Mine was a joke, he asked me if I knew what I was getting into, I said yes. He then preceded to type out his approval letter while he bashed Ted Cruz for shutting down the government.

How much everyone lose in the 1st week?
Reviewer replied to re14768's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
17 pounds -
I drink one daily for breakfast. 50 grams of Protein per shake. Lots of flavors, free shipping.
-
Crystal lite still gets me through the day. Broth makes me gag, I can't even look at the container without feeling nauseated. Gatorade G2 also got me through the liquid phase.

the days before surgery
Reviewer replied to jdillon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had blood work, chest X-ray and a pulmonary function test the day before surgery. I took that day off plus 3 weeks for recovery. Please take as much time as possible to recover. -
I g Had the same issues my first week post op. Pain meds, anesthesia or just hormonal changes that occurred.

Did you have heel spurs or plantar fasciitis...
Reviewer replied to Flutterfly19's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had plantar fasciitis for 4 years prior to my sleeve surgery January 29. I've lost a total of 60 pounds and my PF has resolved by 90%. So relieved I can now wear regular shoes. -
Hang in there things will keep improving. Fluids can be tough to hit goals early on. If you are urinating regularly than you are getting them in.

You won't have much capacity following surgery so find a shake/mix with a high level of protein which will give you more bang fir the buck. Isopure no carb mix with 12 ounces of milk gives you 68 grams if protein. That one shake will satisfy your daily requirement.

January 2014 Sleevers Come In!
Reviewer replied to HipsAndLipstick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Day 2 post op and all is well. Pain is manageable, no nausea or vomiting. All in all a great experience looking forward to my new life. -
Hang in there and get back your focus. I gave up beer in August after almost 30 years of drinking it on a regular basis. When I started to lose my focus I thought of my goal and of my wife and kids. Focus on the prize!

January 2014 Sleevers Come In!
Reviewer replied to HipsAndLipstick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I start the low carb diet on Wednesday and liquid diet two weeks after that. Both my wife and daughter will be doing the dieting plan with me. I'm grateful for their support and for the support from this forum since beginning this process in September. My date is January 29th. Best wishes to all my fellow January sleevers. -

Federal blue cross blue shield basic
Reviewer replied to cranberryridge's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have BCBS basic and was told the decision will usually come one month after I complete my 3 month supervised diet program. -
I review/audit medical charts for the Federal Government. I'm in my first of three months of supervised diet and nutrition. I'm hoping for a January surgery date.
-
I'm also pre op and was told I would pay 150 copay to surgeon and 150 copay per day to hospital up to 500 if additional days are needed. I have BCBS Federal Basic.

Best NSV Ever... For me anyway
Reviewer replied to indecision's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Too cool! -
I was diagnosed in 1997 and have used a cpap ever since. Not much luck with the nasal pad type delivery but I did well with the full facial mask. It's my hope that the weight loss will finally free me of this machine.

I'm so excited but still seems so far away
Reviewer replied to leelah68's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have my first appointment on Tuesday and I've been told my supervised diet will last for 3 months. Hoping for late December as my wife will be off for the holidays. It may end in January though. -
I just received an email from the coordinator advising me not to worry about providing past proof. She went on to say that during my initial appointment next week the doctor will ask me about past attempts and document them. That documentation she says is what BCBS requires to verify past weight loss attempts. She also mentioned that she has dealt with my BCBS group in the past and that the doctors documentation was sufficient.

Today I finally received the date of my first appointment. Included in the email were the insurance requirements. They are listed below. I'm not sure how I'm going to go about providing evidence of failed weight loss attempts. I've never done WW or any other type of supervised weight loss. I've always lost weight (and gained it back) on my own. Or will the medically supervised program I'm about to start satisfy that requirement? Any advice? Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance- Federal Surgical Weight Loss Requirements -BMI ≥ 40 or BMI ≥ 35 with co-morbidities who has failed conservative treatment. -Participation in a medically supervised weight loss program, including nutritional counseling, for at least 3 months prior to the date of surgery. -Evidence that attempts at weight loss in the 1 year period prior to surgery has been ineffective. - Psychological Evaluation -Patient has not smoked in the 6 months prior to surgery -Patient has not been treated for substance abuse for 1 year prior to surgery - Two years of obesity history

I have BCBS as well and have been told I need 4 months of supervised dieting. Yet my wife's cousin was approved immediately by BCBS and had her surgery within two weeks. Different groups different requirements I guess.
