    October Sleevers - Who else

    My surgeon says 3 but I'm going to ask for 4 minimum. I work at one of those hospitals where we do everything, and I barely get a chance to pee or get a glass of Water some days. I don't want to get sick going back too soon. I'm going to try to weasel another month out of them if I can {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}

    That's my regret too. Had I known I could do this on my own, I would've done it at least 3-4 years ago. You people in your 20s to early 30s, don't doubt this decision for a second! Move forward and make this decision for you so you don't regret losing time later. Time is the most beneficial asset we lose sight of until its right in front of our face, and I plan on making the most of it- as long as everything goes well with my surgery and I hope and pray it will {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}

    I can't speak for everyone, but personally I went for a consultation for a lap band in early August here in California, found out that my insurance covers WLS but I would have to do a nutritional program for 6months with no guarantee i would get approved, did further research, decided the sleeve was a better fit for me, don't want to wait, and am paying out of pocket and going to Mexico. Doing this there mainly because of the reputation of the surgeon. I have no clue how many sleeves the surgeon here has done. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}

    Obnurse, I'm assuming we have the same profession. How long are you taking off work? {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}

    I haven't had my surgery yet. I'm on Oct 7th (OMG 30 days) but I'm assuming I will. Once I lose though I will definitely be getting plastics. That gives me a few years to lose then I'll get it for my 40th birthday present to myself {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}

    Your'e right. No one should be taking laxatives without the advice of their surgeon (although we see where that got LI Gemini NY-sorry ). Enemas are fast acting working within minutes and don't continue to make you go once you're done versus Mag Citrate which takes longer to kick in and once it does kick in (hours later) continues to make you go- and go and go and go if you get what I mean If you don't know your body, its not a good idea to randomly take laxatives without speaking to a medical professional. If I weren't a nurse, didn't know what all my labwork looks like and the meaning of all the values, I wouldn't do it myself. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  7. Glad you're ok, chickadee. All the swelling is from the fluids I'm sure you got intra and postop. You'll probably start peeing like crazy over the next few days and be a skinny mini! You don't even look that overweight to begin with but I guess that's relative. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  8. That's a good question. How did you end up in SD? {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  9. Statement 1. I agree. I believe the only issue with losing fast or slow is the problem most of us have- maintenance. Once we lose it, its hard to keep up the "diet" habits we all use to lose the weight to keep it off for the long haul. Statement 2. I believe that the whole don't eat after a certain time thing has to do moreso with fact that most of us work during the day, eat, then go to sleep a short time after eating giving no opportunity to burn off what you eat. Some people I know who work night shift eat all night long and have no problem with their weight but they don't eat close to when it's time to go home and don't eat Breakfast when they get home, which would be our normal "dinner time." Statement 3. Your'e right. If that were the case, we wouldn't be alive because over time our hearts and other organs with muscle fibers would eventually totally turn into fat Muscle loses tone, but doesn't change into something else transformers style.
  10. That sucks. Hope you feel better soon. BTW, I saw one of your posts on another thread about signs warning people not to go across the border. Did you see any such signs when you went? {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  11. Took a travel nursing assignment to save money and I'm going to end up using some of what I made to pay for this and take time off work. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}

    Reaction From The Men In Your Life

    Supportive of me- not so supportive of my choice. My father saw me previously lose 100lbs on my own busting my butt in the gym and walking. At the time I had a very physical job as well where I was walking, lifting boxes,etc.- so I literally was working out about 35 hours at work (40 hours minus breaks) and 10-20 additional hours on my own walking and weight training. The weight fell off and it was easy and took about 5-6 months. My dad said "why can't you just do what you did before?" Then my significant other says to do it the old fashioned way. Uh... we are both overweight and always talking about what we're "going to do" but haven't done it yet. He told me he does not agree with the way that I am doing this and definitely doesn't want me to have WLS. It doesn't help that his mother had WLS years ago and has since gained the weight back and is having an issue with her stomach that he hasn't clearly explained to me. What I do know is when I was smaller, they both had nothing but good things to say and my boyfriend couldn't/wouldn't keep his hands off me (not that that's changed a whole lot but it was way worse). They've both accepted my choice and will support me along the way. My father will be there with me for my surgery as well as my mother. He told me that if we get there and he doesn't like what's happening, he's going to say "let's get the sh#t out of here!" BTW, I thought the saying was get the he!l out of here- but whatever you say, dad. Boyfriend won't be there due to work and I wasn't going to postpone this the one month I would have to just so he can be there. This surgery is for me- and the most important thing is that I SHOW UP!

  14. I concur. That needs an update. At least get the adhesive or whatever it is up and it obviously isn't urine (come on sheesh). We aren't that silly. Who's pee is that color?! Not mine that's for sure! Anyway, the important thing is everything went well for you, you are safe and sound, and glad you are doing good after surgery. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
  15. The tummy pillow is super cute, but oh my goodness- the bathroom!! I would run for the hills or peed in a cup! I'm glad I have Clorox cleanup wipes on my packing list. Janitors shooting up? I'm not going there for surgery, but I'm getting nervous.
  16. I actually haven't but I was thinking about going to PF Changs for my favorite cocktail a few days before I actually have to start my preop diet. I have some weeks to go but I started replacing Breakfast with a Protein drink and some days I've done it for dinner too- but I did notice headaches. I'm glad I'm doing it this way so I won't feel like it's so drastic. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}
