ETA - I apologize, I am a year slow apparently...I meant to be checking out the September 2012 board...however, my post below could still be helpful!
I had lost over 80 pounds and have gained back almost 40 of that. I weighed this morning and weighed 260.6. OMG. Over 260. For some reason it didn't bother me as much when I was back into the 250s...
I am in the process of reading a book called Crave - about binge eating. So far, it is really good and has some really good insight if you struggle with it like I do. The part I am on right now talks about journaling what you eat, why you feel you eat it (are you truly hungry, or bored, or avoiding something - I eat to avoid work and emotions). I use myfitnesspal and have been using the "today's food notes" on it to write down everything I am thinking about food - and the time.
I am also going back to the gym at lunch (today was day 1)...it stinks...I am waiting for the magic day that it no longer feels like a chore...I am so not there yet. LOL. Guess it will take more than one day and more than sporadic attendance.
And I also came back to this site...for more support. I have my support group tonight IRL but use all the support I have available to me.
I have a tendency to look at my weight loss journey as an all or nothing thing - that I should go from where I am right now, to perfect overnight...I have to remind myself it doesn't work that way. I am going to try to pick ONE thing to work on each week. This week - more Water...
Hope something out of my brain dump helps...and I hope it made sense LOL

i too say HANG IN THERE!!! you lost one of the people you loved the most--this time is extremely difficult. do NOT give up on yourself. please continue to look for the mental health help that you need...until you get yourself together mentally you are going to struggle physically. there are other excellent suggestions here as well--but please continue to look for professional mental health help.

Hang in there!! You just had a major loss in your life!! My mother passed away a year ago and I gained 10 pounds on top of what I already weighed which prompted me to do the surgery. I had thought about it for several years and finally came to the conclusion that I couldn't do this on my own. LIfe is always going to throw crap at us and we have to bounce back once we have landed from the devastation. You are reaching out and that is the first step to taking care of yourself. I would suggest that you do at least a week of the liquid diet again just to withdraw from the carb monster if that is a problem. It is hard to do but it will release you from the addiction. Once you begin seeing a loss again you will begin to feel stronger and more in charge. Most of us never felt in charge of our weight before the surgery. Remember your tool is still there and ready to help you. Stay on the forum for support!! It has always helped me when I felt weak. If you haven't tried Premier Protein shakes I suggest you give them a try. They really are good and you can get them at Sam's and Costo. You can also try to kick start the loss with the 5:2 diet. If you search it on the forum you will find info on it as well as google it. I truly wish you the very best and I am sending you a hug!!!

Snowbell1975 reacted to UTGal99 in Need Help To Get Focused Again...
I am 21 months out from surgery and have gotten pretty comfortable. I have fallen back into old habits and have gained about 10 pounds back. I know it is not much but I am scared it will spiral out of control if I don't get it under control. BUT, I am struggling with getting back to basics and getting the weight loss rolling again.
Any advice on how to get back to basics and restart is appreciated. The bad thing about being almost 2 years out from surgery is that you can eat more than right after surgery and you are not as diligent and focused. I know I just need to do it but don't even remember where to begin, what to eat, what to do, etc. It feels so foreign to me...
    Please help!!!

i agree with SS. also i think because we are in this situation you need to consider self-sabotage. we have all done it, that is why we are here.sadly. if your surgery is validated, and you are in fact sleeved, and your labs are all normal. do try a do over. do the shakes for 6 weeks, then 30mgs of Protein for three meal, and no carb Snacks. drink all the darn Water and take the power multivites. if you are sleeved, that is unchanged. (anyone with a vertical sleeve can still drink Hershey syrup) you did do this surgery for a reason, get you mind set, get a goal, take baby steps, in one direction, go to the gym, and be good to yourself, no not snack bad, you don't reward alcoholics with booze if they have been sober for a few months.. please keep a good thought and keep us posted
