I just read somewhere about a 3 week stall. Is it possible to have this at 2 weeks? That's what seems to have happened to me......
-
Oh meee too. I got mine on 8/12 and lost 17lbs but nothing since and it's been 3 weeks
idk why.
F****ng frustrating, isn't it!

Also, anyone had 'slough' on any of their incisions? My surgeon put pressure dressing on after surgery and the bloody nurse on the ward removed it just before I was discharged. Surgeon wasn't happy when he found out and had problems with one side of the incision healing from that point forward. Going back to him tomorrow. Why do people have to interfere!

I'm having a down moment. Was doing really well and had lost 20lbs post- op. Now, all of sudden I'm gaining and my stomach looks bigger! My diet hasn't changed. Still in the first 3 weeks liquid diet and have even managed to start walking regularly so what's going on? I got my period 2 weeks early just 48 hrs after surgery so wondering if maybe my body is gearing up for another even though it shouldn't be. Any thoughts?

Mine is the 29th...woke up with a sore throat today...hopefully it goes away by then.Oh bad luck! I had 2 surgeries cancelled due to illness before got sleeved. Third time lucky. Hope your sore throat passes.

They do a lot of sleeves and bypass surgeries here now. I think it's increased in the past 5 years. I know those inflatable thingies you're talking about. I had them after my hernia surgery in Texas back in 2009. I don't suppose they use them here. The compression hose are standard for all surgical procedures here. They offer them in the hospital but even the XXXL wouldn't go past my knees. I have massive legs. The insurance finally approved me for one pair of these compression stockings. They cost almost 900 euros. The doctors told me that I'll need to wear them for 6 months after my surgery. It's supposed to help the skin regenerate and sag less during the quickest part of the weight loss.
Ah, my stockings are only knee length anyway. I've not heard of the skin thing. Sounds great. I just ordered some Adonia Stemutone cream. Once my incision has healed I will be applying it twice daily. Apparently it'd fantastic!

How long was your hospital stay? What should I take with me? Will I be feeling totally horrible?Mine was two nights. I took my laptop, kindle, books etc., and in the end used none of them. Felt rough and slept alot. Just take a book. Clothes wise, night wear, underwear and something loose fitting and comfy to travel home in.

Hi' date=' my name is Debbie, I was sleeved on 19/08 at the Princess Margaret hospital in Windsor. All has gone very well. So relieved and pleased. On liquids until Tues when I can hv a thicker Fluid, ie mashed potatoes with Garvey so it's runny. Stewed fruit. I've been having W.W Soup, milky coffee with skimmed milk, bouillon, natural fat free yogurts and herbal teas plus Water. Not hungry and very happy. Going for little walks and watching lots of tv.lol I'm in a great support group via my surgeons office as he operates in a few hospitals x[/quote']Hi Debbie, welcome! It's great you're not feeling hunger. Sadly I still do but then I do get acid alot, even before surgery, so it could be that. Mind you, given what I'm taking in daily, I'd have felt ten times as hungry without surgery. I have one week left until I move on to pureed. I am so looking forward to mashed potatoes!

Gas pain not bad. I had one incision site' date=' I have been burping since the surgery. I've been fine in 5 days out, I did throw up today but I think I ate something I wasn't supposed to.[/quote']
Ah, a fellow single incisioner! Where did they put yours? They put mine just inside my navel so the scar doesn't show too much. Obviously I can't compare my experience to those who had 5 or 6 incisions but did read that the single incision causes more pain afterwards. I wasn't sick but did get bad nausea for about 3 days afterwards, until I stopped taking my pain meds..... That might help you?

Hi' date='I am in the UK, got my sleeve NHS St Georges Hospital in London. I find the diet so different from US to UK it can actually be quite confusing! What is your diet like? Which do you guys follow?[/quote']
Hiya, where abouts are you? I was sleeved in London too. I was told liquids for 3 weeks, puree for 3 weeks then soft foods for while and gradually introduce more solids and see how things go. liquids = anything that can be sucked up through a straw. Soft foods = anything that can be cut with a fork. By the look of the info I got I won't be back to normal foods until about 6 months. What was your advice? When were you sleeved?
-
Hi a fellow Brit here! Where did you get your surgery? I was sleeved in feb 13 and 8lbs away from goal! My best decision ever!Hiya, had mine done on 11 August by Ameet Patel at Kings College Hospital, London. 19lbs down and very happy! Where are you?
-
Hi one here' date=' sleeved April 12, 86lb down and I am aiming for 100lb. My weight loss may be slow compared to many on here but I am OK with that. I am currently following 5:2 to try and get the last few pounds off.If you search for UK sleevers you will find another link where some Brits are.[/quote']
Welcome! :-) where abouts in UK are you? I'm only 12 days post op. 18lbs down so far. Not so bad.

I love doc Martin. Brilliant! I used to love Dr Who until Matt Smith took over. Hate him and so stopped watching. Yeah Brits, where are you all?

So glad you told me about the powdered milk' date=' its so easy to add to Soups and potato and carrot mash, just made it taste creamy, I have about 3 coffees made with milk aday :-D[/quote']
You know what else is good. A nice mug of horlicks before bed. ( just under 9g protein).

Thanks for the advice! I don't like taking pain meds' date=' but I had a pretty tough recovery and the pills I'm taking now don't make me nauseous, thank goodness! I'm doing much better today, even ate half a sugar free pudding cup and have been getting my Water in.
[/quote']
Excellent. It never seems like it will end at the time. Bit it does :-)
-
Thanks so much' date=' Mich! I hope your recovery becomes smoother also. I got up early and took my max dose of pain pills along with a Prilosec and went for a walk. Felt a little better afterward! At least I'm able to sip Water today and not feel nauseous. We can do this!![/quote']
If you can, ditch the pain relief. That's another major cause of nausea when you have very little in your stomach. I had to make a choice, pain or nausea. I chose pain.
-
You can do juices? Wow...I am on a low carb' date=' high Protein liquid diet post-op 3days. What recipes are you doing?[/quote']
I was told I could drink anything that can be sucked up through a straw. But not allowed to actually use a straw. So, have been having some gorgeous Soups ( some which contain meat). Just blitz them in the food processor and off I go. :-)

Lol! An honorary Brit. What do you get on bbc America?
-
Sadly for me, my extremely judgemental and downright nasty mother managed to find out and basically told anyone who would listen. However, I don't care who knows. I just look at this as another diet. But unlike weight watchers, I paid all the money up front. I have a hormone imbalance and had days where no matter how much I ate I would still be hungry. I simply did what I had to do to put things right and feel no shame at all. Me 1 - mommy dearest 0. Lol!

Hi all, as the UK pre and post-surgery instructions vary so greatly from the US I thought it would be nice to have a thread for us Brits to chat. Come say hello! :-)

My recovery has been much tougher than I expected.I was in the hospital 3 days' date=' two nights. LOTS of gas pain; couldn't pee, so they had to insert a catheter. The smallest sips of anything (including water) make me dry heave which is incredibly painful. My poor mom is doing everything she can to make me comfortable, but I'm still in so much pain. She is trying to push fluids, but every time I try I get the worst heartburn feeling ever and nausea. Been walking a lot but it doesn't seem to help much...the doctor said my surgery went "beautifully" and that he "couldn't have made a nicer sleeve"...just wish I was feeling better.
How is everyone else doing?[/quote']
Did they give you any omeprazole? If not, get some fast! That will help the acid and hopefully the nausea. I had bad nausea for the first 4 days. It does pass.
What is the outfit you dream about wearing after you slim down ?
