  1. I went to the seminar August 5th and the coordinator at the weight loss center called me a few days later, she told me that if I wanted I could start my six months in August and it will count. My first Dr. apt was on 8/21, so I guess it depends ask the coordinator at your weight loss center he/she might know.

What I've noticed about a lot of these insurance companies, is that they make you jump through a ton of hoops come time for approval. I read one lady's thread on this site and she she skipped a month, and when the Bariatric center submitted her info to her insurance, not only did they deny her but they told her that she had to start the entire process all over because her six months weren't consecutive. She was HEATED!! I'm not saying this will be the case with you, but what I am saying is check, check, and double check. I felt like her coordinator should have caught that, that's why I'm constantly on the phone with my insurance co or coordinator to ensure she's doing her job and to make sure the insurance co is on board with everything that's going on.

  2. Have you ran into anyone that haven't seen you since pre op? What was their reaction? I'm talking about people who haven't seen you in months or years. My son plays football and football season is from July to November, so I won't see any of the parents or coaches until about 4 or 5 moths post op and I wonder all the time what will they say how will they react when 50lbs or hopefully more is gone. My co-Workers and classmates will see the weight come off, I'm assuming their reactions will be slightly different. What's your reaction stories?

  3. Congratulations!!!

  4. Awesome progress and they will be shocked...My only regret was waiting to long before I was sleeved.

Same here, I constantly wish I would have done this sooner. I will sit and think if I would have done this when I first went to the seminar two years ago I will be a my goal weight NOW...but like you said Susan better late than never

  5. Ladies, I get sleeved tomorrow and have been extremely nervous. (Normal....I know) Like so many here, I hate shopping and tend to wear the same few outfits that I feel comfortable in. My closest friend is just about the complete opposite of me. 5'10, blonde, 135, and legs for days. I CAN NOT WAIT to be about to go to Nordstrum Rack or J.Crew with her! Hearing your stories has given me butterflies and I am PUMPED for tomorrow instead of scared! Thanks Gals!!

Good luck! and you're in my prayers

  6. I know what you mean when you say "security blanket". What I thinks going on is even though you weren't satisfied with your previous weight, you were used to it, and even though you're happy with your weight loss, your brain has a problem with adjusting to "change" whether its good or bad. And just like athchick said your brain must be foggy and still seeing the "old" you in the mirror. For some reason we can't see the change in the mirror,I look in the mirror everyday and I didn't see the weight come on, so I wont see it come off. I weigh 255lbs, but when I look in the mirror in my mind I don't look that bad. On the other hand if I see a picture of myself I'll go into to a deep depression, and start to feel like I weight 600lbs, and have to get the weight off by any means necessary. Yeah its crazy the way our minds works.

  7. Hey RickMG, I'm so excited for you, four more days until the big day!! Dr. Morales is dong my sleeve too. I haven't personally met him yet, he seemed very nice and down to earth at the seminar. I have with met the nurse, psych, and NUT so far, they were really nice. Everything is running pretty smoothly so far, now only if I can control my patience. It's nice to see that everything is going smoothly for you too, and please update once you get your sleeve done, I would like to know how it went. Have you been to any of the meetings yet?

  8. I had some struggles with the office staff too prior to surgery. If you look at my posts from this Spring, you'll see where I vented. Just a few weeks ago, somebody kinda went off on me in that post. I'm thinking it was somebody from the office based on their lack of profile info, no other posts, and comments that only an insider could make. I choose to bite my tongue instead of reply but was pretty offended. My experience was my experience -- I'm a reasonable person as I've been in service most of my career. Getting steamed again just thinking of that person's post.

Anyhow, sorry you are having a bad experience with somebody. Luckily, I think most of the people there are fantastic. Hope it resolves itself soon!

Yeah I remember reading that post and she did go waayy over board!!!! That was very big of you to not respond to that crap. Loveit2012 the staff at De Paul is very nice, I haven't had my sleeve done yet but I have met with psych, NUT, and the nurse practitioner, and they were all wonderful. If you do decide to leave I would let it be known by whoever's in charge. Maybe if they see that their loosing patients behind this, they'll get it together.

  9. She is my best friend. I have other means of support through other friendships. I just hate that I am going to possibly lose my best friend for doing something for me and my health. Just hurt and confused.

I don't think this situation is serious enough to lose a good friend over. I too believe my best friend is fearful of me having this surgery, because just like your friend she gets quiet whenever I bring up having the surgery, she shows no interest in it AT ALL. She's thin and she's always getting all the attention, so yeah I believe this worries her. I think her cousin had WLS ( but mumming the word ), so she knows how effective this surgery is. But I don't let that get in the way of our friendship, we just took our kids to zoo this past weekend and I just didn't bring it up, we had plenty of other things talk about and we still enjoyed each others company and had fun. I won't let this situation define our relationship, not saying that you are, but yeah I definitely know how you feel.

  10. I'm really worried about the amount of loose skin I'm going to have. I'm 5'1 & around 222. I know Tummy Tuck is always an option but that is expensive.

There are a few threads with people showing pics of how they look after all the weight is gone and they don't look bad at all. I think it all just depends the person. This one girl put her pics up and she looked GOOD!! She said she didn't really work out at all, it just bounced back. Type loose skin in the search bar
