  1. Small world!! I wasn't a fan of Dr. Goyal when I met him. I liked Montes the best! How are you feeling since surgery?

He's good. I had a revision but had the band removed first then had the sleeve 3 weeks later. My stomach always feel like I ate something that didn't agree with me...hate it! I was at the post op today. Got the drain removed. Boy, did that sh** hurt! There was 12 inches of tubing inside me. There was no compassion for any pain but at least I got it removed.

  3. Hi Fau2nvy, I, too, am new to all of this and we have the same surgeon! I stopped smoking 4 1/2 months ago and am trying to get on the healthy path. I'm 58 and could have written your paragraph, knee problems, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, etc. I saw my cardiologist today and he was the last step I needed to do before getting my date. Well, he wants a stress test, echo, bunch of blood work and we'll see from there where we go. I guess he's taking his job real serious and I wouldn't expect anything but. As far as taking the easy way out, this is not easy! This is the decision of a lifetime and one you will have to live with for your lifetime. They will see it's not going to be easy. Just give the girls some time. I look forward to following your journey along with mine! Take care and just give it time ....

I had to get 2 stress tests done. Let him do it. You will be fine. Proud of you!

  4. Hello I am a 29 year old woman who cannot wait to have my body back. I have been struggling with my weight dieting and just continuously gaining with small amounts of hope in the end. Now I am beginning to have the pains in my knees and the shortness of breath at night when I sleep. I was advised by my doctor to have the sleeve performed. I did my sleep study last night and the last test is my cardiologist exam which is this afternoon. I have so many questions....wat can I expect after surgery, seriously? Why does it seem that all my friends are mad at me because of what I am doing. Will I lose my friends. We are all big girls and kind of prided ourselves in it, but I am having significant health concerns and no matter how much I try to tell them they feel that I am taking the easy way out. I want to know can I restore that youth I had, the energy I had before I had my daughter, every since I had her I became this size. I never worried about my weight. I need a friend and there seems to be a lot of people who have had the surgery or about to do so. I just need someone who knows what I am going through. The anxiety I feel. I just recently stopped smoking cigarettes cold turkey after smoking since I was 13 , which is close to 16 years. I am giving up all things that are not good for me. I really just need someone who can help me through this, a little encouragement, whether you are going through it or been through it, I would really appreciate it.

They are mad cause they want you to stay the same as them. Think of your health. Heck, that's my main concern! I too have friends that are like me. Too bad if they don't like it! Kudos to you!!!!!

  5. Had my sleeve on 3-3-14, I'm post op day 20 and last wk I was re-hospitalize for dehydration. I've had it rough. I sleep a lot therefore I'm not eating like I should. It's hard. I'm still at the point where I regret it, but hoping it gets better. I go back to wrk in 3 wks so I'm hoping I get the hang of this in the next wk or so. Down 26 lbs since surgery, but not enjoying the weight loss bc I'm always sick. Please keep me posted on you guys progress

I hear you. Had mine on the 19. Still feel sick

  6. Like I wrote before I had surgery last Wednesday, March 19 today is March 24 and all I've been doing all day's crying because I regret getting it done! While I was at the hospital, I felt sick. I felt nauseous and dizzy and I had a foley, a drain sticking out of an incision and 2 IV bags at the same time. I stood at the hospital an extra day cause I wasn't urinating. I went home feeling awful but I slept most of the next day. My mind plays tricks on me and makes me feel bad cause I can't eat the stuff I want. My stomach feels lousy all the time which brings on nausea. I just hate the whole thing. Thank God for my daughter and the stuff I read here. I need to get out of this mode. Hopefully, things will get better? I hope so.

By the way, the morning of surgery I weighed 238 and this morning I weighed 230. Not enough to make me happy but not bad for being 5 days post op.

  7. I am having surgery April 12 in TJ. I am a band to sleeve. Just wondering if anyone else has experience with this? I'm worried about waking up without the sleeve. Can anyone relate?

I had the same feeling before I got the band remove. The doctor if there too much scar tissue , then he would remove and several weeks later, I would get the sleeve.

Just try to relax, don't get upset if the sleeve wasn't done.

I had the band removed in February. 4 weeks later (Mar 19), I got the sleeve. Truthfully, you will be in some form of pain. I was assured that I would getter. It's been 3 days. I'm hurting a bit. I force myself to walk and get something in my stomach.

    I'm here for you!

  8. Hello to all. Sorry for writing so late but this is the only time since the surgery that I've felt better. I too had the lap band for like three years and had it removed a month ago. Like many others, it didn't work for me. They went in for the lap band to remove it but there was a lot of scar tissue so I had to reschedule for the sleeve. I don't know about you guys but when I have anesthesia I can't recover quickly the anesthesia takes 2 to 3 days for it to get out of my body. After the removal of the band, I was having second thoughts of the sleeve. Nevertheless, I had the surgery this past Wednesday, Mar 19. When I woke up, I was the only one in recovery cause I wouldn't wake up. Finally, 6 hours later, I was moved to my room. I was so nauseous, dizzy, pain was excruciating . I was supposed to leave the next day but I wasn't urinating as much as they thought I should. I was on 2 IV's. My body was so swollen that I could not bend my knees! I had a foley attached for peeing plus I have a drain attached to a tube that's in a small hole in my stomach. I have to empty it every few hours. I was told when I go for my first OP visit, they'll remove it.

I'm still swollen but not as much as this afternoon. I'm taking a pain killer if I need it. It's a narcotic so it makes me dizzy. I'm prone to Vertigo. My doctor also said Protein Shakes and Water is the only thing I should take. I love the shakes.< /p>

I'm regretting the surgery a bit. I guess going through these discomforts, would make anyone regret.

Also my stomach is swollen and it makes me look pregnant plus I have brand-new cuts on my stomach.

  9. Had surgery Feb 12 to remove band and get sleeve but, too much scar tissue so they only removed the band. There were lots of people getting surgery but I was the only one still in recovery for 8 hours. I couldn't get out of the anesthesia. It's happened before. Oxygen level was low so I was on oxygen for the duration. Finally, I was released. I was sooo upset cause I didn't want to go back again to have another surgery but the Dr thought it was best this way. For 3 days I felt miserable cause I had 4 incisions and they hurt. The pain meds were making me very dizzy so i stopped taking them and held the pain. I was able to work after a week. I've been scheduled for the sleeve for this March 19. I'm a bit scared cause I hate to be in pain and know how sick it makes me. Hopefully, it should go well.
