My concern is not going back too soon when I've heard people say that they smell after surgery. I want to stay away from work until I'm extra ok in that arena. I'm a labor and delivery nurse and am in very close contact with my patients doing epidurals we basically are hugging each other. I'm looking forward to living- being active, traveling without worrying about the airplane seat or a seatbelt extender, going places hoping I don't have to cram myself into the seat, doing activities and not having my weight be a factor in whether I can do it or not. I have a question about Protein drinks because on the preop diets they tell you to drink shakes and never mention the other protein beverages like Isopure. Does it matter which ones you drink? {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}

I've never heard anyone mention Dr Martinez!! When Lori emailed me, she asked if I would be ok with speaking to Dr Martinez and I said no I wanted to speak to Dr Ortiz. Had I known that I would've been fine with speaking to him instead I'll have to email Lori (I'm sure she's avoiding me and/or is busy). I'm sitting here already nervous as all get out and my doctor won't even call me?! Some doctors require you meet ahead of time and I'm going into this blindly. I definitely don't question their ability- it's obvious they know what they are doing. I just don't want to be left out in the cold when I "saw the signs" ahead of time. Now I know and I'll speak with Martinez. Thank you guys. It's really hard to just trust and take people's word for everything. Also you know everyone always talks about Batman ( I call Dr Ortiz Batman in my head). I'm seriously considering not going to OCC at this point. Don't know that it's a good fit for me. I've asked Lori since Aug 22nd to Skype with Dr Ortiz and have gotten nothing but sorries and he's busies. I asked her to call me but I got no call nothing but emails. I wouldn't go as far as saying she's jealous, seems like it was just a slip of the tongue and of course as the party planner she probably wasn't thinking about what she said. Oh well, that will probably be the least of the silly comments you will hear, especially once you start losing. I'm an RN too and chose to tell everyone at work what I'm doing so I will hopefully not have to hear so many dumb comments, but we all know how stupid people can be.
