  1. Jeez, Jen, that sucks! I'm so sorry. But they're right, it could've been way worse. Thank goodness y'all are ok.

Oklahoma has had so many earthquakes that it's unreal. Not huge, ground-ripping fissures, but about a 4.5 or so on the Richter. They seem to be everywhere. And it is scary and stressful.

Leigh Anne, it is pretty awesome. I'm getting more and more motivated. I'm starting to feel and look better so I'm a happy girl.

  2. Looking good! That's so awesome!! I think I went from maybe a size 28 (I actually haven't bought pants other than yoga pants in a couple years) and I'm almost a 20, maybe. I had a pair of red 5 right fit jeans that I tried on the other night and they were way too big. And after some googling I think they were the equivalent of a 22. So I'm thinking maybe I'm not far from a 20, and hopefully a pair of jeans from old navy!

    Woohoo!!! You are rockin it!

I know what you mean! I can't wait to get some comfy Old Navy jeans! I swear they are the most comfy jeans a person could own!!!

  3. I so agree. I had 3 c-sections and a radical hysterectomy and the sleeve surgery was by far rougher. I had convinced myself it would be a breeze but I was so wrong. That being said, I am 2 months post-op, 42 pounds lost and if needed I would do it again in a heartbeat. No regrets at all, just wasn't prepared for the recovery. I took 3 weeks off work and was ready at that point to go back, just a little tired. Good luck.

Oh, I may have come across like I regretted it, but I'm with you 100%. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!!!

  4. I am 6 weeks post op. Down 35lbs. Very happy with that! My issue is my stomach feels bloated all the time. I don't know if it's what I'm eating or something else. Anyone else having issues with this?

I felt like that til I took milk of magnesia. Apparently it was gas and I needed to clean out my bowels.

  5. Hey April, I have the fatigue also. I'm glad someone posted that her Dr said it can last for 3 mo's or so. There is very little about how long the fatigue can last. I never had fatigue after surgery last this long. This is a MAJOR trauma out bodies have been through and it will take time for it to heal. Also loosing weight puts more stress on our bodies. Taking it one day at a time, taking our Vitamins and following the Dr's orders will work in the long run. Your right everyone is different and we all heal differently. I got Planters fasciitis 2nd day after surgery. I noticed when I started to walk a pain in my heel. I'm grateful I have an indoor pool to walk in because regular walking can be painful after a short time.

Omg, my sister had that and it was agonizing to walk so I'm familiar with that pain. They made special insoles for her that ended up being just as painful and no help. As she lost it did get better though, so keep it in mind. (((Hugs)))

  6. How much have u lost?

43 pounds since I started. 25 since surgery on feb 18. I had a pretty good stall that I think I broke as I'm a pound down today.

As for energy, my doc says the first 3 months can be tiresome. That it'll come back as my body adjusts to the fewer calories.

  7. Not to discourage others, as I'm honestly truly happy for those that have a fast recovery, but I'm 5 weeks out and am still very fatigued. Very. It doesn't matter that I reach Protein and liquid goals. I feel like crap most days after 4 pm because I'm still so tired.

I also bent and ripped scar tissue about 1.5 weeks after I was home. So even if you FEEL great, take it easy the first 6 weeks as far as bending and lifting. I fight nausea each and every day.

This is my 5th surgery and hardest recovery I've ever had. It isn't all roses and butterflies for everyone. Roses have thorns and butterflies were once caterpillars. No matter how long it takes just keep pushing on. I firmly believe in this surgery and wouldn't change it for the world, but each individual is on a separate journey. I think it's a bit wrong to compare recoveries and weightloss against other patients.

  8. Oh gosh, I'm really worried, I haven't been able to stick to the diet I'm one week out for surgery and I smoke more now thinking about quitting than I did two weeks ago. Do anyone screw up completely but still have surgery and did fine or what should I do.

My doc's office said the pre-op diet isn't just to shrink your liver, but to see if you have the resolve to stick to a diet and test yourself to know whether or not you are ready. I am not trying to judge you or complain, but you asked. If you went to my surgeon she would not perform a surgery on you. Smoking increases the risk of blood clots. You could die. She has not had a death and wouldn't perform the surgery just based on that alone.

It's normal to be nervous. And maybe you're sabotaging yourself subconsciously because you honestly aren't ready. I'd talk to a therapist about it and go from there.

    Best of luck, April

  9. When I woke up from my sleeve I honestly thought something had went wrong because I was in so much pain. I've had 4 other surgeries and none prepared me for the pain level I was at.

Then, I was bending about a week and a half after surgery and ripped some internal scar tissue. It was agonizing.

It happens. Some people heal faster. Some people have little or no pain. I wasn't one of those. I'm 5 weeks out today and feel fine except every once in a while when I'm lying down and twist wrong.

Hang in there. It will get better. I know it doesn't seem like it, but it will.

  10. I wish I'd have known I couldn't drink plain Water after surgery. It makes me really nauseous. I was such a Water drinker and now it has to have something in it. Mio or crystal light. Lemon wedges, if there is plenty of lemon juice.

Also, once I was feeling so much better, about a week or so after I got back from the hospital, I bent and ripped my scar tissue in my deepest stitch. Be careful. Just because you feel a lot better does not mean to stop taking it easy. Take care of yourself as best you can the first weeks after surgery.

  11. I think I just broke my first stall. Weighed myself for the first time in a week, and I'm down 3 lbs. Although I think it had more to do with the fact I have a good BM fir the first time in 6 days. And no white poop!

I haven't in a couple of days but I'm so gassy!!!!!

You just had a 3 pound poop!!! I need one of those. Lol

  12. Yea I think I've been eating too few calories as well. I also got my monthly friend (28 days later!) which for me it's amazing it's on time! How many calories are you eating at this point? I've definitely lost inches and feel better. My sugars definitely reflect it.

Way too few. Maybe 500 on a good day. It's a full-time job Bc nothing fits. My sleeve is really tight in the mornings. Really tight. At lunch I had one little piece of grilled chicken from my sister's fajitas dipped in guacamole and about a tablespoon of refried Beans. dinner I'll eat about the same. Right now I'm gonna try really hard to get a muscle milk or Protein Shake down.

  13. Too few calories can definitely cause you to stop losing. You need calories to burn calories. Your body will go into starvation mode otherwise.

Also keep in mind stalls happen. Try not to weigh every day. It gets discouraging when you do that. I've lost no weight in a little over a week but I've lost an inch around my neck and an inch in my waist. Our bodies do need to stabilize. They've been through a lot.

  14. Ok all. I was a little frustrated with this discussion board. I felt no one really cared about me. But being 3 1/2 weeks out I'm a overly emotional. So I apologize. Now I need real help. I've been stuck/fluctuating 4 oz for 6 days. I'm angry and frustrated. I feel defeated and like surgery was a waste of my time. I'm not getting all my Protein or my Water in. I do walk 45 minutes a day. Don't know if I will today. I wasn't feeling so great yesterday. So am not loosing because I'm not getting all my water & protein in. Yes I need to get rid of caloric drinks and I'm doing my best with that. But when I eat or drink it still isn't that much. What is going on??? Please help!!!!

I've been at the same exact weight for over a week. But I'm losing inches. I've not reached my liquid goal even once. Trying hard today, though.
