    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

I know SJ, I was packing and I swear I hear something pop and it literally felt like I'd been stabbed. I gasped n fell back. Freaked my friend out. I couldn't catch my breath and I laid there holding my side. Today I had to see the doc and am now all codeined up. Even after the pain meds I can barely move. I kept saying I think I popped something open and crying like a baby to the doctor.

Ok, my hospital list: Stuffed bear or small firm pillow for pressure when getting up or down, coughing, and my ride home. (I have a 3hr ride home) I was told to put a bright pillowcase on it instead of white so it won't get confused with hospital linens or forgotten. Blistex. Some hospitals don't allow Chapstick due to the glycerine in it, but blistex is allowed. Phone charger attached to a small extension cord. Panties. They let my sister wear them after surgery and she felt less exposed in them when male nurses were checking her incisions, etc plus you can tuck your drain into them while you're up and about if you have a drain. Toothpaste and toothbrush Deodorant Hairbrush I plan on wearing the same clothes and flip flops home as I wear to the hospital. Gas x strips Lotion. I remember my sister's hands were so dry and she was always asking for my lotion. List of ppl to contact n tell them I made it out of surgery in case I'm too out of it. My bf is out of state and will be wondering how I am. My kids will be worrying too. Tweezers. You never know when ur gonna need to pluck or tweeze Medical binder Socks Change for vending machine CPAP Spirometer Bag of meds

Well..... I've had a rough go of it. Pain, nausea, trouble with Protein making me gag, lol But yeah, I'd do it over in a heartbeat. Funny thing is, I have severe spinal stenosis with an exorbitant amount of lower back and hip pain. I walked with a walker for a year until I started taking a drug called Lyrica. Lyrica helped my nerve pain and I was able to walk for a limited time with minimal pain. NOW I take no bp meds and no Lyrica. Sure I get fatigued Bc I just had a major surgery. But.... No back or hip pain. I've already eased enough pressure off of my back and hips to discontinue what I literally thought of as a miracle drug. Funny thing is, you'll hear people say "after surgery it gets better every single day" and they aren't BSing you. It's true. Every day you feel better physically and get stronger emotionally. Best thing I've ever done April

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Amen to that. I'm only 10 days out and am in the process of moving. It's way too easy to put everything before your own health when you're not vigilant. Today is definitely going to be a "focus on me" day.
  14. Woot woot!!!! Long distance chocolate wasted!!!!
  15. Of course it did! Lol I had to get chocolate wasted all by myself.
  16. Hunger can still be present after surgery. But.... Oftentimes it may be that the sufferer needs an acid reducer, as acid mimics hunger. Or it's head hunger and not true hunger. It could also be that protein intake isn't high enough, or too many carbs are triggering hunger. Each individual differs and if you experience hunger after surgery there are lots of reasons why. Your doctor will work with you on the best way to eliminate it, if possible.

    Checking in

Hiya!!! Glad to hear from ya good to know they are getting your levels up and taking good care of you. You'll be home n dropping weight before you know it.
  18. Thanks! So far others have been gagging me so this will give me another choice. Which are your faves?
  19. I had surgery the same day. All I'm supposed to worry about is staying hydrated until my 2 week post op visit when I'm cleared for advancing my diet to puréed foods. I tried Protein shakes and I gag. Literally. And the smell of the unflavored gags me. The only protein I'm getting for the moment is from Greek yogurts and my doc says to just stay hydrated for now. If it weren't for cream of chicken Soup, sf puddings and Greek yogurt I'd starve. Lol April
  20. I cried today. I'd been out and about with my friend everywhere. EVERYWHERE!!!! We are both moving and were shopping around for things we needed and I was in the middle of walmart and this overwhelming fatigue hit me. I felt so tired and I just started to cry. Right there in front of the soy sauce and rice noodles. I had to go sit in the car. I know. I'm a weirdo. But my guy is in Washington state and I'm in Oklahoma. I haven't seen him since October and it just hit me that he's not here to bolster me when I need support. I felt utterly alone in an ocean full of bodies. And the fatigue from doing too much today got to me. I know right now that my body is being flooded with hormones and it's normal to be overly emotional, but that didn't stop it from happening.

It WILL work, so get that thought out of your head right now. There are lots and lots of people on this site whose doc has advanced their diets as fast as yours and they do just as well as anyone else. Kick those negative thoughts out of your head.
  22. Tomorrow is my surgery day. I can't sleep because I'm finally getting a little anxious. Don't get me wrong, I'm eager too... But anxiety is creeping in a bit. It's odd, the range of emotions. I have many. Anger and resentment towards myself for letting my weight creep up so high, for not making healthier choices, for not doing this sooner. Lol Sadness for not being able to consider food my comfort and friend. For not being able to hide behind my weight. For my kids, whose mother isn't able to keep up with them. Terror of the IV, of not waking up. Both mine and my BF's mother went in for surgery and never made it back out. Mine had lung cancer and was in the middle of a surgical procedure and didn't make it. His was in the middle of a heart procedure and didn't make it. This scares me. I know that their circumstances were different and I have the utmost confidence in my surgeon... But I'm still scared. Excitement that there really is an opportunity to restart my metabolism and, by making the right nutritional choices, I can lose weight and actually keep it off. Oh, the changes in life will be phenomenal. Thankful that I've received so much support here and built great friendships with people that are able to understand my struggles. (You know who you all are and I feel blessed to have met you) I know emotions run rampant right before surgery and being bipolar sure doesn't help, but it would sure be nice to know I'm not the only one who feels this way. Thank you for taking the time to read this long post, April

Remember that it's normal to have a bit of a stall around the 3 week mark. The dreaded stall for your body to play catch-up. So put the scales away if it starts getting to ya.
