  1. Just had mine on Thursday 9/26...didn't feel a thing in/out in abt a hour. You'll do fine! Best of luck
  2. Wow...my best friend is starting to say things that leads me to believe maybe I shouldn't have told her about my plans. I have only told her, my adult daughter and my boyfriend. (Decided not to tell my mom the exact details as to not worry her,so I said I am having hernia repair instead-- hated to not be 100% truthful with my momma, but I know our relationship). My 23 yo daughter has been so supportive, my boyfriend who is also a plus size guy is supportive, but has on occasion made comments to shoe his hesitantancy because I think he may fear what this decision will do to us...but he has NOTHING to worry about on my end. And if it does change our relationship,hr is a boyfriend and I would chock it up to him not being the man for me... So that leaves my BFF (who is not heavy) ..initially she seemed excited for me, but of late she says in a negative tone "aren't you being deceptive if your not going to tell others how you are going to tackle your weight issues"? And I am a little down about her lack of whole hearted support...in the end I k ow it's my decision for me,but it just hurts that even before I have had the surgery ppl are already showing thier inability to support. Sorry to be long winded on this issue, but my feelings are hurt :-(
  3. That's still awesome...5lbsis off to a great start!!!
  4. Someone said "Emotional First Aid Kit" was good for assistaning with head hunger, just wondering if there are any other suggestions. Thanks in advance!
  5. Wishing you the best on hour upcoming journey...A new you is right around the corner! Please keep us posted
  6. You look great...keepup the good work
  7. Thanks ladies... btw. AmandaRae...I love your quote "If You Propose To Speak, Always Ask Yourself, Is It True, Is It Necessary, Is It Kind.”
  8. Just knowing myself..the only way I willbeable to tolerate the postop month on full liquids is if I can have it mixed with some crushed ice...could anyone tolerate cold shakes on thier sleeve that 1st 30-60 days? The thought of room temp makes me gag just thinking of it. Uuugggghhhh
  9. Yep..I got all of these symptoms...but did not need the sleep study because although I am only 215 lbs @ 5'3" w/ BMI of 38.1 I have insulin dependant type II diabetes & highblood pressure so my insurance approved me in 48 hours after submission. but I may get the sleep study just in as a precaution, eventually prior to getting sleeved
  10. My Bariatric surgeon requires 2- liquid protein meal replacements and 1- regular, low fat, high protein, low carb meal a day x 14 days....I could NOT live (nor think that's rational) to live on ALL liquids for 14 days prior to being sleeved. Maybe you van ask about one low fat/ high protein meal per day.
  11. I know I can't be the only person who has gone in to a fitting room with a dress that should have fit...only to try it on and get stuck trying to get it off. Then break out into a sweaty panic praying to God you don't rip it down the middle or actually having to yell to the attendant to come help you out of it? Well I am so excited knowing after I get sleeved later this year that scenario will be a permanent part of my past!!!
  12. OMG..I am actually sitting on the side of my bed in tears right now...so excited to see this thread. I had wanted to know if ethnicity created different issues especially as it relates to hair loss. I AM so appreciative of this thread. Not that we are all not created the same, but just to hear the journey from a personal perspective from a AA is so awesome to know that this site offers. I AM sure after I read through the 200+ pages I will have some specific questions for many..I will send personal messages if that's ok.. (SO EXCITED)
  13. I'm pre op getting down to my final days before scheduling my surgery trying to compose a final list of questions for my surgeon before setting a date...and I was watching a YouTube video and the lady was having serious nerve issues where her extremities were always cold to the point where damage was setting in...she also was having some vitamin deficiency where she was losing her vision...woe that scares the @% out of me.
  14. I'm preop so as a final procedure I had a EGD done today and the MD found out I have erosion in lower esophagus from GERD...now I have known something was going on for some time, but have never taken any meds for it. Now I am afraid when I go to my final appt on 10/15/13 to schedule surgery, he may decline it due to this one factor..btw...my insurance company already approved the surgery. I may just be freaking out, but would love to hear from some veterans on this issue...and find out if the GERD got worse after sleeve and how they've coped.
  15. I'm gonna repost this in the post up section also..in hopes that it will get more responses...
