  1. This is my first post and I just wanted to get the pictures over with.My Surgery date was August 8 and I weighed 252.My CW is 220 and my next weigh in is in 4weeks on Nov.11.My doctor wants me to be 200 by then.I struggle everyday and seem to do better the days I work because I'm away from the house! When I'm at home I'm less active because I'm sooo tired!Anyway here's my pictures!I posted them on my FB page thinking no one would really be able to tell a difference because when I look in the mirror I don't see the loss everyone else does! The first picture was taken my Anniversary July 23 and the other Oct15.
WHAT!! You thought nobody would notice the difference? You dealing with a friend list of visually impaired people...

  2. Second try to add attachments' date=' 8weeks out and struggling. Slow loser but hanging on list 41 pounds [/quote'] There is a definite change in your general body composition young lady. And, think about it, would you have lost 41 pounds forever without the sleeve? Any loss is gone forever now, doesn't that feel good?...

  3. If you get what you pay for then you get a rich hospital!! When I inquired at the hospital near me in Indiana the surgeon wanted 6000 but the hospital 20 000 dollars!!! Truth is, you really just get ripped off by the hospitals and not by the surgeons...so not sure what you pay for, but the surgeon isn't really expensive.

Since the surgeon has to do the procedure in the hospital, why separate the two costs? That could be misleading for those seeking to self pay...

  4. Everyone keeps saying you get what you pay for. I bet there is truth to that in a way that if someone has been doing it since the 80's as opposed to the past 3 years. I've been trying to decide which surgeon and facility to go with and and I think there is not truth in a way that complications can arise from any surgery and surgeon and facility. I would like to think that if I am paying more to have someone - like a skilled and experienced surgeon perform my surgery in a hospital' date=' keep me on an iv to administer fluids and meds to control my pain and antibiotics for 2 nights instead of taking me right to a hotel to recover with pills... I think I can make the generalization make more sense.[/quote'] Two people I personally know, had the surgery here in reputable hospitals, by experienced surgeons, have had repeated problems! Both had to return to the operating room several days after the initial surgery, due to complications. I went to a surgeon in Mexico, who probably has more experience with the sleeve than the US surgeon and have not had any issues. Lots of people here were still getting the lap band, at their surgeons suggestion, because the approval for the sleeve was still up in the air. The claim was, the research was not complete, and insurance was calling it experimental. They have been doing them in Mx for much longer. The fact i, though that each individual is different, any surgery comes with some risks, you just have to decide if you are willing to take the risk...I was, I couldn't afford the surgery here at home and my weight was slowly killing me anyway. My trip to TJ was a lifesaver for me...

  5. I was discharged with everything I needed. They included a description of what was done to me' date=' my blood work, EKG results, a video of my leak test, list of medications given and discharge and diet instruction.. This was all included in my 4,500 surgery cost. What more "records" does one need? I received follow up care from my GP. Couldn't be easier.[/quote'] Same here and I have had no problems. It was easy and economical, and I couldn't be happier!

  6. I'm always horrified by my pictures. I was very shapely and at a healthy weight as a young adult' date=' when our self-image is formed for the most part. I hate when I think I really look good because I did whatever today....and then someone takes a picture and what do you know! I'm FAT! How the heck did that happen I wonder?

But wouldn't you know it, when I was 120 lbs at 5'6, and measured 36-24-36? Oh then my thighs were sooo fat! That's what I thought then.

I'm hoping that now that I'm all grown up, I can get m weight and my self-image aligned in a realistic fashion.[/quote']. Isn't it odd that we can remember numbers like that? I'm 60 now, but can remember young adulthood when my measurements were a hip-swinging 34-23-36!! And ,back then, I wouldn't wear pants because I thought my thighs were too big! Yet, i wore a size 20 jeans on my way up, and convinced myself I looked good in them...go figure. Oh we'll, well have to see what I do on the way down after surgery, I'll keep y'all posted....
