  1. Hi, haven't posted or even looked on here in awhile, but I find myself slipping into bad habits again. I am almost 6 months post op (sept 6th) and have lost 60lbs. However, I have remained fairly static since mid December and that scares me! What the hell am I doing eating Cookies and chips!

    My surgeon thinks I should/could lose 100lbs in a year, my goal is to lose 125. I hope some of you have experienced what I am and have the magic words to jolt me back into a healthy eating pattern.

    I am eating healthy meals, but it has become oh so easy to eat 2 or 3 Cookies or ice cream at night and between meals instead of something healthy. I have 2 kids and my husband is supportive but since the holidays he is on a "we deserve a treat" mode! I have laid down the law but am struggling. Help!


  2. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I can eat just about everything, although haven't tried steak yet. I'm at 12 weeks tomorrow and also was in a stall for a few weeks there, but am now down 50 lbs as of yesterday! So happy:) A long way to go but I feel good. I am no where near getting in enough fluids and if I can bump it up I know that will help the weight loss.

    So glad everyone is posting.. I thought I wasn't losing a lot. I lost fast the first 2 weeks then the past 2 weeks I was pretty much in a stall. I just lost another 2lbs the other day so I'm down a total of 42lbs since the beginning.
    What is everyone eating? I feel uncomfortable when I eat chicken... tuna and my tummy don't agree. I eat a lot of shrimp.. I was eating sushi but I don't think the brown rice was aiding the weight loss.....


  3. 9 weeks in and I'm down 46 lbs. Very happy! To SDH, I couldn't stand the chewable vitamins either. My doctor told me I could take the gummy vitamins and I'm tolerating them fine. The only exercise I've been doing is physical therapy 3 times a week for my torn meniscus. Still a work out as I leave in a sweat! It is so much better now and recently went back to playing tennis once a week. I'm also about to start a one month gym membership that was gifted to me. I hope the weight continues to come off quickly. The first few weeks was quite a shock to see 23 lbs in just 2 weeks. Has slowed down since I'm on full diet now, but I think once I kick up the exercise that will change. Hoping to be down 50 lbs by thanksgiving, and 60-65 by Christmas!


  4. Hi ladies, I'm 50 and had my sleeve on September 6th. Down almost 30lbs! I have sleep apnea and bad knees and back. Am praying all of that goes away. I feel better already. Detoxing from junk food feels good! First 2 weeks on just liquids was tough. No Protein Shakes, just Clear Liquids. wonton Soup and lipton noodle (strained) kept my sanity. 2nd phase of moist and mushy much better. Looking forward to soft textured foods starting this weekend. Had a closet full of pants that were just toooo tight and now they All fit. They are my highest size but I feel it is a small accomplishment. Going for Physical Therapy for a torn meniscus too, so that's getting some good toning exercise in. I'd been limping for a month before my surgery but didn't want to put it off! I'm glad I didn't because I'm recovering from both the sleeve surgery and torn meniscus simultaneously. Wish I could walk more but like I said, I am getting some exercise with the PT. How are all my other 50+ buddies doing?


  5. Sorry trying to learn how to work this thing. However as I mention before I am 1 week 3days post op. My doctor had us do a three day juice party and from day 4-14 we are only to drink four Protein Shakes and 48 oz of Water daily. I am always hungry and the Protein shakes does nothing for me. I tried some scrambled eggs and apple sauce today couldn't get much down. But I was wondering if anyone has any tips for me. I feel like I am going crazy. Before surgery my weight went back n fourth due to the fact that I don't eat enough it was never that I ate too much. I am a snacker and would most times skip meals due to my work schedule. I really want to make this a smooth transitions but I am getting very discouraged with this weeks foods of protein shakes. Do anyone think I can have some very cooked cabbage or Soups? I am dying here!!! Protein Shake girl lol

    Hi there, try not to be discouraged. Week one and two were hard for me too. wonton Soup saved me. I also made lipton noodle soup and strained it. It felt like comfort food. I wouldn't try any food that you don't run by your doctor/nurse first. If you can have protein shakes, what about pudding or cream soups? split pea soup saved me too. Let me know how you're doing. You can do it!


  6. I came home yesterday, stayed 2 nights in the hospital because my nausea was so bad dehydration was a concern. I am feeling better today but hoping that I am getting enough Water on my own. Will be glad when the next few weeks have passed

    Lots of luck to you! I was nauseous too. try to get in half juice/half water. apple and peach mango was tolerable to me but I got really tired of the sweetness after awhile. Wonton Soup saved me! Good luck and let me know if I can help. the first week was really hard for me, but you can do it!!!


  7. Hi There, I was sleeved on Sept 6th. Weighed in at 283. Today I am 154, almost 30 lbs! I am so happy about it! My first week was really rough. I was throwing up, nauseous, and a terrible headache on day 3 and 4. Found out I wasn't having enough calories. So early people, drink your half strength juice, it's the only thing keeping you going! Also was so disgusted by the liquid diet. I was Clear Liquids for 2 weeks. No Protein Shakes. What saved me on day 5 or 6 was the suggestion by the nurse to have wonton Soup without the wontons. Oh, and I made lipton noodle soup and strained it. I just love lipton noodle, it's a comfort food, so it made my psyche feel better. On my 10th day I had my doctor's appt. Down 23 lbs in those 10 days. I begged him to let me go to phase 2, moist and mushy. We compromised and he let me go to creamed Soups. Split pea soup that night was like Thanksgiving dinner to me! What a relief! There are so many yummy soups I've been eating. Butternut squash, pumpkin, potato leek. All from Trader Joes. And I added the Protein shakes and Jello pudding. Ahhhhh, starting to feel human again. I'll be finished with phase 2 on Friday. Looking forward to biting into something!


  8. Luwells, How are you doing 7 weeks out? How much have you lost and are there any words of wisdom for those of us just starting out? I feel like a bit of a weakling not being able to stick to the liquids.., it's soooo hard especially with my family (husband, 13 and 10 year old) eating pizza and Pasta and I'm doing the cooking!

    they say not to chew gum... although maybe that was just in the hospital? Have my dr. appt. tomorrow. should I come clean about my gross habit?


  9. I'm so embarrassed to admit this, but someone gave me the idea on here that he/she chewed some solid food to get the sensation and flavor and spit it out. I was so desperate at day 4 or 5 post surgery that I tried it. I felt an immediate relief of having food in my mouth but spit it out. I'm afraid this is a slippery slope and I'm scared that I have so little self control (still) that I would do this more than once. I fear a little food may have gone down, but so far I feel fine. I've done it a handful of times over the past few days. I'm 10 days post op. Anyone do this craziness?


  10. Hi everyone, I'll be 51 in October. Got the sleeve on Sept. 6th. Day 4 and I'm hungry, sick of fluids, grossed out by most of them. What to do? Spoke to the dr. office nurse and dietician separately. Dietician recommended wonton Soup (minus the wontons and shredded pork). I'm getting some tomorrow. I actually feel hungry and wondering what did I just do to myself? I need strength and I'm praying for it but this is sooo much harder than I thought it would be. I thought there wouldn't be any hunger. Anyone have any helpful hints?


  11. Hi there, I am having the sleeve on September 6th. Been looking on here for support. Scared of what the first few weeks will be like. I'm 50 with two children 13 and 10. I'm not telling them I'm having this done. I'm telling very few people, especially not my family! Too judgemental and I can't handle any negativity since I am committed to doing this. Of course my husband knows and is very supportive, along with a few close friends. I'm not a very good liar... what are you all telling your friends and family? Are most of you like me, not telling too many people?
