    COFFEE ANYONE?

I only drink Iced coffee and resumed 2 weeks ago. I didn't even want the coffee prior to the 4 week mark. Now I cant wait to have it, I had to give up soda so this is basically my only vice.

    Crushed meds

I tried crushing my meds, but couldn't stand the taste. I bought a pill cutter and just cut them up into a few pieces. No problems. I don't have to cut up the Nexium, I just take that whole.

    Just not feeling good!

Are you getting indigestion? Burping? You might need to add a protonic( such as nexium) to your routine. I did and I felt way better after taking one each morning. It took me a good month before I felt "hungry" at all. I could go all day without eating anything. Before surgery, I would wake up starving. Not anymore.

    Peanut butter ok?

I had PB at around 3 weeks post op. A thin smear on a graham cracker. Went down fine.
  5. Grits. I could only eat 1/4 of a serving.
  6. 4 weeks today and I've lost 22lbs. 33 since my pre-op liquid. I had a few complications, went back to the hospital 6 days after surgery( for 3 days) so no exercise. I think slow and steady wins the race. Today is the FIRST day I really feel anything close to "hunger". Some days I forced myself to eat, just wasn't hungry at all.

    November buddies where are you?

I was sleeved on Nov 19th and I've lost 33lbs including 11lbs pre-op. I haven't hit a stall yet, I seem to be losing between .5 and 1lb a day. I am not just starting to feel hungry. I've been forcing myself to eat these last few weeks and I actually haven't been eating very much so maybe that's why I've lost a lot. Breakfast this morning was 1 egg and 1 jimmy dean turkey sausage link. Previously, wasn't able to eat all of that, today I finished it and felt full.

    Anybody Else Cheating?

Yes, I measure out 1tbls uncooked and cook that with 1/4c. of Water. That is actually 1/3 of the full serving size. Lol I think she meant that's how she measured them, not ate them like that hopefully.

    Anybody Else Cheating?

Mine was on Nov 19th. I had nothing by mouth day of surgery, not even an ice chip. I didn't want it. The next day I was dying of thirst and that's all I wanted. Even now, I don't want that much. I'm just not hungry, I force myself to eat. I'm on pureed/mushy. I can eat 1 tbls of uncooked grits( 1/3 of a serving), half a scrambled egg and Im full. Today I had a 3/4 of a kids Soup at Panera and I was full. I had 3 shrimp the other night and those made me burp. I'm now staying away from food that makes me feel like crap. There is a protocol for a reason, your stomach needs to heal. Its so hard for me to believe that I am truly not hungry, but I know it will come back one day soon.

    Tears of Frustration....

This is what happened to me. Had surgery on Nov 19th. 6 days later, went to a walk in clinic because of shoulder pain. They sent me for a CT scan and did blood work. Blood work came back positive for clots, CT scan came back positive for Fluid on lungs. Told me to get to ER. While at ER, had an abnormal EKG and elevated tryponen levels. They told me I had a heart attack. No clot, but they ended up doing an angio and found a 70% blockage( btw, I passed the stress test). They were so close to putting in a stent, but my surgeon said NO way. I cant be on Plavix yet, it would be torture on my stomach. So, now its a waiting game. I wait 6-8 weeks to see if I can have the stent. Had another EKG today, still abnormal. This has been an ordeal. I don't mean to be a Debbie downer..but cardiac caths do save lives...my boyfriend had one and it detected major blockage..they did a stent and hee is with me because of it..Now from the perspective of your weight loss journey..finding out about heart disease beforehand is a good thing. You would not want to undergo this major surgery, lose all of the weight you want to lose.....just to wake up one day and have a full blown heart attack. ( heart disease is not synonymous to being heavy) NOW , Im not saying don't get a second opinion..just don't let your desire to have this surgery ( which is just one part of your desire to regain your health) over take the need to make sure your health is at it's optimal best leading into it. I wish you the best of success with ALL things related to your goal to lose weight & become your healthy best self... Do a whoo-sahhh and take a deep breath and tackle this and then you will be on your way to getting sleeved.
  12. That's exactly how I feel. Burping and feeling like food is stuck. I HATE IT.
  13. I'm starting week 3 and can eat half an egg and 1tbls of uncooked grits( I''m full after that). I'm also eating chicken and tuna salad and cottage cheese. Soups too. I have chewed on the occasional cracker with no ill effects.
  14. 7 days after my surgery I had a small heart attack( never should have had surgery, had an abnormal ekg, but surgeon ignored). I now need a stent, but cant have one because I cant be on blood thinners this soon. Need to wait 6-8 weeks. Still worried about going on blood thinners so soon after the surgery.

    What Damage Have I Done?

Had surgery on the 19th, came home 3 days later( Thurs). I was hospitalized on Monday for complications( Fluid on lungs). I went to my local hospital, not the hospital where I had the surgery. They had no Protein shakes, other than ensure( 9g of protein). I didn't want to waste calories getting so little Protein. They knew I was on a full liquid diet and would bring me oatmeal or cream of wheat in the morning. To me, it was better than nothing. It actually made me feel better to have a bit of carbs. No biggie, its not like she sat down to a full turkey dinner.

    Complications

I too had some complications. Had my surgery on Nov 19th. Stayed at hosp. for 3 days, came home. Felt like crap all weekend. It was freezing outside so barely left the house. On Monday, I decide to go to the local walk-in doctors office and get checked out. My surgeon is 30 miles away. They do blood work and a chest xray. I was having really intense shoulder pain. So, dr. comes in and says I have Fluid in my chest and need to go get CT scan. Run over there, go home and get a call 30 min later that my D-dimer came back positive and that I have fluid. No mention of CT scan. They tell me to go check into ER. I do that and they run an EKG too. That was abnormal. They tell me I had a mild heart attack. I was like WTF? I had no chest pain or anything. I end up having to get another CT scan because they ordered the wrong one( supposed to have angio, dr's office ordered contrast). Have to wait 24hrs for that because of the strain on my kidney from the dye. I end up having an ultra sound of my lungs and they decide there isn't enough fluid to remove. Meanwhile, my surgeon tells me that the fluid built up because I wasn't exercising enough. I was so close to being released on Wednesday morning when my dr. ordered a cardio consult. It was decided I needed an angiogram. Had that, couldn't get a stent because Surgeon said that I couldn't be on blood thinners so soon. OMG. What the hell was happeneing. Felt like I was in a bad dream. Got out of hospital at 9am. My discharge instructions are no heavy exercise, and must take a daily asprin. Oh and I was supposed to be on full liquids, but hospital had no Protein shakes so I ended up eating some oatmeal and cream of wheat. I got constant bags of fluid. Have no idea what I've lost. Now I worry about my heart. Found out my EKG wasn't normal before surgery, surgeon probably shouldn't have done surgery, but maybe wouldn't have found out about this had I not had surgery.

    crushed medication postop

I am having a terrible time taking the pills crushed. I take a few different medications, but the one that I MUST take is metformin. I crushed it, mixed it with light yogurt and started to puke. I don't know how to get thru this. I can take a nexium whole, that doesn't need to be crushed.

I found some Simply Balanced Water at Target. Its flavored, but has no artificial sweeteners except stevia( which I don't think its artificial). They taste really good and I like drinking them.

yes, im extremely weak and tired. I haven't been doing any walking, other than back and forth from the kitchen to the bedroom. It makes me burp. After I take 1 sip of Water, I have to burp. I wonder if I am drinking too much too fast.

    Liquids Post Op 5 Days

I had surgery on 11/19. The day of surgery I wasn't allowed anything by mouth. I was so thirsty, but all I could do was swab my mouth. The next day in the hospital, I was given 1oz cups and told to drink at least 16oz of Water in 4 hours. The next day I was given cranberry and apple juice, Protein broth( gag, so salty) and tea( gag). I cut the cranberry with water and kept that down. I came home on Thursday and had a very bad day. Very nauseous, stomach doing ping pongy things inside. Feels like hunger pangs, but I AM NOT HUNGRY. I asked the dr.'s office for nausea meds and that helped. Today I've drank 24 oz of water and an 8oz Protein shake. I don't want anything, forcing myself to drink so I don't get dehydrated. My blood sugar was very high even though I haven't eaten. Dr. Said it was because of pain meds. The surgeon told me to remove my pump an stop metformin. I called my endocrinologist and he said put the pump back on and take the metformin. I do feel a bit better since doing that. I cant even imagine ever wanting to eat again.
