  1. 500 calories, plus exercise?

No way. Where would your energy source come from?

Since I exercise 4 days a week, my Nut has me at 1200 calories per day with 80 grams of Protein and with that I don't have to watch carbs and fats because I'm too busy concentrating on Protein, so my intake of those two are already at a pretty low count.

  2. I had the sleeve performed on 1/20. I was on Protein shakes and clear fluids for two weeks pre op and 2 weeks post op. It's now been three days that I've been able to have purée foods like mashed potatoes, apple sauce yogurt and Soups.

After being on the clear Fluid diet for so long I thought I would be happy to move on. I have felt regret since the moment I woke up from surgery , and despite my hope it would get better when I could eat more it's actually gotten much worse.

I miss so much about life before this surgery. I don't know how I will adjust. I miss taking big gulps of cold Water. I sip and sip and sip, but I am always thirsty. I miss the joy of eating with friends and family and eating good foods. I miss being able to drink while I'm eating and I hate having to wait half an hour before and after eating to drink. Will it always take me half an hour to drink a cup of Water? Will the rest of my life be spent feeling thirsty, hungry, counting minutes till I can drink water or constantly tracking my Protein? I chose the sleeve over the bypass so that I would still be able to have a semi-normal life. There's no point regretting something that cannot be undone, but I do.

I'm two months post op and have adjusted nicely. I don't have to sip my water anymore, I don't gulp it either because that's not healthy, but I can drink a pretty liberal amount with no problem. I break bread with family and friends all the time, I just order something from the kiddie menu and something healthy. If I'm thirsty while eating, I take a sip of water. As my Nut said, "it won't kill you and as long as you don't over do it, it won't wash away the nutrients from your meal...which is the whole point of not drinking and eating at the same time!"

I feel more in control than I ever have with regard to food and my eating habits.

This too shall pass. Remember this is for a lifetime and for your health. Maybe you should speak to a psychiatrist again, could be you need to talk it out with a professional.

    Anyway, good luck.

  3. Hope everyone is doing well! Just checking in.. been super busy with work, family and other things.

Managed to Celebrate my birthday this past weekend without indulging in all the party food that was around me. My ex-hubby had a huge superbowl party and I was surrounded by wings, pizza, chips, pretzels, subs, cake, Cookies, chili, mac and cheese, beer, wine and mixed drinks... O.M.G.!

But I was good...actually took some Wendy's Chili, turkey pepperoni and string cheese with me...and happily ate only that... Amazing how much I've changed..I used to dive head first into all the goodies...

What a difference a year makes.

  4. Seems like I wake up most nights around 2am and am hungry. Is this happening to other folks? What are you doing about it? It makes sense that I would be physically hungry, if I'm having 2 oz of soft food around 6pm, but I don't really want to "wake up" and have more food. But then I think, well, I *am* awake! Part of its typical "woke up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep," but it seems even harder with these hunger pangs.

Not a huge problem... Just every thing seems more ponderable when it's 2am and you can't sleep! :)

It has happened to me from time to time...I just eat a tablespoon of all natural, sugar free Peanut Butter or a piece of fat free cheese, and I can go right back to sleep.

  5. I'm getting 700-750 calories a day and 65-80 grams of Protein. I still have a really hard time getting all my Water in. I only average 40-50oz per day. How are you doing?
Fantastic!I'm getting in about 70-100 grams of protein a day with about 800 calories and the scale barely moves. I just started exercising so hopefully that will get the scale moving.

I work out 4x a week, I think that helps, but I think getting the water in really makes a big difference too. I generally drink between 80 and 960z, but no less than 80oz.

  6. I never heard of program fees. My doc never said anything about any other fees... and didn't bill my ins. for anything other than the surgery and my visits to his office. He even offers free support group meetings and a boot camp (mandatory informational session) right before surgery at no cost.

Definitely sounds like some padding to me.

  7. I added turkey pepperoni at a month out. Hormel makes them in slices and the carb, sugar and calorie content is low, Protein is good. Just gotta be careful with the sodium and get your Water in..

But anyway, I put the pepperoni on a plate, put them in the microwave with for about a minute and a half and they come out extra crunchy. I love it...even put some fat free shredded cheese on them ... and got my pizza fix..lol

  8. Hello! Hope everyone is having a wonderful sleevers weekend!

    My stats:

    HW 348

    SW 330

    CW 291

    Loss another 3lbs!

Went to a Denver Broncos Fan Footbal party today at my cousin's house--there was food everywhere--..all the crap I used to stuff my face with like pizza, chips, fried chicken, mac & cheese, hotdogs, Pasta, etc..plus beer and martinis! Thaks to my new buddy (my sleeve) it didn't phase me at all!

Hey has anyone tried the Crystal Light Appletini Water flavor! OMG, it really is delish! My cousin took care of me...I had faux appletinis and grilled chicken legs with garlic spinach with some Protein crisps she found at Whole Foods. Nice crunch. She also sliced up some turkey pepperoni and fat free cheese for me...

    I adore her.

  9. Hello AA Sleevers! Happy 2014! I hope everyone is doing well. Had my one month follow up today.. Doc was very pleased..but not happier than I..lol

I've lost 12.5 inches off my waist...Lovin' it!

If you're readin' this thread and are on the fence about VSG surgery..jump off and start your new life!! It has been a blessing for me..and I expect to only get better!

Edited for correction: I meant month and a half follow up, not month. No more doctor's appointments until April now..

  10. Hello all! Boy am I glad to have found y'all. I am nearly 6months post op and I am experiencing awful Hair loss. I'm mostly seeing thinning. Have any of you experienced this? Any suggestions?

    ---

I'll be 5 weeks out tomorrow and its a concern of mine cause its been a struggle to get in enough Protein with hernia repair

When did it start for you? I hear it usually lasts from month 3-6 for most but many say growth comes back strong at 7 or 8 months. How much protein are you averaging each day?

My hair is usually in braids so not sure if that's better or worse -- I also plan to cut off my relaxed ends soon as I haven't had a touch up in over 5 months

My hair is in braid right now too. I had them put in for surgery, but I will be taking them out in the next week because my hair dresser said if you have extensions or hair added to your for braiding then it will only put more stress on the roots and it will fall out quicker, even with the Vitamins, protein and Biotin. . Ugh.. So back to the natural do for now.
