  1. If your stomach leaks when you go home you would have to get medical care there, but you have a leak test there before you go home. I was scared about my tummy popping-I daydreamed that it popped! I just sipped small amounts at a time and checked my temperature repeatedly. The other thing is that you have a drain for 3 days. If any stomach bile/acid were leaking into the abdomen not only would you be extremely uncomfortable from the acid on your organs, but the drainage would be discolored. I loved the drain and was sad for it to come out. It eased my mind. They don't do endoscopy preop. I had a 2-3 hour car ride home for which I left a pillow in my car. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  2. So funny you mentioned these things were on the top of my list I worried about. I specifically asked my boy if I smell and he said no. We've been together a long time and have no issues telling each other what it is. I never had any smelly urine or smelly breath- none of what I read on here. I've had people with me regularly and haven't seen anyone give me a side eye (I've been watching). I never pooped anywhere either! You get up quickly after surgery and will be able to go to the bathroom when you start walking. Some of the people who did that were told to take laxatives the day/night before. Don't do that! I will confess I gave myself an enema that morning but I'm aware of how these affect me and wouldn't have done it otherwise. I would've been fine without it. You don't receive any meds that have anything to do with your bowels. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}

  5. It depends on what type of device your on. You may see a + sign or "advanced" option on your screen or some type of button at the top or bottom when you go to write a comment. If you're talking about your main picture you may just have to tap/click on the empty box (again it depends on your device) and add then. Just click on the random buttons you see and I'm sure you'll find it {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}

  7. I'm 5'9" and I had set my 1st personal goal at 220lbs and my second at 170, but am flexible. The nutritionist set my weight for 177 lbs but measured me at 5'8" for some reason but I know that's wrong. I plan on seeing how I feel as I get to each weight. I have yo-yoed through the years and blew UP once I started nursing school and never went back. I've seen myself at a lot of weights and hope I don't go into/below 160s. For my frame it's a bit thin and my hip bones start sticking out and people started questioning what was up (people don't know if they want you fat or thin). Everyones version of thin is relative and my boy also doesn't care for it. I guess I'll see what happens {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}

  12. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Party in Hoosierville!! Congratulations and I know you are so happy today. You are truly an inspiration to many of the people on this site. I so need to get on the treadmill!! You should totally buy a couple lotto tickets. So proud of you {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  13. She is right though- some people make some dumb ass comments and silly statements/questions on here- I choose to scroll past those threads though. Everyone doesn't have the same level of intellect and it's each of our choices to hit the button to respond- you don't have to. At the same time the thread title was a bit punchy, but I still think everyone needs to relax a bit- and realize too you're dealing with people who can't eat for comfort anymore! A bit touchy to say the least. I know I am at times. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}

  15. Cindy, don't stop posting when you want to. Just be aware that some people may receive what you say different then what you actually intend. I choose to just follow my doctors orders. I started coming on here for support and info preop since I was going to Mexico and come now to support others going there and for entertainment purposes since I'm home for 4 weeks and don't feel like cleaning my closet. Do what you want girl!! {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  16. Wow that's interesting. The thing is the incisions are so small I don't get the big deal unless you're trying to hide the fact you had a procedure done from someone close to you. My incisions look really good and I'm only 3 weeks out and haven't even started treating them yet. Everyone I show them to is super surprised by them. I think they thought they would be bigger. On some peoples after pics you can't even see them. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  17. The protein shakes absolutely started making me nauseous! I was even taking nausea meds at that point twice daily. For me it didn't get better until I changed it up a bit. The way I was making my shakes is make milk ice cubes because I can't drink it just milky the way it is. I have a Ninja blender that has that personal cup and I ninja my shake to death with 4 cubes of "ice" and some reg Nonfat milk along with 2 Enspira vitamins. I then put it in a blender bottle because with the vitamin in it, the vitamin starts to settle to the bottom since it takes a while to drink. It started making me nauseous and I was struggling, then I saw a commercial for Silk light almond milk. It changed up the taste enough to make it better. I make that into ice cubes now. It may be worth a try! Fridge pic!! Why was I too lazy to take it out! I also bought Walden Farms no calorie chocolate syrup but that didn't help when I tried but I did add it to a chocolate flavored shake. I will revisit it with the vanilla shake. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  18. If you already feel that way, you should eat as much crunchy romaine as possible because that feeling will be worse after surgery. Last week after about 2 weeks of fluids, all I wanted was to chew something. It will be a long time before you'll be able to chew anything postop. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  19. If everything is good with childcare, I would look into a car service or taxi and take my bag with me. The hospital will figure it out. Don't let anyone or anything that's an easy fix upset you so much. Yes she should be assisting you when she said she would, but what's most important is YOU getting there! One thing I've learned is that I can only truly count on myself and to have a plan B. Childcare would be the only thing I would truly worry about. If you have to go with the clothes on your back!! {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  20. I was waiting for one of you guys to make me laugh!! Too much {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  21. Ok so I watched this video and read the notes- they still did abdominal incisions!!! I don't get how there could be a lesser chance of complications when you're involving another body system (the reproductive system) on a surgery like this. They're adding a risk of infection in that system as well! Crazy to say the least! {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  22. Hopefully the link goes through {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  23. If they are able to get your excised stomach into your reproductive system and pull it through your vagina, that would be a whole different type of surgery!! I would like to meet the surgeon doing that procedure!!! P.S. If you think about it, in order for them to be able to pull the excised stomach up through the esophagus they would have to leave your sleeved stomach open, which we know they don't do- they close with a staple gun-like instrument as they go, so that isn't even possible. Does anyone know of any surgeons that do open procedures? {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  24. MOTM, There's no way eating leafy greens is cheating. Do a few days of just shakes. You'll want something crunchy after a while anyway
