I've had one in the past. Surprisingly not terrible. They numb your nasal passages so it doesn't hurt and you don't gag either. It's one heck of an odd sensation, but maybe better for people who don't like getting knocked out frequently.

I bought a ton of them thinking they'd be awesome, and I'm sure someone out there thinks they are. I just can't stand the taste. I'll gladly give them ALL to the first taker so they don't go wasted. First to PM me their address and are willing to wait a few days before I can get to the PO will get them free. Shipping included.

I was sleeved on 12/17, just a day before you. For the first two days I was in really bad shape. It gets better. It'll get better more and more every day. I already feel 10x better today than yesterday. Hang in there and keep going to the reasons you did this in the first place.

Thanks all. Recovery was rough. Rougher than I expected, but I'm 4 days post and feeling MUCH better. Lortab/Zofran/Toradol. Best combo on EARTH. See ya on the losers bench.

I just got home from the hospital and had an awesome side nap. I also had a rough recovery, so I see this as a good sign.

No issues at all. Surgeon said all they do is throw in a few extra stitches to keep the stomach from bulging up through the diaphram

OK. So no more snotty nose and a I occasionally have to clear my throat but no cough. Only thing, and I don't think it counts, my temperature is 99.4. Any thoughts?

This is your husband. You're always supposed to be up front with the ones you love. Whether or not he likes it, you have a valid argument. These conversations suck, but this is your guy. He deserves to be told the truth about how you feel.

I did everything that the other posters did as well. I did cheat 4 days into my pre-op diet with pulled pork on a half bun, but that was it. Our favorites will come back. Once I got my head around that I settled into a groove.

I'm down to three days to surgery and have a pretty solid productive cough. The antibiotics I was on for a sinus infection seem to be helpful. The snot and sneezing are over, but I'm worried if I cough up a wad of phlegm before surgery it'll be called off. Does a little cough (productive) ruin my chances? What's the worst case scenario if I go in acting healthy and have the cough after? Then again I'm worried that I've "only" lost 8 pounds in 11 days and that I will get cancelled on for that. I think the best medicine would be a big dose of chill the F out, rest and relax, and get sleeved.

And by pre-op I mean the 2 week diet that the majority of people have to go on. I know some are 3 and some are 4 and I'm super jealous of the people who don't go on one at all. I've lost 8 pounds in 11 days. I feel like I haven't lost enough. Should I be concerned?

I thought i was my sinuses being funny, but I started sneezing and have a little cough. I WILL NOT MOVE MY DATE UNLESS I MUST! I've; got a 6 month insurance approval window and pushing to next summer (my only choice) would ruin that. Does anyone know at what point they will deny you surgery? Temperature? Cough? Runny nose? (And I DO understand that this is all stuff only my doctor can truly answer, but looking for people with experience as well. DOING: 1) Water WATER WATER 2) Zinc 3) Emergen-C 4) Sudafed (the strong kind) with an antihistamine 5) Guaifenesin to thin things out. I'm hoping I can attack this cold head on and knock it down a few days. I have 5 full days to recover as best as possible. Do you think I'll be able to have surgery even with some minimal (if any) symptoms? I'll be devastated but obviously don't want to make myself worse. -J

Having some really weird guilt issues. My parents have made it clear that they support me, but wish I wasn't going to be sleeved next week. They called tonight and offered me $10,000 to put towards a diet food delivery service or a personal trainer. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around what I'm feeling. I told my mom it was a very sweet and thoughtful offer, but that I've tried those things before and I need a more permanent solution as a tool for weight loss. I know they're scared and I haven't done a great job of educating them about the sleeve, but I feel terrible that they want to "offer me more options" with a tremendous amount of money that they most certainly do not have. Thoughts?

Does anyone have any experience with having weight loss and having to change dosages? I'm on lithium and seroquel and am wondering if you take less as you lose weight. Thanks in advance.

I'm getting sleeved on December 17th. My father (and family) have insisted that he comes to stay with me for a week to help care for me (which rocks!). He's basically going to be hunkered down with me in my small NYC apartment for a week. I've found good seats to his FAVORITE play on Broadway. Question is: Am I going to feel good enough to go see a play with him on day 8 post-op or should I send him by himself? (I'd prefer to go with him, but I don't want to feel like crap.) So! 1) Should I go? 2) What did you feel like at 8 days post-op? This is all assuming that I'm healthy with no complications and recovering "normally."

Hey GoodCyn, Thanks for the 3 year update and for confessing your sins to us newbies or pre-ops. It's really good for us to hear things like this. Do 100 hail marys (modified jumping jacks) and get the to the vegetable aisle and gym. Consider your sins absolved. Amen.

I think it comes with the territory. I've been reading " The Emotional First Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery, Second Edition." Reading it once before surgery and then again after. It explains that this is a very common experience. I'm getting sleeved on December 17, so I'm going to have the same thing going on for Christmas.

I don't know where you live, but why don't you shoot over to the closest urgent care (not ER). They can take a look and let you know what is going on. I thought I had my first and most incredibly painful external hemmie after have internals ones years ago and it turned out to be a small tear (fissure). Got a prescription that cleared it right up. Worst case scenario, you'll know what it is and approx how long you'll have to deal with it. Best case you can have whatever it treated on the spot! On the plus side, you'll be the only one at urgent care while everyone else is out trampling each other for televisions.
