    Leak Security!

How are you doing Andrew? I have been thinking about you!
  2. Usually i am "the hot one" and i do not mean looks -wise!! After my surgery 12/10/13, I have been FREEZING! I am typing this w/ gloves on! My surgeon said this was normal. Anyone else? Also, after many nights of going to bed w/ flannels, a hat and gloves, six blankets ( such a gorgeous site when you add in my C-Pap), my sister told me about something that has made me soooo happy! I am now the proud owner of a heated mattress pad! OMGAWD - what a difference! Run to the store now and get one if you too are cold!

    Constantly hungry

I had this problem as well before i stared this journey. I learned that I was totally lacking in protein! I was a carb addict, when i started to really look at what i was eating (decrease the carbs - increase the protein), the weight really started coming off and i was no longer constantly starving!

    Are you COLD?

I am telling you - HEATED Mattress pad! I thought upon my return from the hospital I would sleep wonderfully - NOT! Finally with this new heated thing - i am sleeping so much better!

    Is my FEAR founded?

    Thank you everyone!
  8. I was sleeved 12/10/13. I lost 43 pounds pre-op. I have been "eating" protein drinks, Greek yogurt, soups and puddings. I have only lost about 10 pounds post-op. (I did gain 11pounds in the hospital). Here is my fear...I am hardly eating. When I am able to eat more, how am I possibly going to continue to lose weight when i am barely eating now and the weigh loss has been slow? Does this make sense to anyone else?

    Help! Protein is killing me!

My nut said it was ok to add skim milk to the protein drinks. For every oz of milk = 1 G protein. This has helped me alot!

    My Gastric Sleeve Story

  12. Thinking of you every day!

    Premier protein

I was going to ask the same question - maybe drinking too fast? I am 8 days out and I add about 9 oz of skim milk (increases protein) and it takes me a good 4 hours!
  14. 5 days post -op here! Thought i would share my story as all of you have been sooo amazingly wonderful! Prior to surgery had to undergo lots of med tests, classes and lose 8% weight. My center was very strict but i was happy because in the long run it was only for the betterment of you! Morning of surgery, i had lost 44.5 pounds (16 lbs over required), i was pretty happy w/ that! Surgery took awhile longer as Dr had to remove quite a bit of scar tissue from an open gall bladder surgery 27 years ago. She also had to repair a hiatal hernia. After surgery i was actually surprised at how "out of it" I was. I do remember walking a few times and vividly remember this..." ChefColl, we need to give you insulin as your blood sugar is very high!" I have NEVER had high blood sugar and trying to prevent diabetes was one of the many reasons for this surgery! Apparently this is quite common!! Something to do w/ your pancreas not working for while or something like that. Then it went too low and i needed another shot. Sooo until the afternoon i left, they continued to monitor this every two hours. I had the roomie from hell who talked loudly on her cell all night long. Never slept a wink. The next morning when I went for my leak test, they said my surgeon wanted to be there. Did the test - it was fine - thank God! Told my soc about my roomie and she said i will NOT return to that room which i did not. Then i started on my ounce of Water every hour. Who the heck would think that drinking that tiny cup would take forever??? Holy moly! I also walked a ton that day and i know this really helped. The next day I started Clear liquids one ounce every 15 minutes. After they were sure this was OK i was sent home about 4 in the afternoon. Also i gained 11 pounds since surgery (was weighed upon release). Surprisingly, did not sleep well that night. Not in a lot of pain, just could not sleep. The next day, I admit to a few crying spells because i was worried about not getting in all of my liquids. THANKS to this site - I knew it would be hard. My Dr's goals are 48 - 64 oz of liquid and 60 grams of Protein. I am praying I reach those numbers!! Yesterday i did 42 oz of liquids and only 8 G of protein. I REALLY tried an Injury Chix broth but i thought i was gonna hurl! NOT GOOD! Today, I already increased my protein and I am still working on the rest. Overall, not much pain, lots of burping and gas, cannot wait to really chew something - ANYTHING! I am tired - oh and VERY cold!! Anyone else experience this? I know i am very lucky compared to others. My prayers are with Andrew right now. I cannot thank all of you enough for all of your tips, hints and advice. As a matter of fact, i passed this site onto a few pple i met on my floor who had surgery and also my surgeon! One more question, what was the name of the site for recipes? I am very worried about making it thru the next two weeks on just liquids. Best Wishes to all of you!!! AtlantaRed, tami j and cabstewart like this

    Need to eat!

Sleeved 12/10 - spoke w/ the NUT today. She said liquids #1 - protein #2. and do not worry - it will all come together! Sounds so simple - Grrrrrrr! lol
  16. Nicely written - THANKS for my first laugh of the day!
  17. My surgery was 12/10. I know i have been really lucky w/ being able to sip and no pain. By no means am i reaching my dr's goal of 48 - 64 oz of fluid/day and 60 g of Protein, but i feel like i am really trying. Cannot do any broth and feel super confused and stuck w/ what to eat/drink! I am also having a hard time sleeping - like 4- 5 hours max. I also have weird diarrhea - sorry! Anyone else? I am grateful that part of my body is moving but.... I feel very blah today, just cannot put my finger on it. Looking around my ugly unChristmasy house - so much i wanna do but just can't! THANKS for the start of this post - guess we should not complain as others are having so much trouble!!
  18. Stay strong - you worked way to hard for this!

  20. Sending you HUGE positive thoughts!
  21. I am a Sales Director with The Pampered Chef, for those that may not know about this, I bring our amazing products to your house and cook a meal or dessert. I carry 3 pretty heavy bags ( i know I cannot lift for a while), and stand for about 3 hours. I am having a very hard time trying to figure out when to start booking my shows back up. My surgery is Dec 10th and I know everyone is so different. I asked my surgeon and she could not give me a time frame as well. MY actual surgery will be a tad different from most because of a hernia and Crohn's. Soooooo If you have ever been to a Pampered Chef show and have had surgery already, can you shed some light on this for me? I would greatly appreciate this! THANK YOU!
