The gas pain wasn't so bad yesterday as it was today! After I passed the leak test and started sipping water...that's when it really started to effect me!
I have 5 incision sites' date=' wish I would've been able to only have 1! [/quote']
Apparently there is only a handful of surgeons in the UK that can do single incision. I was lucky that one that does came highly recommended and has such a genuine interest in helping beat obesity he charges less than many others charge for the 5 port procedure to make it more affordable. A really decent guy!

I was kinda amused by it.
You know I think I came across as rather blase about it. They were quite shocked. Had I realised how rough I'd feel afterwards I might not have been so calm. Lol!

Listen guys dont be scared' date=' I was crying right up until the anesthetist put me to sleep lol , he said its normal to be anxious but he promised me I was in good hands as it was his job to take care of me the whole way through while the surgeon does his bit, and he did, i, m one day out if surgery, been in shower by myself, walking the gas off and pain is bearable with meds, I only need to be on a liquid diet today, tommorow i start pureed but i, m not hungry yet, please dont worry speak to your anaesthest there your Angels, goodluck :-D[/quote']Whoa! Pureed after one day? That seems a bit risky to me...... Are you sure that's what they said? Worried about you....
-
WOOHOO! I'm a sleeved woman!!That being said' date=' I think I'm doing ok.
I've been up to walk 4 times already, pain medicine is working wonders and the gas pains are actually worse than the incision pains!
So far so good... just REALLY thirsty!![/quote']
You know, the strange thing is, I had no gas pains at all! Very odd. Mind you, I was burping for Britain afterwards! Lol! I had the single incision procedure, I wonder if that made a difference? Answers on postcard please....:-)

Hello everyone. My surgery was scheduled for Thursday 22/8 but it has now been postponed. I live in Germany and sometimes things get complicated. My surgeon requires his patients to wear compression stockings during and after the surgery. I was measured a month ago for them. When I went to pick them up yesterday' date=' I was told that they hadn't been ordered yet. I cried. The company that makes them is located in Bavaria and will need several days to get them to me. That means Friday. I called my doctor's office and we are now hoping for Monday 26/8. I'm trying not to be so upset but I've been fighting for this surgery for a year and a half. I've been on a low carb low fat purée diet for 3 weeks. I have lost 14 pounds so, I can't complain too much about the diet. It's not horrible, just boring.[/quote']I had these strange inflatable boot things put on my legs when on the operating table, I remember asking them what the hell was going on with my legs just before I passed out. Don't you're surgeons use those? I've not heard of being measured for the stockings to have them made. My calves were measured but just to determine what size they gave me. They had many different sizes on the ward. I'm assuming that not many sleeves are done in Germany?

I for some reason wasn't scared or nervous... I still have no idea why. I was calm and I think it kinda made the nurse prepping me nervous.
Lol, I was the same, dead calm. Freaked my nurse out too!

How bout you do the 5/2 plan. Be really good for 5 days and then enjoy what you like for 2 days. You might then be able to stay good for the 5 days knowing there's a treat at the end of the tunnel. The thought of being good forever is very daunting and can lead people to 'fall off the wagon'.

You ate solids? Or is a magic bullet some kind of blender? Luckily I have a food processor. For when I go back to work I've ordered a gadget that steams and then purees foods. Is really for making baby food but if the cap fits! Lol

Hi Rob, it tasted really nice, just had another bowl for dinner. I'm over in the UK and things are slightly different here. Didn't have to do pre- op diet, just not eat for 24 hrs before surgery. My 'last supper' was a KFC. I was even allowed to drink Water until 6am on the day of surgery. ( my surgery was at 11 am). Although on an iv drip, I was taking occasional sips of water within a couple of hours of surgery. And I was not restricted to Clear Liquids in my first week. So, from the day I was discharged I've been having shakes and Soups. 13 days to go until I can move on to pureed foods and really looking forward to a pureed cottage pie! Lol!

Hey guys, hope you're not feeling too rough. When I first came out of surgery I thought ' oh my god, I've made a huge mistake' it felt so bad. But one week later and feel so so so much better! Hope you all make a rapid recovery! X

I am one week out tomorrow and I feel so good. I have lost 16lbs since last Monday evening. I don't take my pain meds anymore as of Thursday. I also feel the itchy starting on my incisions but I've heard it's a normal sign of healing. I can't wait till I can start introducing new foods because I get bored easily. Any stage 1 liquid diet ideas?Hi Rob, I'm 8 days out today and have lost 14lbs. Strangely I have felt no itching but I have district nurses coming out to change my dressing and they say its healing well. I had the single incision and have what looks like a frowning navel now. Lol! I have been having problems keeping my complan shakes down so contacted my surgeon's senior nurse practitioner who said as long as it can be sucked up through a straw I can have it. ( not allowed to actually use a straw though). So, today my mum kindly made me chicken and vegetable Soup which we blended to within an inch of its life, added Water to thin the mixture out and hey presto, a gorgeous Protein enriched soup. She also said if you add a scoop of milk powder to whatever you're having it will give you the protein you need! Gonna have beef n vegetable soup tomorrow!

Originally I was going to travel from London to Prague for my surgery and fly home one week later which was considered safe by the surgeons. Thankfully I inherited enough money to be able to have the surgery in London as I felt so rough in the first 5 days I'm not sure I'd have coped in hotel.

Thanks guys. I am currently reading 'The big book on the Gastric Sleeve' and the very first case history was a horror story where this woman got some type of pneumonia a couple of days after discharge. Then she got a leak and then another leak 6 months later. Didn't help my paranoia! X
-
Hi all, can anyone tell me at what point you are no longer at risk of a leak. Am slightly paranoid and need to know when i can relax about this. :-)

I am 5 days post-op and on the full liquids but feel hungry! I am not having a problem getting liquids in thankfully. But I feel hungry. I had a half a can of Soup then waited a bit to see if there would be any problems but am ok. Now I feel hunger pains again. Quite frankly I am freaked out about this. According to everything I have read' date=' this should not be so. Not sure what to do a d what is going on. Anybody?[/quote']I really feel for you. I had the exact same thing, a feeling of gnawing hunger that just won't go away. Or really distressed me. Day 7 now and I can say that it got better from yesterday. I still feel hunger at times but not the Godawful gnawing hunger I have been feeling. So, it does slowly get better. Hang in there! x

That will go away once u start pooping and fartingLove it! I am 7 days post-op today and can report with pride that last night I did my first, proper, fully formed poo! Lol! I have never been so excited by a bowel movement! Up till now I've had diarrhoea daily. I am so happy! Lol!

It's weird how doctors differ. For example I was on "everything" food 15 days post op while other people were either still on clear liquids' date=' all liquids or just starting puréed foods. I can have diet soda, drink from a straw and have bread. But the funny thing is that I don't eat that "bad" stuff all the time. I mostly stay with the low carb, Water, Protein first veggies second plan.[/quote']Good grief! No offence but your doctor doesn't sound that good to me. You are still at risk of a leak until at least 12 weeks after surgery and telling you you can have carbonated drinks, drink through a straw and eat bread just screams 'increasing that risk' to me. Please be careful... x

You're going back to work after 1 day? Wow! I booked 3 weeks off. Hope you're job isn't too strenuous. X
Sorry, that should have said 1 week, not 1 day.. Doh! Lol

Everyone has a different experience and I am Day 7 Post Op today. I'll be honest' date=' i had felt terrible Days 1-5 and i mean AWFUL! Headaches, backaches, rt upper arm aches, gas pains from laparoscopy & digestive system , nausea, soreness you name it! I texted a friend of mine who had lost 175 lbs since last July cause I really thought I might not make it thru i felt so badly and he said...it will pass...and it did! Day 6 felt sooooo much better! I was tired of reading posts like "no pain meds on day 2" "did i even have surgery i feeel great!" Lol. Hang in there, it WILL pass.[/quote']Hi, I'm 4 days post op today and am so glad to have found this app for my phone. I was worried that all this nausea and acid was abnormal and was getting quite depressed. Now I know its all par for the course which makes me feel alot better.
Anyone else getting sleeved in August?
