  1. Hi' date=' I guess I would belong to this group :) I am currently 39 yrs had 4 children and i currently weigh 189 before pre-op diet. My goal weight is 120, I weighed that 10 yrs ago and want to look like that again. My surgery date is Oct 5 th 2013 and everybody keeps looking at me and saying "why" are you getiing wls surgery? My bmi is 35 and i am diabetic, high cholesterol and have depression. I am hoping i can lose all these conditions along with my weight![/quote']

People told me the same thing bc I have a nice shape and dont look that heavy. I did it for me bc I had too many meds and conditions to even list.

  2. I cut thru all the red tape BS and went to Mexico. I had a good time and I am down 56 pounds so far. Surgery was on May 22nd

Me too skinny2be. Im bk home and losing a pd a day. By the I was going to have my first appt in the US. ..Sept.23rd...I will be over at least 25 pounds lost. I had my surgery sept. 10th in mexico...no bs str8 money and to the point. I started at 225...now Im 203.8 in 1 week.

  3. Are you are taking a Biotin pill? If so, what brand. In the past I had Vitamin toxicity so I cant take too many Vitamins. Don't laugh, but I take 2 Flintstone Multivitamin chewables w/extra Iron, B12 tablet, and my regular meds...blood pressure, plavix, and cholesterol until I lose my weight. I'm anemic so I need the iron and these vitamins are really working well for me right now. I just dont want an overload bc of the consequences.

  4. I wish we had a subforum so we could post new topics withing African American Sleevers' date=' and if there is would someone point me in the right direction? This thread is too long and we discuss such a myriad of relevant topics, but it is hard to get to each topic.

I have a question for my tenured sleeve sisters. What did you do about your hair? Did you find that you suffered from significant Hair loss? And if so, how did you manage it(weave? wig?hats? scarves?etc...) Have you found products that have helped with the hair loss issues unique to our hair types? I am heading towards my 3rd month post op and trying to brace myself for the hair issues. I am planning to weave, but I am in AZ and it is soooo hot here right now.[/quote']

I was wondering the same thing since our hair texture is different. I have weave with a closure just in case but I am planning on going bk to my real, short hair after I lose weight anyway. I am just tired of the constant weave, wigs, tightness from braids and sew ins. It gets exhausting! I am natural now and will prob stay that way for a while after surgery since it keeps my hair thicker.

  5. Hey guys! September 9th in Tijuana' date=' as mentioned before.

Update: I have been following my pre-op diet: Protein Shake AM, Protein shake lunch, light salad with some form of protein (chix, fish, etc) and a protein shake later in the evening if needed. It has been working out quite well, and I have been working out pretty damn hard. 1 hour of cardio a day (most days), but I have also been lifting some weights ---which has most likely slowed my weight loss. Should I stop that? It just feels so good to lift!!! ;D

Anyway, doing well, surgery is THIS MONDAY! I am so friggin nervous, but SO EXCITED!

I am however, a little nervous about post op liquid diet. I have noticed that Isopure is very popular, so I believe I am going to buy some today. What are all of you buying for your post op?

I hope all of you are having a beautiful morning! CHEERS :D[/quote']

I just looked at ISOPURE unflavored and the punch mix. I think I will order unflavored bc you can mix it with smoothies, juice, Water, and Soup. There is a mixture of reviews about the punch...mostly bad!

  6. Omg....I am putting hubby on diet! Lol.

Lmbo!!! My hubby gained 60 pounds in our first yr of marriage and he is 6'4. I could barely breathe during sex. I'm only 5'1...lol! He has loss the weight and big difference in our sex life. He has more energy and everything else. He is still trying to lose 50 more pounds. I am excited to see how it will be once I lose about 50 pds. Lol

  7. I'm 8 weeks post op' date=' 43 lbs lost, and I have definitely noticed a difference. The mound feels less cushiony and outer lips slightly deflated. I was talking to my fiancé about it and he said he liked it better before the weight loss. What?!? Then he followed up with "I do like that I can go deeper now." He's also been losing weight and I told him that between my weight loss and his, it's like he gained a full inch. So I'm not complaining. Lol[/quote']

Every 35 pounds a man loses,he gains an inch in length.
