How much can you eat?
Justinh125 replied to barbmeow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly it depends on the specific food. For some reason, some foods seem to "stick" more than others... What you're describing sounds pretty normal. Remember that doctors use different size boughies to "size" your sleeve. The way my surgeon explained it in my 6-week follow up last Monday, there's no wrong or right size...some prefer smaller while others go larger. -

EXTREAMLY ANXIOUS!

If it makes you feel better, I think most of us felt some apprehension going into it. To be a little nervous is natural I think. So you're probably just feeling a lot of what the rest of us felt before our surgeries. Remember that with modern surgical procedures, complications are rare and outcomes are usually extremely positive. I have no doubt that there are outstanding surgeons in NY who will take good care of you. -

I'll do 10 Hail Marys and promise to never publicly discuss the topic again.

Masturbation can lead to hot sex as well. It's not just a "last resort" for people who aren't able to be with a partner....that's an antiquated idea....can be fun for all involved and lead to fun for all involved

They had me a surprised intervention.

What you're doing seems pretty normal and not something that should cause the problems you're describing. Maybe another doc's visit would be good....maybe they need to do another barium swallow or something? -

Is it the location of the larger incision? That one is tough....if someone pushes on it it hurts me still -

For me, even if I do all that perfectly I still occasionally get sick....I try to measure it just right, but sometimes I overshoot it. -
But sex toys are fun too....even people with amazing sex lives need a little self-lovin'

Just shake it off. People have silly attitudes. Some of them might be jealous that you don't have to be obsessive about certain foods anymore.... I'd suggest you not let them throw you off your healthy eating plan....someone's lousy attitude shouldn't bring you down! Remember that you're worth it, and you're better than that. -
low bmi loss.... 10 weeks out.

I started at less than 40 and have lost around 3lbs/week. -
I imagine some people won't get it. They won't understand why you did what you did. Many of my friends don't understand it at all. But they DO understand that I'm smaller than I've been in years, and they like that. To be completely honest, if I over-do it and get sick after lunch, I just secretly sneak off and get sick and come back because I don't want to deal with the crap I'd get from my co-workers.

If this helps, when people ask me that silly "why don't you just follow the post-surgical diet now" question, I tell them I couldn't, which is the truth. To be fair, I could, at times, restrict my eating and get lots of exercise and all the other things our doctors want us to do. And in the short term, those things would help me slim down a bit. Diet and exercise do in fact work, no doubt about it. But what always happened for me, is that I would be extremely hungry the whole time I was on a program like that. I would think about food all the time. I would dream about eating at a buffet. So for me, that situation was not realistic as a long-term solution. I can't imagine living the rest of my life feeling like I am deprived of food. This surgery has helped me resolve that problem. If someone doesn't like it, too bad. I can finally enjoy food like normal people and not have to feel hungry all the time.

Glad you are having success, even if you've had to struggle through some early complications. The pictures look great!!! Here's to your continued success and no more complications

How large were the incisions? The largest is usually around 15mm, and the others are usually smaller. Or did they have to do yours as an open surgery? I agree that even if it feels horrible right now, it will get better as your body continues to heal. I was in a ton of pain during the first week, but over time the pain went away. It might not feel like it but your pain will dissipate. Plus, it might be a bit early to be thinking about "outcomes" when your surgery was Monday and it's not even Friday yet. Outcome is more of a long-term thing....in time you might appreciate the outcome more.

Guess I'll go get a stick of butter instead of the bottle of Jack Daniels I was planning on downing.

Do you really believe some people can violate the 1st law of thermodynamics? "Traditional calorie math" works on CARS!!! If you measure gasoline in calories and then put a car on a scale with a treadmill-type device, it will gain weight if you add fuel (calories) faster than it is burning them. And it will always lose weight if it burns fuel faster than you add fuel. Energy cannot be destroyed, only changed from one form to another. A calorie is the amount of energy necessary to increase 1 cubic centimeter 1 degree Celsius.
