  2. Leaving for the hospital in 1.5 hrs!!! I started my process June 11, 2013...hard to believe in 5hrs I will be sleeved!!!!
  3. Yep! I keep thinking about going in and waking up in recovery...
  4. I did my paperwork, labs and chest xray yesterday too! Oh well, I'm sure ill be too wired and jittery to sleep in plus Atlanta traffic is heinous!
  5. We were told to cook healthy and blend away! Must tastier than baby food.
  6. I forgot to ask how they are going to get you admitted and prepped in under an hour?! They are fast!
  7. Actually, someone asked that in my pre-op class yesterday with the bariatric nurse...Pretty much the answer was as soon as you feel up to it. Most of the women in my support group waited a few days to a few weeks... some said the surgery increased their appetite
  8. I have the second spot, but I have to report there by 6:45am. My surgery is scheduled for 9:45. I am ready!
  9. Did u have a barium swallow test in the hospital prior to bring discharged after your vsg?
  10. My pre-op diet is going well too. I am only on low carb diet. I have lost about 6 pounds so far. I'm pretty happy with that. I know you liquid pre-op-ers will shatter that! Can't wait! just 6 days until my pre-op. I have a swarm of butterflies in my stomach constantly though
  11. It will not appear under claims until after you had your surgery and Aetna processes the claims. To my knowledge there is no place to view your pre-certs. I was approved last Thursday (It took 13 days), you can call the number on your card and they will transfer to the pre-certification dept. Then you can ask for their direct line and check back periodically for movement on your file. Hope that helps!
  12. Finally...approved! Relieved more than anything! In control and ready for Oct 2nd!
  13. Congrats! I am in 2 weeks with Dr. Macik! Please post to let me know how it goes! As far as the hair loss, the only thing is get that Protein as soon as you are able. Seems like the best way to combat it. Also, Biotin...but I haven't bought any, not sure if I plan to...I have too much hair, right now I could stand to lose a few strands! lol
  14. Lol! I could have written this! I know exactly how you are feeling. I am on day 12 waiting for insurance approval. That have up to 15. I think they intend to take every last one of them :-/
  15. What are your thoughts on this: I don't want to judge anyone's journey but there is a girl in my support group that has a starting weight of more than 450-500 pounds. She is roughly 3 months out and has only lost 70# (I guess its slowing now) so far. She came to the group in despair about a change in her medical condition (lymphedema) that is causing her to no longer be able to tolerate walking for exercise. She wanted suggestions regarding alternate exercise. I suggested swimming but she said her legs must stay wrapped. Soooo, here's where I ask about her diet. I asked her if she is logging her food (since plenty of people have not exercised routinely throughout and diet is 80% of weight loss)...She got super defensive and said that she doesn't log her food because she doesn't eat meals...she snacks! I was stunned and didn't know how to respond to that. If we snack all day doesn't that defeat the purpose of our sleeve? Who here is planning to log their food? Who is not?
  16. I am also Oct 2nd and supposed to be starting my preop diet tomorrow...but I'm still waiting for Aetna to approve me. Tomorrow is day 12...per the policy they have until Saturday to make a decision. But I can't get excited until I'm no longer anxious about a decision. Send me positive vibes. Going to start my diet tomorrow on faith that everything is going to go as planned.
  17. They sometimes enter an arbitrary date in for insurance approval, so it is possible that the date could be different....but Congrats!!!!
  18. Yes...wow! I've never seen one that did. But that may be the catch. I hope you can find another plan. Watch for exclusion criteria before signing up...good luck!
  19. How could your insurance drop you? Are you planning to purchase insurance on your own? If so, none of those plans will cover WLS. Without more info on the previous ins...hard to answer....Sorry you are going through this.
  20. Congrats! What insurance do you have? Waiting is making me nervous! I have Aetna and its been a week already!
  21. What insurance do you have? Mine was just submitted on Friday. Waiting is the worst :-(
