    Reality check

You are doing great! I hope I do as good as you are doing...I saw my 'before' surgery pics yesterday and almost got sick!!! Can't wait to see my 'after' pics!
  3. Ok...I have just caught up on all of my reading,(every post on this topic!) and I could say a lot but I won't! I'm 7 weeks & 2 days post-op and of all the things I've left behind the only thing I've been craving lately is a dad-gum piece of fried chicken!!! Well, yesterday I ate a piece of fried chicken, ok, so I ate 'some' of a piece of fried chicken and I enjoyed every little bite of it! Thank you Madam Reverie for starting this topic so all of us that are grown up and are allowed to make our own decisions can come to it and enjoy reading posts on a topic that we can all relate to...I don't know anyone that can diet and NEVER have a little 'cheat-treat'!!!
  4. I think mine is longer than 2 weeks, I went to an appointment with my nutritionist on the 10th (1 month post op) and she advanced me to soft/pureed, I just gotta get better at measuring and weighing my foods! I go back Monday for my second check-up (5 wks. 5 days) with the doc., can't wait to see how he thinks I'm doing!
  5. Don't be jealous girl...I am on soft/pureed and if you aren't careful you can really make yourself feel like 'crap' (that's being polite!). I made myself go back to liquids & some pureed each day and that seems to working pretty good for me for now! Maybe advancing slower is better...or maybe I just don't know what I'm doing! I'm just glad to be losing weight!!!
  6. I'm three weeks out from my surgery too and I feel the same way.
  7. OK...I have just read every post on this topic and as usual I have learned a lot. I am only 2 weeks & 3 days out from my surgery however, when I get to a point that I feel comfortable with it I am sooooo havin' beer, McFnDonald's French fries, a piece of pizza, a cheeseburger, cheese sticks, chocolate something, coke zero with a straw, lasagna, and a piece of red velvet cake, maybe not on the same day but I'm having it all eventually! Till then I'm just gonna sip my water and shut up!

    6 days left

I know what you mean!!! I'm 15 days post-op and so glad that I had this surgery!

    Cottage cheese....?

I've tried to chew cottage cheese 25-30 times and it just ain't happening! I don't think it's a problem though because mush is mush!!! Before this surgery I couldn't stand cottage cheese...then I found out it had 11 grams of protein and it started tasting a lot better to me!
  10. Glad to hear you are doing so good! I have had more than a few of those 'buyers remorse' moments...Sometimes when my husband is making his dinner I almost have panic attacks thinking 'what have I done to myself' or 'I'm never gonna be able to eat food again', that's when I start telling myself that this surgery is saving me from myself and I will eat food again, just not the huge quantities I used to eat! That usually helps!

    Phase 2 sample menu

Unflavored protein powder might help...I mix it in with creamed soups, applesauce, yogurt, & mashed taters...I usually use 1/2 a serving of it just to keep the foods 'normal'!!!

    Week 2 Post-Op

What a coincidence, I never in my life would have thought I would ever eat whatever hummas is but my husband went to the store a little while ago with hummas on his list!!

    Phase 2 sample menu

I'm on the pureed phase now and I use my Magic Bullet to chop my meals till they are mush! 2oz piece of tilapia with 2 tbls of thinned mashed potatoes puree really good! I had 2oz of chicken breast with 2 tbls thinned mashed potatoes last night and it was pretty much like mush by the time me and my MB got finished pulverizing it! I can't eat it all but it helps me get my proteins in. I'm still having a protein shake for breakfast usually but thinned cream of wheat with an egg pulverized in it is pretty good. Decaf coffee with chocolate protein powder in it ain't bad either! All of these things were on the sample menu that my doc gave me when he moved me up to pureed. Hope some or all of this helps.
  14. I know what you mean, that is what hurt me the most after my surgery. I kept a pillow with me and held it against my body when getting up, coughing, sneezing, etc, it helped a lot. The good news is after about a week it starts hurting a little less every day! Good luck!
  15. I had the same problem my first week post-op...Thank God for whoever invented Milk of Magnesia and dulcolax tabs...word of advice, DO NOT take them together unless you plan on spending the day VERY close to the restroom...saying anything more than that would be WAY over-sharing!

    hello

I was sleeved on the 11th and I feel indigestiony sometimes after I drink a meal, when I do I chew sugar-free tums, if one doesn't do tha trick I get another one! Hope you feel better...
  17. I had my one week post-op doc appointment today and from what he said I'm doing great!!! It sure has been a long week though!
  18. I have found when I take selfies that if the lighting is off even a smidge that it makes my nose and jowls look really big...LOL
  19. I like Unjury chocolate, chicken, and unflavored...they all taste good mixed in with drinks and are great for before and after surgery! I use the chocolate in skim milk or almond milk, I mix the chicken in broth & other creamed soups and I use the unflavored in yogurt.
  20. I'm 5'8 and my goal weight is 173. I remember BRIEFLY weighing 173 when I did the Atkins diet about 10 years ago and I was so proud of myself for being able to buy medium and large sized clothes! If I lose more than 173 I don't reckon I would complain about it! I am really looking forward to reaching my goal weight!
  21. I feel like someone cut out most of my stomach

  22. You should be very proud of yourself! You're doing a great job!
  23. So glad to hear you are cancer free and your hair grew back. I on the other hand have never (Thank God) had to fight cancer or loose all of my hair. I am on this site to learn and ask questions in order to learn about what I can expect over the next days, months, & years. I make no apologies to anyone for asking questions about hair loss or anything else.
  24. Hope you don't mind me asking but since your surgery date have you gotten your proteins & liquids in everyday and taken a multivitamin and biotin and still gotten this kind of hair loss???
