    All you can eat

I for what ever reason can do water. Anything else not so much. Not crystal light nothing goes down like water! But we are all different so see what works for you.

    so aggravated

Oh no problem. I started my process in February and was approved at the end of July. Had surgery on 8/12. But some insurances want more than others I'm not even kidding the first time my paperwork was submitted was June 25th My ins. decided I needed 1 more nutrition appt. so I had to go to another appt. then they had to re submit my paperwork again which was July 3rd. Like I said before I watched her fax it the first time... And I do believe they had her refax the paperwork a total of 4 times. Each time she called to check the status. I had a very diligent office staff. She emailed me each time she spoke to the ins. So I called and they told me they received nothing, to which I had to tell them I saw her fax it.. Then they were like um uh .. It just takes some time sometimes.. Don't worry bout it.. It will all come together.

    so aggravated

Don't get discouraged. I watched my drs office fax the paperwork to my ins. And a week after that the ins said they never got anything... Which I knew was crap, they faxed it on July 3rd right before a holiday so of course they "didn't get it"
  4. Not every place will honor the cards.. But many places do if you ask to speak to a manager. If they are hesitant my friend who had the surgery a few years ago tells them she will gladly pay the adult price and make -14 plates full of food that will be wasted... Because she will take one bite off each plate. Often they will give you the senior price over the child's price.. But it's worked at every buffet she has been to...

But in the last week I've only noticed it a few times and it was after I was really active for longer than usual.

    All you can eat

I'm approaching my 5 weeks out, had a NUT class with several other vsg patients. Some of us had the same dr. Others of us had different dr's and each dr is very different in their program requirements. But the very thing they all agreed on is the tracking of Protein fats and sugars. Our goal is to eat 1200 calories a day once we are a few months out. Right now there wasnt one of us that could more than 1/4 cup of food at the moment and protein is the most important as far as she was concerned. She said by 2-21/2 months out we will probably be able to eat 1/2cup by 4 months out 3/4 cup and 5 months about a cup of food. The idea was to fill half of it with protein the other half 3/4 way full of veggies and the last 1/4 of food with carbs or fruit. I haven't tried eating anything that wasn't in my guidelines as I did this surgery to be healthier and try my best to reverse my diabetes. Self confidence was never my issue ask every friend or family member I've got... Confidence is something that I've had in troves. My entire point of this surgery was to obviously limit food intake and eating healthy. So for me I don't want to eat the stuff I'm not suppose to.. I'm planning very much on eating the way I'm suppose to.. But I don't see it as a diet I see it as hey this is my new lifestyle. It's not like that for everyone and that's completely ok! We all have to do what's right for us. I hope everyone has good luck in their journey no matter what paths they take.

    Meatballs

Lol I used soft tofu a few times my grams thought they were pretty good! But now that I have a family member allergic to soy I can't do that anymore! Maybe ill try the beans!
  8. Nope. I was drinking the exact same ones before the surgery on my pre op diet. Things happen. What can ya do? Deal with it and keep moving forward!!! I finally don't itch today! It's taken a few days but that makes me happy!

    August sleevers progress

Surgery date 8/12 Highest weight at beginning of process 300 Weight at pre op w/surgeon 285 Weight on surgery day 268 Weight at two week follow up 255 Today's weight 250 My biggest hurdle was discovering I'm allergic to the Protein drinks... Which is so not awesome! Leave it to me to be allergic to (and have a crazy allergic reaction to) the one thing a Barriatric patient needs for getting in protein ...

    Itchy

I'm gonna have to go to my PCP and get allergy tested. I'm still itchy from yesterday and my what looked like little sunburn blisters are gone from the Benadryl but I'm still itchy... Leave it to me to have an allergic reaction to the one thing Barriatric surgery patients need to have...

    Itchy

Anyone notice after they drink a protein drink they get incredibly itchy? I think I'm allergic to an ingredient... Omg it's terrible!

    Aetna....

Aetna changed their requirements! This happened to me on what was suppose to be my last appt. but once you get all the requirements in and paperwork was submitted it took two weeks for approval but my last appt was July 3rd so I'm sure it had a little to do with the holiday weekend.

nectar and Isopure Holy nuts I have broken out in little red bumps everywhere!!! I'm incredibly itchy! I've been a little itchy but I thought it was normal dry skin like but today within 30 min of drinking the Protein drink I was in terrible itches and I had to bust open a Benadryl capsule pint it in some crystal light and drink it down ....

  18. Was it that brand?? I could barely chew them unless it was really small bites the texture was really very dry and chewy. Lol goes to show you how different everyone is!!

I Want To See Before & After Pics!

Everyone looks great! Congratulations!! Only about 4 weeks out from surgery I can tell I lost a few inches and its weird to measure this way but my towel closes after a shower. I use to have an opening gap between the ends of the towel and now it overlaps!! Yeah I know it's weird.. But once I get to it ill have to start taking pics of the journey. I'm 5'7" so I'm feeling a bit taller than most of the women posting. Lol
  20. I can't even think about trying those the thought of chocolate makes me ill. Lol since the surgery chocolate flavored anything. Makes me want to vomit. I'm not good with vanilla either... Lol go figure! But I remember before surgery I would eat the pure Protein Peanut Butter bars I think it had 2 grams of sugar and 20g of protein but it also had 16g carbs... They made me full back then I'd often eat them for lunch at work and it took forever to chew them!
  21. I had to get weight history for 3 years I just went to my PCP and they log your weight every time you go in... So they printed me up a report and I took it to my surgeons office.
  22. I wore a tank top and old navy lounge shorts. Wore that home from the hospital too. I just kinda kept everything as lounge as possible! I have a recliner in my room lucky me ... It was much more comfortable to sleep and rest in the recliner. After about a week I was able to lay on my right side in bed and sleep. But it's getting easier to sleep at close to 4 weeks post op.
