  2. Update....

So it decided to come the morning of the surgery..damn Aunt Flo..lol

Upon arriving to the hospital I explained my situation, the nurse simply said just get into the bed w/ undies off anyway. She did lay a chux pad down for me. Luckily it was just spotting, no heavy flow! In my opinion it seemed as though they were use to it and it wasn't the big shocker I thought it would be. My team was very professional :-) :-) :-)

Side note: I do feel that being on your cycle while your recovering from surgery definitely does add to the lethargic feeling. Once home remember your daily Vitamins and be sure you are taking vit b12..have a wonderful day ladies!!

  3. Well don't worry. I had surgery 4-2-14 and had sex yesterday 4-6-14. It wasn't amazing acrobatic sex but still felt good. We were careful and made sure he didn't put any weight in me. It didn't hurt at all except just a little (scale of 1-10 would've been a 2) when I got there just from tightening my stomach muscles. But the after felt so good I didn't mind the little twinge of pain. In fact I felt better the rest of the day than I had since I left the hospital.

Hahahaha..I love your response!! Im 6 days out now and my sweetie is 12 days out, so we decided this morning to see what we were made of!! All went very well, and honestly I feel like I have more pep in my step. There really isnt any time limit, just listen to your body and know your limits...and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!:-)

  4. How did it go H.K. I was sleeved on the first of April also. I feel good now but had a rough time in the hospital.

Thanks for asking... I had my surgery on the 1st at Kaiser. The first couple of days I had to sleep on the couch, nearly sitting straight up! My bed is pretty high and I wasnt able to do the normal jump..lol. It does get better everyday however. Im currently on stage 2, full liquids. Isopure and Water are my challenges, whereas mint tea and greek yogurt are easily tolerated. The incisions are healing nicely, except the largest one ( they remove the stomach through there) its very sore and kind of has a pulling feeling if you do too much of anything. Vitamins and prilosec are done daily. I see the surgeon tomorrow for my post op appt. I continue to walk and be as active ( walking) as I can until I get cleared for full exercise...my current stats are:

    6 days out of surgery

First day home from hospital.. 234 lbs

    Today...222 lbs

  5. My surgery is Tuesday, April 1st.. I am so greatful to have this opportunity at living an active, healthy, life. Im 5'3 and weigh 225#. I do carry it well and still manage to find great clothes that compliment my " thick" frame. My bf just had his surgery yesterday and thankfully he has had no complications.. except the occasional traveling gas pain. This journey will have great moments along with those " wth did I get myself into" moments. I believe if you stay positive you will have positive results... good luck and congratulations to everyone!! :-) :-)

  6. My hubby and I are both taking this journey together a week apart.. his surgery is today ( 3/26), mine will be 4/1. My question is how soon can begin to have sex again, and are there any expeiences I should be on the look out for??? Good or Bad!!!

  7. So today I had to go in to have the last testing done (EKG) prior to meeting my bariatrician in a few weeks. I got to the check in window and the receptionist began to check me in. Im assuming she sees alot of walk ins that are bariatric surgery candidates , also once I gave her my card she accessed my medical record. She looked around her computer and in a loud enough voice said" tell me you're not havin that surgery to lose weight" I was floored! As calmly as I could I responded with a yes. She then said ..mind you infront of the check in line " girl please you do not need that, you can just exercise and lose that little bit of fat". After stating yes I am opting for WLS , I walked away and waited to be called. I am 5'3 227 #..I do carry my weight well and ppl dont believe that I weigh that much when I tell them. I cant help but feel some type of way! No I haven't been overweight all my life, however this is to much weight for my petite frame. Ive experienced all the yo yo dieting and have given this whole thing alot of consideration .

  8. Its sad when you tell your own mother and the first thing comes out her mouth is about someone else who had the bypass having complications. First off I said sleeve but all she heard was weight loss surgery and instantly spoke negativity. So that is a done deal I will never bring it up or speak to her about it. My husband and children know and my true friends which all have been supportive. Outside of that i'm not saying a word. That goes for work too! I'm just going to watch them try to catch up thinking diet and excerise was all it took. lol I'm so bad and love it!

I have the same feeling about my mother which sometimes can really be hurtful. I don't think she has bad intentions, she just is sort of a blabbermouth. As far as work goes I am a nurse and my insurance is provided by the same company I work for. However, I am taking preventive measures to secure my chart from those co workers who chooses to be nosey and breach HIPAA.
