  1. Hi all! Just getting started-still in the pre-appointment stages and just curious to know if anyone else is using Transformations at River Oaks in Flowood, MS? Thanks for your time.
  2. No, they are just concerned with you keeping hydrated. They won't make you drink anything except water if you don't want it. You have to get 32 oz in before they will discharge you (if they plan on you leaving at noon). I'd be glad to talk to you in person. I'll private message you my home phone number.
  3. I only use the protein powder in broth. It is horrible added to beverages. Really the first 4 days your stomach won't tolerate the protein anyway. I'm barely tolerating it on day 6. Just focus on staying hydrated until about a week out. I made sugar free pudding and added it to that. It is undetectable in it. Am thinking of adding the chicken flavor to some thinned grits (on the list for full liquids). Will let you know how that goes.
  4. Good luck to you!! I hope all goes smoothly. Go ahead and stock up on some alternative Water options--I promise--nothing will taste right for a few days and it is pertinent that you stay hydrated. Something noone explained to me--take normal drinks--I know everyone says sip, but that is a mis-term. All they mean is DO NOT GULP. A normal drink goes down waaaay more easily and less painfully than what I considered a SIP. Sips were killing me- I could feel them from my throat to the bottom of my stomach and that hindered me from drinking adequately. Take a real drink. I promise, it's easier. Good luck!!!
  5. Several of us are BCBS of MS state employee plan. they will only cover the surgery at CMMC even though dr. cummins operates at River Oaks too. I'm sure it's because of the difference in cost. CMMC staff were very helpful and friendlier than any I have dealt with. I had a pleasant experience there.
  6. Hi everyone! I survived! the first night was pretty horrible. in my drugged stupor, i confused the morphine pump with the nurse call button and kept pumping more drugs into my system which made me more nauseous. i threw up 3 times, but got it sorted out finally. i passed my leak test the next morning and they brought what seemed like a feast on that lunch tray. although, i did not want a bite of anything to eat. had a rough day yesterday (day 3) but made it through and today, day 4, already seems like a better day. am enjoying some decaf coffee because its the only thing that doesnt taste sweet beyond measure. am getting some sugar free gatoraid today-plan to drink it to excess to make up for slacking on the water (due to the sweet/soapy taste everything has-even plain water). am looking forward to moving to full liquids tomorrow. already planning my pudding fest! oh--if you have never heard this line before--BELIEVE IT---"never trust a fart". sorry if TMI but seriously, half of my walking is from running back and forth to the bathroom not knowing if I just have gas or you know what!!!!! I wish all of you the best in your journeys!! Let's keep up and keep each other informed and supported. going to go get a hot shower now! have a wonderful Sunday-attend church if you are able. May God's glory be found in all of our stories.
  7. OK so everything just got kicked into panic mode. Dr. Cummins moved my surgery date up to October 30th. That is NEXT WEDNESDAY!!!!! Totally freaking out trying to get everything worked out and things at work in order before I can leave. deep breaths. . .
  8. You are not alone. I have had these exact feelings multiple times. I have to keep reminding myself that if I could lose the weight myself, I already would have. Yes I've been doing the 1200 calorie diet for about a month now but I also know that I could not continue to do it forever. I have messed up some days. But, some days aren't every day. I get back on the horse and start again. The sleeve is going to be the tool that enables me to daily limit my intake. Yes, I will be giving up some things, but in the long run those things are what got me where I am. Since I can't say no to myself, my sleeve will answer for me. I hope you can find your own peace with your decision.

Yes, I use my fitness pal too. I have lost 2 BMI points and she joked that if I lost anymore I wouldn't qualify for surgery! (they use your initial appointment BMI so no taksies backsies!) I had some days where i didnt follow the diet to the T but for the next 2 weeks it will be strictly what is listed-2 protein shakes, 1 snack of light non-fat yogurt or fruit and a lean cuisine/healthy choice meal. The shakes have to be 200 calories or less so I'm going to start halving my skim milk with water. just cant stomach the shakes with all water and the meal replacement shakes can get pricey. I talked with some folks in the office and they said that you will have 2 nights in the hospital-even though to begin with they tell you it's only overnight. not sure why but i'd rather be there I think!

She likes for patients to lose before surgery to go surgery be easier. It's all to shrink your liver. She does not require the full liquid diet 2weeks before surgery. You do 2 protein shakes and one lean cuisine meal and snacks. I have been doing thAt diet for about 3 weeks and it is do-able. My surgery is Nov. 4.
  12. Nutrition classes yesterday. Came away feeling scared and wondering how in the world am I going to do this for the rest of my life. I thought my mind was made up and now, I'm so back and forth it's crazy!!!!!!!
  13. I have a birthday celebration for my 1 year old niece when I will be 3 weeks out. I am planning on playing with the baby while everyone else eats! Kids always get away with not eating at events--I'm gonna try hanging out with the kids more!!
  14. hang in there! you had some Fluid problems so your body is probably just trying to adjust. everybody responds differently and you will get there!! keep on keeping on!
  15. Yes, I got the notice about our out-of-pocket increasing in 2014 too. What a crock of bull !! If it doesn't happen for me November 4th, It's not gonna happen at all. Glad you've found an alternative route and praying that it works out for you!!!!!
  16. Jackie glad u r home. Why did you have to stay 2 days instead of just one? I had my phase 2 tests today. Somehow I think that will be the easiest part of all of this. Hope you are able to get some rest tonight! Take care!
  17. Well, I will say a prayer for you that things get better. From everything I've read, the first little while is bad for everyone. Make sure you get your fluids for sure-don't want you getting dehydrated. Take care of yourself!
  18. Sure hope you are doing ok--so sorry that you had to sit all day waiting. Hope things are going well now. Give us a clue to how it's going!
  19. Feel like talking yet? I have worried for you the past couple days. Let us hear from you when you are up to it.
  20. Good luck today, Jackie! Praying all goes well and that you are feeling up to sharing with us soon!
  21. Just found out that I have been approved!! My surgery will be November 4th!! I can't shout it from the rooftops because I haven't told anyone except my husband and my mom, but I can scream it here! APPROVED!!! APPROVED!!! So ready to begin this journey!!!
  22. OK so it's official--I'm APPROVED!!! Surgery date November 4th!! Phase 2 testing next Wednesday!
  23. Oh no! Don't give up--it's just a couple months. I know paying the deductible again is horrible and it is not something I would be happy about---but, they haven't said NO--just LATER.
  24. Talked to Paige--submitted for approval and she is just proceeding like they are going to approve it and planning on a surgery date of November 4th--no official word as of this moment though. She did go ahead and schedule me for the edu class on October 8th! So, we'll get to meet face to face! And we'll be sleeve sisters with the same surgery date!! They better look out!
