  1. Time has zoomed by... I feel like I just went to the seminar, yet that was in mid July! Over 2 months ago. I remember thinking, wow this is going to drag by, especially with all these appointments spread out like they were... My first appointment with the surgeon was Aug. 15th...and that was over a month ago already... All my test are done except my 2nd stress test on Wednesday...and then its on to my last appointment with NUT & Surgeon..and then Surgery sometime a week or two after...

So, I'm looking at less than a month for surgery (fingers crossed).

  2. I still haven't committed 100% to doing the surgery. I'm scared, basically. And I do think those of us who chose to keep it a secret, for the most part, are ashamed. I know I am and that's why it's taken me so long to fully commit to a surgery date. I have to make this extremely drastic choice because nothing else worked. So yes, part of why I'm not telling people is because I am ashamed and I think we would be fooling ourselves if we didn't admit that to our fellow posters. That said, I'm very glad to have the opportunity to maybe not be anymore.

You're taking control of your health..nothing to be ashamed of.. :)

  3. During your consult. The doctor should share their history with you. I know mine did. He went over all the surgery percentages on a large scale and where he ranked with respect to leaks, weight regain, support, other medical issues as well as mortality rates. Thank goodness, he's had no one die..but he was very open and very honest...about his stats vs the overall averages. I feel completely confident and comfortable with him.

  4. It took me about a month to do all the pre op requirements. The office submitted on Monday and Thursday the same week I was approved. I have Empire bcbs, Anthem. Oo and my surgery date was given to me on my first visit with the surgeon after the seminar. They said if I wasnt approved by then, the date would change. Good thing I did lol. It seems all the offices operate so differently. Good Luck! I hope you get a date soon!

Isn't it odd how they all work and operate differently..lol I guess the doctor's office is no different than the insurance companies... so many variations in practices and for approvals. I was pre-approved 1 day after my 1st meeting with the surgeon in August..just had to do all the required test and other appointments.

  5. Your body does things in order. It is unfathomably complex and many departments have to do their thing before the scale moves. Sometimes a sluggard in one department fails to read the memo about hurrying from the brain and takes a nap. Eventually the calorie deficit comes in and kicks his butt into action.

Ha Ha..love the analogy.. Sound like the American government of late..lol

  6. Oh my! Long boobs! Mine will probably be dragging the ground by the time all is said and lost. My present to myself for my 39.5 birthday will be a boob job- (lift, nip, tuck, whip em up) whatever they need after I lose. I say 39.5 so they will be healed by my actual 40th bday ;)

Yep. It is going to be my 50th birthday present...a boob job... lift them suckers up...from the basement.

  7. Ya all my stuff is done. They are sending it in to the insurance, I figured it was too late since I had all my appointments done and the surgeon was sending in my paperwork. I will check online, Thanks!!

If they approved one surgeon can't see why it can't be transferred to another that is in network. I mean, all the paperwork and test are done...should be relatively easy. Hopefully, the new doc will only need to see you for an office visit...

  8. I am going to look into it. Im new to all this so Im not sure how to find out what surgeons are in my network, I guess I just call the insurance. But ya I am going to find someone who can do it before the end of the year, my deductible is already met and I am not waiting till January!

Yep. Call your insurance company. In fact, you probably can go on their website and find a doctor that is in Network... If the doc is that busy and you've got everything else lined up, I say try to find someone else in your area.

    Good luck.

  9. Almost there. I thought for sure all my test would be wrapped as of yesterday, but no such luck. I had my cardio stress test and even though it and 2 separate EKGs looked fine, and the echo was fine on wednesday, my cardiologist now wants me to do a Nuclear Stress Test next week. Seems, he figured out, he can order more test without pre-approval and certifications and the insurance company will pay because I have a premium plan. So, I guess, he's trying to get every dime he can. I've seen him 5x already..I mean dude, really..lol.. there's nothing wrong with my heart at all. But I'll play along because I need him to sign off by October 2 because I have my last appointment with the NUT & Surgeon... hoped to be scheduled for surgery in Mid-October.

It is true all the plans are different. I had no 6 month supervised diet, only had to visit the doctors office in three separate, yet consecutive months. What's nice about my docs office is that the psych and the NUT are part of his Bariatric Practice and they are all located in one building. I did have to do GI series, Lab Work, but no sleep study, no nicotine testing, no pulmonary test and no endoscopy either.

  10. Man I wish I was a 40 D... Im a 46 or 48 DD at the moment n killer back pain... I cant wait to drop the sizes.. Going to talk to my doc 2 the 23rd see what else my insurance is askin for then a wait for the date :)... Cant wait ... Sooooo happy

Yes, I know the feeling. I'm doing a half dance now..lol..almost there.. I'll be glad to get some cute bras too (I'm 42DD now) and have to wear these boulder holders ..can't wait to toss them! I'm not prone to a whole lot of belly or back fat, for me it's my arms and thighs... thunder CAT...for real..lol..ugh..

  11. I had a similar issue, unrelated to WLS. I called my insurance company and filed a complaint. Needless to say the doctor and his practice was taken off their network.

Hmmmm...I need him at the moment..lol If he doesn't give me the go ahead after this next test, it is going to get ugly and fast! I have an appt with my surgeon and the last appt with my NUT on 10/2 and then I'm to be scheduled for surgery shortly thereafter. So, he has one week to get her done..or it's going to be WWIII!

  12. "Rant On"

I'm irked. My process is being held up by the money grab from the doctor. At least that's how I see it. I have premium health insurance, it requires no pre-certifications or approvals for any test, at all. So I guess to some it's like Card Blanche or a blank check to run test and up the office visits. I've been scheduled for every heart test imaginable and it's all through one office. I've had at least 6 different heart test and with each one, it's "everything looks okay, but let's be on the safe side and do this test too".. Oy Vey! (lol) I did the regular stress test and didn't break a sweat, or have any issues at all..now it's off to the races for an expanded Nuclear Stress test. Ugh! I have never had any issues with my heart...at all ...never! Had a complete physical in May and all was well.

I have a short window and I really need him to give the WLS the okay so I can move forward.

I know I shouldn't be so nit picky, but I'm getting irritated because it's getting closer and I want things settled already. I don't want my timeline altered at all because a doctor sees a way to make more money. Arrggggh

Okay back to your regularly scheduled program...
