  1. Wow people its her thread if u don't like it don't reply her opinion is hers not yours if u want someone to be all rainbows and unicorns then why are u here title is rants and raves not the world is perfect....

I wasn't aware that we had to all agree or get permission to respond to posts. We are all equally important on this forum. Believe me I'm pretty sure people posting on a bariatric forum are aware that the world is not perfect.

  2. I don't know you and I think your attitude is wonderful for now. I am one of those that paid big time for this and still have complications after 17 months.. I wish this on no one' date=' ever. You may think that you have it all sewed up because you are handling things right now, but you don't say that you will just deal with it...I worked my ass off for this sleeve and almost died for it. But I would never make the statement that I would just deal with whatever comes. To be honest. You don't know what will come or what won't because it is your trip, no one else. I think if someone feels pain they have a right to say if they need to. some just need to say it and hear it is okay. No one ever thinks that it will be them that has the real difficulties. I rolled the dice and won the lottery of 14 surgeries, coma and a hell of a lot more. Rant all you want. But for me I Celebrate the easy victories everyone has because no one is really ready for the opposite. not even you hun![/quote'] That's great you survived your hardships. As you said you don't know me. I know from past experiences I can get past anything. I had to fight tooth and nail to get cleared psychologically because of some of the things I experienced while deployed. But I overcame and proved one psych doc wrong and here I am. Doing better than those that got approved right away. Your blues are not mine but I don't throw a pity party. I tell myself that is the past and it will not hinder me. It's what I do next that defines me. So yes I can rant about whiners. It's my right to in this thread. This is the Perfect Place. I don't think some comprehend what I said or that just read whine and get offended. If your going to rant & rave, whine, do it, whatever make you feel better. My POINT is that REGRETTING surgery over a few Expected Temporary symptoms is unnecessary whining. That is bit much. Maybe they weren't really ready for this Serious surgery.
When I am on here my goal is to help, educate and enlighten those who need support in one way or another. I hope that others will help, educate and enlighten me as well. I don't throw a pity party for myself and never have. If I did I would not have made it..OKAY! Taking my experience and putting it into a pretty little blues package was very hard of you. Just because you are military does not give you the right to be a Drill Sargent on here. I am happy that you can stick it out and will push aside anything that might get in your way. That is a great attitude. But not everyone is as strong as you. Are they not allowed to express how they feel as you are allowed. Stepping up to the plate will be a fine example if you endure any hardships over your decision to have WLS. But until you do....Anytime now or in the future, you cannot guarantee that you will handle it perfectly just because you were taught to endure...Life has a way of kicking us in the arse when we think we have it all together and humbles us once again.. If someone wants to tell me on here that they are having trouble even with the first issues of WLS. I will chose to either reply or pass over it. You can do the same!

Thank you for this. I couldn't believe what I'm reading. We are all dealing the way we can.

  3. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and suggestions. Had my 2 week post op and saw the dietician. They think I'm doing well, but that my sleeve is very sensitive and I need to baby it. So my dietician and I came up with a plan that I am pleased with. I feel better today as well. Plus I'm down a total of 18 pounds since surgery! 30 including post op diet!

  4. After a bit of a tough time, I got a shipment of 4 x 18 packs of Premier chocolate Protein as well as 2 large bottles of liquid vitamins. OMG the box was heavy! I am a bit surprised by the Vitamins, my Dr. would not sign off on anything but the protein. Plus, the dosage is 1 1/2 TB four times a day. There's no way I want to take these 4 times a day. I emailed Insure Nutrition to please cancel the liquid vitamins. I have UHS insurance and CVS Caremark for prescriptions. My biggest issue was getting my Dr to sign the script. I am so glad I came across this thread.

I agree! I am canceling the vitamins as well! Yuck!

  5. Thanks for the reply Alex and I do understand the fact that DS is the least common surgery done of the 5 most popular surgeries. I also realize there are upwards of 10 bariatric procedures currently being done...and not all could be represented prominently here due to space constrictions, etc. But I also recognize that popularity of procedures is determined not only by efficacy of a given procedure, but also by the surgeons time constraints. Time is money, and if a surgeon can do 5 lap bands/sleeves per day vs, 2 DS's per day-at a similar costs basis, guess which they'd rather do? But as more and more patients DEMAND DS, surgical practices will be forced to offer them. Hence my desire to make information available to patients so THEY can decide what's best for their needs. Bariatric Pal has a chance to help to "get out the word" about DS, and so IMO should prominently display it as an available surgery type on it's front page, in addition to "the end of the weight loss surgery forum description" area. :P Haha! And honeyg317! I do hope I've not offended you in my passionate defense of DS. I realize we are ALL in the bariatric family together regardless of our chosen procedures, and declaring one to be better or worse than another treads on other folks decisions and could offend them. There are MANY factors one must consider when choosing a surgery type. Cost for procedure AND expenses going forward, current BMI, risk factors, personality types, etc. Too many to list here! I had honestly forgotten that I wasn't posting in the DS board, but the general. It wasn't my intention to be a zealot here, but re-reading my message the use of "superior" and "lesser" to describe surgeries certainly comes across that way. Oops! [/quote

Thanks I appreciate that. Nothing wrong with passion! We are all here to support one another. It doesn't matter which procedure you have as long it's the right choice for you. I hope you are successful in getting your message across!
