  1. I am scheduled for the 20th in MA. I dont have a pre op diet but was doing 2 Protein Drinks a day and 1 meal since being approved the end of August. Then we went out for dinner on my bday.......then we went away for the night last night - yuck!! I feel like crap from eating like crap! Tomorrow I back on the wagon!!! That gives me 9 days.........I am so ready! Can't wait! Loved the way I was feeling off the junk!

Good luck to everyone! Keep posting!!!

  2. I was sleeved Sept. 3 in Detroit' date=' MI by Dr. Arthur Carlin (amazing man and an even better surgeon). Had a rough few days at the hospital. Recovery / waking up took longer than normal because I was so nauseous so they had to get that under control before they took me to my room. I remember someone whistling in recovery and groggily snapping at them to be quiet lol, not proud of that but in my defense I was feeling pretty lousy. The first night was fine, hard to get comfortable in the hospital bed, and Wednesday morning was rough. They stopped my IV meds and began giving me tylenol 3 with codeine which I couldn't tolerate and vomited both times I took it. The gas pain on day 2 was AWFUL but everyone here says walking is the best remedy and they sure were right. Getting my fluids in was very difficult but now at 3 days post op I'm home and just finished my first Muscle Milk since the pre-op liquid diet! My incisions look great and I'm having little to no abdominal pain, only when I take an aggressive sip, then my pouch immediately lets me know to take it easy and take smaller drinks. I still have a LONG way to go, but am already seeing the progress my sleeve is making. I'm less nauseous and able to drink more often without feeling yucky! I can't even think about solid food but the puree stage is right around the corner and for that, I'm excited! Good luck everyone, sending healthy vibes to everyone out there![/quote']

Glad you're feeling better! Keep up the good work!

  3. Great! Keep up the good work! I was at the office today too! Funny huh? Small world. Are you taking Prilosec or pepcid? Ask them to call you in a rx for the liquid Prilosec. I'm not convinced crushing the tabs is acceptable. Called the company and they said no crushing, chewing or cutting. Ever. Will bring up at hospital. Because the release of the tab is compromised you may not be getting enough coverage later in the day. Good luck!

  4. I have noticed that I kinda get concerned when I see portion sizes. Like last night I went out for Japanese food with some friends and while I had two pieces of seared tuna and two pieces of teriyaki chicken' date=' everyone else was bombarded with food. Rice, Soup, noodles, etc. I didn't really say anything because well, they're all skinny and it's not my body, but I did see if and think wow, I totally would've been downing all that pre op for sure. Now though, I am more than happy with picking what I will enjoy the most and enjoy the hell out of it :) Plus, I find that it is less awkward if I keep my mouth shut. I have noticed that if I talk about portion size, the mood changes. I just want to enjoy my time and fit in with the group.[/quote']

I know!!! That's why I want to just observe and not speak! Lol. My mother was constantly LOUDLY complaining about smokers and it drove me craaaazzy!! Silence is golden! That's why I'm here writing!

  5. I went on a whale watch today with my family. While we were sitting in the section where food is served I found myself watching people stuffing popcorn and pretzels and pizza and hot dogs in their mouths. I was disgusted! Maybe it's just a weird day for me but I can remember when my mom quit smoking - she couldn't STAND smokers. I hope my view continues to be this way so I won't be tempted!! 16 days til surgery - I sat sipping my Protein Water and thought about that! :0)

  6. I can't believe how many people's advice is to do something different than the doctors says. If we were all experts we would no be where we are. Don't drink the caffeine and don't take the aspirin. Drink a lot of Water And wait it out. By day 3 the headache should be gone and if it not' date=' call you dr and ask what they want from you.[/quote']

I agree here! Don't screw it up so close to the finish!! Water. Water. Water. Take a nap. Take a bath. Tylenol around the clock. As far as aspirin not killing you - if you bleed too much during surgery it CAN kill you! Try calling tues for some tramadol. They don't make darvocet anymore. :0(. Good luck!

  7. I don't have to do a pre-op diet, but I have been having 1 or 2 Protein Shakes per day to prep on my own. I really like the Syntrax Nectar flavors. They have sample packs which is awesome. I do all the fruity ones with Water or crystal light and the "sweets" with skim milk. Protizyme also has a chocolate cake one that is to die for! I would try mixing with different things - water, milk, crystal light, Vitamin water. Something will click! Good luck!
