed right though if you guessed... A NURSE!! LOL. Im wondering if our patients have made us gain this weight, u know conspiracy theory! They appreciate all that nurses do for them or their loved ones, bringing in delicious treats or what nots

Congratulations! God is good !!! What surgery date did you get. Im also attending wla options class and want to get an estimate on how long the turn around time is from completing options till surgery scheduling. . Thank u

If im not mistaken arent you in northern California. If so we are in two different regions.. nothern vs southern ca. Things may be different

The option classes for my group was offered on tue at 6pm, wed at 6pm, or monday morning I believe 10 am.. which ever one you choose you have to stay in for the whole time. You can only miss 2 classes then you will be dropped. If you miss any classes they do have to be made up. They weigh you every class and you are given a binder with 12 week worth of booklets you go over. The class is 90 minutes. If u are late more than 15 min u will have to make up. No children allowed or friends.. sounds kind of strict, I know! However, a small price to pay for getting sleeved amd beginning life.. I hope this helps you

To get into an options class you pcp should refer you for bariatric surgery . That referral goes to education and training. They first mail you a package about WLS and ask you to call and schedule to attend an orientation. Once you attend thw orientation they will let you enroll in the options program if you are interested in any of their WLS options. Kaiser does lap band, the sleeve, and the ryn-y

Lifestyle changes you will have to make after the surgery . Also during options you are suppose to loose 10% of your body weight

Yes they are mandatory from my understanding. From what I have seen and heard from others Kaiser pretty much approves you once you are enrolled in the options class. You do however , need to complete and pass the labs and psych evaluation. If all is well there then you meet with the surgeon and are given a date. The options classes are to ensure you as the patient understand the permanent lifestyle changes needed to be successful

I just started this journey. . I am down class 1 of a 12 week pre op class. Does anyone know what the next step would be , after the classes? I am a kaiser ( CA) member. I appreciate any feedback given.
