  1. No I didn't call the clinic. I figured if I have any issues I should just go to the ED here. The only thing the clinic could do is call in a prescription for nausea meds and I'm not sure if they do that. Last night after I posted I tried to eat some chicken salad. All I did was put the food in my mouth and started dry heaving repeatedly since I hadn't eaten. I didn't even get to chew! Not sure what's up with me. And you're right Raven, I don't want to give the little ones anything. I wanted to stay home today but we are so absolutely short handed with staff I would have let the unit in a lurch today if I did. Today the itching is better but i need to eat but I'm so scared! I hate vomiting
  2. Hey guys! Just wanted to update you on what's up with me since it's so weird. I started itching on Tuesday night- all over (no rash, no new food, I've done nothing different). It wasn't so bad yesterday, but today- Oh my word. I had to use my break to go get Benadryl cream/spray and spent the rest of my shift spraying and slathering myself. I'm scared something is up because I'm so nauseated and I also started having looser stool when the whole time I've been constipated. I took regular Benadryl and started an IV because I know I haven't had enough fluids- or food for that matter. If I don't feel better in the morning, I'll go to the ED tomorrow I'm typing and scratching
  3. New Years Challenge Goal- 257lbs SW 11/27-272lbs 12/4-266lbs down 6lbs
  4. Absolutely. I still don't have an appetite and I get to where I'm telling myself you need to eat but you need to drink too! I haven't gotten the hang of eating 5 times a day. I'm just not hungry
  5. Good luck tomorrow healthbound! Everything will be wonderful
  6. Sassy that happens. You may go up and down and not see the scale move for awhile. Are you working out daily?
  7. I know. It will be a long road for us, but a road well worth it! When you see the changes and others see them too, you will definitely be happy.
  8. It was Mouse! What's great is it was literally only a spoon of it and not a big mound of mac and I was satisfied
  9. Thanks b2b, I've stopped taking pain meds all together and I'm just going to tough it out. My mouth is tender but the worst part is my stomach, it must be mad at me because I was doing a lot better with drinking. Now entering puréed stage I can't stomach much of anything, my sleeve fights me on the smallest amounts of anything, gurgling angrily. I'm getting progressively weaker and tomorrow is supposed to be my first day back at work. Mercy me why did I do this to myself!! It's true Mouse, the sleeve is an angry, gurgly little thing. I notice this when I first start eating or drinking and especially if I wait too long to put something in there. It seems like it's better the more often you eat/drink.
  10. Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone! I had such a great day. I saw my cousin who I hadn't seen in many years (he happened to be in the area) and I went to my boyfriends moms house as well. Her home at Thanksgiving is a gluttons paradise- literally 40-50+ family members, extended family and friends with buffet style catering dishes with TONS of food. Desserts galore and the liquor flowing. Two men commented on how small my plate was- I told one who's known me for a long time about my surgery. I had even put more on my plate that I knew I wasn't going to eat! I ended up eating turkey with gravy, mac n cheese, dressing, and green beans and drank water. Once my boyfriend settled into a game of Madden (?) with his BFF (men), I took the opportunity to go see a friend from that I recently reconnected with who also was nearby (my cousin and an old friend- what luck!). I would never have gone to see her or my cousin at my heaviest. She and I were obsessed with our weight and the gym in college and I would not want her to see me that way and my cousin is SUPER FIT. I was so happy to see her because she's so much fun, and we've also made plans for a Caribbean cruise April 2015! So excited! I'm going to do every excursion/adventure I can and people will probably wonder what kind of drugs I'm on for the whole 12 days I'm going to be running around that ship so much 8) A few people at my boyfriends moms said I looked good and it made me happy but also kind of sad knowing how much I had let myself go. I'm not going to dwell on the past though, and I know no matter what I will never let myself go there EVER AGAIN. I had a great holiday, didn't have alcohol, and even LOST a pound when I weighed myself today! She wins!!!
  11. Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone! I had such a great day. I saw my cousin who I hadn't seen in forever and was so happy to not be shamefully huge. I would never have gone to see him 61lbs ago because he and his wife are so thin and fit. I went to my boyfriends moms house and had a good time as well. Her home at Thanksgiving is a gluttons paradise- literally 40-50+ family members, extended family and friends with buffet style catering dishes with TONS of food. Desserts galore and the liquor flows well into the night- it's an absolute feeding frenzy! Two men commented on how small my plate was- I told one who's known me for a long time about my surgery. I had even put more on my plate that I knew I wasn't going to eat! Once my boyfriend settled in to a game of Madden with his best friend from high school (these are 42 yr old military men mind you), I took the opportunity to go see a friend from college that I recently reconnected with. Again, I would never have gone to see her either. She and I were obsessed with our weight and the gym in college and I would not want her to see me that way. Even now it's still not as comfortable. I was so happy to see her and when I move she'll be my gym buddy like old times. We've also made plans for a Caribbean cruise in April 2015! So many people said how good I looked and it made me happy but also kind of sad knowing how much I had let myself go. I'm not going to dwell on the past though, but I know no matter what I will never let myself go there EVER AGAIN. I had a great holiday, didn't have alcohol even though I thought I would try some, and lost another pound! Who can ever say they LOST a pound the day after Thanksgiving? She wins!!!
  12. Liquid extra strength Advil. It's keeping the pain at bay, but I feel so weak and useless! And he pulled more teeth than I signed up for. The roots were so long in the healthy top wisdom teeth that it opened up a gap between my mouth and sinuses. That's probably the worse part. Plus I was having trouble keeping hydrated enough in the first place with me surgery, now its even harder *facepalm* Mouse be careful with the Motrin. They didn't want us taking it preop and I don't think postop. I would switch to the liquid Tylenol as soon as you can. Hope you're feeling better.
  13. Final weight 272- 3lbs off my goal. Still a good showing! Thank you for this challenge. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!
  14. You have to tell us what reactions you get. Going back to work smaller was a mixed bag for me- some people looked at me you could see them trying to figure out what was different. Most of the people who knew were okay, but some were intrusive and I could see them looking me up and down every time I would come around which for me was uncomfortable. Someone from another unit in the hospital heard I had gotten a tummy tuck (don't know how that rumor got started), came to my unit to find me, and actually touched my stomach and said how good it looked!! WTH?!? I know you're a guy so you probably won't have as many issues as the women do.
  15. Congrats Derby!! Hope you and you group are doing well MOTM- I couldn't imagine doing both!! What are you taking for pain for your mouth?
  16. First off, I'm so glad your hubby is completely on board- he's the person that's in the house with you and will be the person you really need on your side. As far as the other people in your life, they can have a seat. Your adult choices-especially ones you're making to benefit your health- are none of their business, especially your boss! How does she know what's right for you? Has she been a friend your whole life and is she there through all your weight struggles? On top of that- this sleeve is NOT easy. It's easier to do weight watchers and have a day where you "cheat" then get back on the wagon. But what would happen-your weight would continue to fluctuate up and down and you would be in the same position or worse this time next year. Right now if I didn't have my sleeve and I was doing some other program, I GUARANTEE I would've cheated and had something I wasn't supposed to. Having the sleeve and knowing something may possibly make me sick is deterrent enough for me- that was part of my personal reasons for getting the sleeve in addition to weight loss and having something in place to help me keep off/ control weight gain long term. The people who are saying these things to you should do some research on the sleeve before they chime in on what you should/shouldn't be doing. I would be willing to bet if you countered their opinion by asking them what they know about the surgery they couldn't even tell you what it is. And for sure the weight doesn't just fall off- you still have to work out to see good progress. Your supposed to exercise 60-90 minutes daily with this in addition to trying to drink all your water, all your protein, and take all the vitamins. Some people get the surgery and lose a small amount of weight and then nothing else (now that we're all together, I came upon a sleeve to bypass revision thread). Easy- I definitely don't think so.
  17. First congrats on your promotion! I'm assuming your training will be 8 hour days, but I don't know if it's typical training where you're sitting all day. You do get tired some days in the beginning but everyone is different. Also know that when you drink/eat, you're what I call "noisy"- airy and burpy. I still pat myself on my chest when I drink/eat sometimes and apologize to people around me for my "noise". People don't seem to hear it as much as I think they do though. I think it's really hard to focus when you have to sit through those all day training sessions under normal circumstances. You could always buy one of those recorders we used in college so you can review it later on your own time. During that time you will be on full liquids.
  18. Derby I'm sorry I misunderstood your question the first time. I had shakes and clears the whole day preop but the only reason I didn't eat a salad was because I was traveling and didn't bring my dressing. then at 11pm I downed a large bottle of water. Your stomach will definitely be empty by the time you get to surgery the next day.
  19. Thanks mouse, but I mean before hand. We thought there was 2 days before hand it was clear liquids, but then we are told no. So I am just wondering.Derby it also depends on your BMI. I had a longer preop diet that then went into the 15 day shakes and leafy greens. When you contact the nutritionist, she will tell you what you need to do for your BMI.
  20. HoooserGirl is great. I still find myself going back and reading her older posts again because she's such a great writer and super funny. Kudos, HG!!
  21. Yay!!!! Im so happy for you!! I don't just like it, I love it!!!
  22. Yay!! Juneau's here!! You are doing so well. I saw on another thread. I need to get my act together!
  23. It's true!! If you're preop, eat as many crunchy leafy greens as possible. You will miss chewing for a while
