In Sleep Study Hell!
kvdme replied to makinithappen2013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im out on those sleep tests. I had the same at home study, my regular doc didn't have the report (he ordered it) they sent it to my cardiologist...Its all blah blah blah to me. Heck I go through bouts where I do snore and then nothing for weeks. I did, however find out I need to work on my breathing in the hospital, didn't have good oxygen saturation. I have afib and thats a contributor factor to that. My sleep study said I had moderate apnea. Im wasn't concerned then, not now either Neither was any of the 4 doctors I have seen about it, they all suggested weight loss as the solution so know your on the right track. I know its the weight I put on and I know it will clear up without the weight. -
First week I was a mess, fevered, stomach hurt hand to hold it, depressed, buyers remorse etc etc etc.... I hated what I had done, hated I couldn't comfort myself with food. Well, that is all passed. I bought a binder and it helped enough with the pain that its almost gone. I feel 100% better 12 days out. Eating soft foods, feeling almost 100% normal. Go back to work Monday thank goodness, kinda grazing with eating out of being bored. I have a few habits to break and getting out of the house will help big time! Get feeling better and as the more experienced sleevers will tell you, its gets sooo much better

Im 12 days out and same thing. I think you feel like you can eat more because its soft food moving through you pretty fast. I can eat 2 soft boil eggs but can't barely eat one hard boiled yoke. Regular food I have tried, its a few bites thats it but can eat whole can of tomato Soup. Sleeves at any size aren't that big and my doctor said stretching the sleeve is a myth to some degree. Eat slowly, chew well. (note to self lol)

I had the same thing. Day 5 POOF was gone.

They removed my staples day after surgery before I went home for that reason. Body doesn't seem to like them sounds like. -
I really haven't had a hard time getting anything down. The Doc I go to is one of the older experienced surgeons and I think they just go with tried and true. I asked about protien powders and protein drink and his comment was.. its liquid calories and wants me to get protein from food, not drink. Thats about all. I do just fine right now with what Im eating. I actually feel normal which makes me happy. 6 months from now we can compare notes on how it went.

milk of magnesia helps -
My doc and nut in Utah are against liquid calories, reason why they don't have us on protien drinks. Also was told coffee, milk and juices were no nos but I do know these diets are very similar to ones they have with bleeding ulcers and you hear of leaks months after the surgery. I for one would rather give up those than have a leak! High acid foods are out. I would say the Soups are because they move through your stomach fast and leaving you feeling less full but all in all, creamed soups are loaded with calories. Chili not sure why unless its the hot chili because my doc promotes Beans big time. Giving up certian foods for now in order to loose the weight is just something we need to do or risk failure and no one wants that. And I have to remember, this is a life style change. I always go with my body, my decision as to what I eat. I can't go back to eating what I was, no way no how. In time like with any habit, you have to change the way you think and that takes time. With this, you have to eat but we just have learn to eat to survive, not survive to eat. Ive seen 3 nuts, One's delivery was pretty blunt and I wans't a big fan of hers but they all had the same message. 70% protien, 30% veggies .... thats about it for me. WIll I eat some things I shouldn't? YES, at times it will happen, will I do it often, no. As I am typing this, my bf is drinking creamed sugared coffee and a frozen bagel sandwhich.... I just have to drink my Water and listen to his heart protesting lol

Ive slept in my recliner because laying out flat in my bed kills me. I am 11 days post op. I finally bought a binder and that helps with it all big time

october 7th and horrible pain
kvdme replied to sassymommy2three's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ive gone to wearing a binder. The stiches inside pull when I lay one side or the other or even standing. The binder helped ALOT. I feel pretty good after 10 days except for the occasional twing of pain. -

Surgery at 4pm, out by 6pm next day. Only thing I wish is didn't have to go in somewhere to get pain meds filed. That was hell. -
Good luck on your journey you will be just fine!! and remember any pains, gas, emotions, and fears will all pass within a few days to a week or so. Just relax and heal up and be on your way to health life!!

Anyone have any info about this? I know my doctor does a larger sleeve but stated some doctors are dling a European sleeve which is pretty small. Would like any info on this as far as problems, nausea, ability to get food in easily and of course more leaks. Thanks!
