  1. Hi. So I'm nearing the end of my full liquid stage and i've developed a strong aversion to protien shakes which of course means my Protein needs aren't being met. I've been eating some soft foods (and honestly some that are more like normal food) to get my Protein and I fell a little bad about not following the diet stages precisely. But I haven't had any problems with any of the foods I've been eating, even the regular ones. I guess I just wanted some opinions on this because I hate not "following the rules" but on the other hand I need to get the protien somehow. Thoughts?

Hi there!!! Don't feel bad about not "following the rules" because this thing definitely gets tiring after awhile. I'm in the puree phase, but I'm allowed to have blended Soups with meat and this is how I get mine in. You may want to try Isopure protein juice drinks (Vitamin Shoppe) or there is this product called ProtiDiet that mixes with water/juice. Hope this is helpful and continued success to you.

  2. WoW...that's amazing!!!!! A little less than 3 months. Now I know we're not supposed to base our own weight loss on someone else, but I want to be like you...lol!!! Congrats and continued success on maintain your loss. Oh, and nice pair of boots pulls everything together!!!

  3. Congrats on your weight loss!!! I love the fact that you said you've changed your relationships with food, friends, and people. I didn't realize how my current situation was hurting my family, and I'm happy I was able to get the surgery because while I'm changing myself I'll be changing my family's eating habits in the process. Your story is inspiring and I can't wait to get to where I can fit my teen's clothes... she thinks I'm buying her clothes just for her liking!!! Good Luck to you and continued success!!!!!

  4. I'm assuming we are all in the puree stage right now... so sick of what I've been eating and its only been a week. What are some things you guys are eating? Running out of ideas over here...

I can truly understand...I straining the liquid out of canned Soups and also I went wayward and got some soups from Atlanta bread Company. I'm over the unlabeled Protein and now I'm switching to chocolate. I don't start pureed foods until Saturday....can't wait to see how I do with scrambled eggs.< /p>

  5. I had bypass on 12/09/13 and am concern Might be consuming my fluids to quickly and too much? I can drink my Protein Shake in about 30 mins and can drink Water very freely. Should I be concerned?

When you say that you can drink freely. Are you saying that you can drink up to 12 oz or you're not sipping and just gulping it without taking a pause? For myself I have noticed it doesn't take me long to down my shake, but when I drink water, juice, etc. I do sip because it feels very funny going down.

  6. Hello everyone!!! I had my first post open visit on the 16th and the doctor said I'm doing well. I've lost 18 lbs so far and can tell the difference in the way my clothes fit. I've been cleared to do about exercises in 3 wks, but to start walking with weights now. My incisions are healing well and just look like little scratches on my stomach. This is so exciting!!!! I hope everyone else is also still doing well. Have a beautiful day.

  7. Hello tip3rd and ghopeful. Congrats to you both on your sugeries. I just keep sipping throughout the day. My Protein intake is going well. Right now I'm not loving the taste of the broth or cream of chicken but l'll manage. Trying to get in my metformin and Vitamins throughout the day was kind of crazy in the beginning. We were given a sample menu, measuring tools, etc. but never explained really when to take the vitamins.

  8. I was advised to quit smoking 12 wks prior to surgery or my surgery wasn't going to happen. WTF!!! I had to just make up in my mind to quit that day. It was hard especially being around my sister who smoked.. I did cheat twice but didn't finish the whole cigarette. When I craved one I would eat gum or find something to do with my hands to keep me focused. I'm rooting for you!!!!

  9. I know what you're going through. The months leading up to my surgery I had everything planned out and estimated my time for surgery to be between Nov 4-12, 2013. Ha!!! What was I thinking. I found out that I wasn't the only one having the procedure done and I had to wait my turn in line. I was frustrated at times because all my paperwork was turned in and everything was approved by Oct. 23 (consent form signed), but I still had this waiting game. My big day finally came around Dec. 3. All in all I had to remain patient until they called me for my surgery date. I know in the end everything will work out for you and hopefully you'll have your surgery within the 30 days of signing your consent form.

  10. Dec. 3, 2013 was the day I had the opportunity to start regaining my life back. I chose to have the gastric bypass performed and had to endure the infamous 2 day pre-op diet. I must say that that was the hardest thing ever for me. On surgery day, all was well until the actually procedure began. During the procedure it was revealed that I had a hiatal hernia and my stomach had been positioned in my chest area. Nevertheless, he took care of those issues and everything was fine from that point. Now, I'm 5 days post-op and I'm sore without any pain. I've lost 6 celebrated lbs. since my surgery and plan on checking again during my first post-op apt Dec. 16th. The only challenge I've encountered so far is keeping on the eating schedule. I find myself falling asleep and messing that thing all the way up. Hopefully, I'll get better managing it soon.
