  1. I'm just going to reply so I can get updates on this steamy... I mean "buttery" thread.

I haven't had my sleeve yet but I'm already telling my boyfriend all the fun things I have planned for him. :).

be like Paula Dean & bring the buttah

  2. 4 days post op, I went for a walk, yea the worse idea ever! Now I am really feeling it! But I am dropping weight so fast that Its scary! Highest weight: 260 Surgery weight: 247 Current weight: 238 Total loss: 22lbs in 3 weeks! That's two week liquid diet and 4 days post opt!

I went for a walk this morning too...hurt like hell and I slept for at least an hour after...I think I've been drinking too fast. I had surgery on the 28th.

  3. Oh Lisa I'm so excited for you! Early in the morning is good so you don't have to sit around and wait all day and be nervous. I will be thinkin about you and praying for you tomorrow. Please let me know how it went when you are able to. Get it girl!

I will honey...I have a few numbers and will be texting when I'm able.

  4. Well, tomorrow is the big day and I get to be the first patient of the day for my Dr. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30am. I am so ready to start this new chapter of life. Yes there has been nerves and second guessing but in the end, I know I am making the right choice. I have lost around 23 pounds during my pre op diet and I am slowly starting to feel a difference already. All my chores are done, yard is mowed and I have made arrangements for someone to mow for me next week. Now it is time to sit back, relax, enjoy some lime Jello, chicken broth and Water (I am on clear liquids only today), and get ready. Good luck to all my August 19th surgery mates! I hope and pray that we all have flawless procedures followed by minimal pain and discomfort! Speedy recovery to everyone. Now bring it on!!!

best wishes to you for smooth sailing and a speedy recovery. RTR

  5. I love this thread! It allows us to see "both sides" of the journey. Many of you are already past surgery and many of us are still in the liquid diet phase. I don't know about you guys, but this liquid diet is making me tired and cranky. That makes me really scared about surgery. I'm drinking 4 Protein Shakes a day for a total of 120g of Protein and 630 calories plus drinking crystal light (which I hope counts as water...). After surgery, it will be way less than this. How in the heck do you do it?? I guess your body adjusts. But I'm nervous. Add on the nerves pre-surgery and it feels darn near unbearable already. I know I need to get busier - quit reading this board and starting getting some work done! That said, hanging out with you guys makes me feel lots better.

    Thanks for letting me ramble....

    -Angela (surgery date 8/22)

i can mix mine up a bit...I'm fortunate that way...today was eggs for Breakfast, turkey lettuce wrap & a banana for lunch

  6. Try to ensure you get enough liquids (water) and then Protein. I've found I can't worry about variety.

I do get hungry. That never changed for me. But, my choices are better because I don't do variety. It is hard enough to just get it all in.

Maybe come up with 2 weekly menus then rotate those until you're able to get it all in. Then you can add more menus to the mix. I know I can't make great choices on the sly so I have to plan if I'm going to be successful.

BTW, my nose is still very sensitive to smells. If something does not smell good, I can't bring myself to eat it.

Edit: I also have horrible nausea. I also still throw up when I eat (at least 3 times a week, sometimes daily).

I'm sorry you're still ill a lot...that's my concern too...I am not a good vomit-er. (is there such a thing as a good one?)

thanks for the tip about the 2 menus...I've been wondering how to handle that. I know I won't make a good choice if I keep trying to throw something together 5 minutes before I walk out the door!

  7. Hi! I'm new to the forums but my date is Aug 28th too. I'm really nervous but excited too. I need to lose about 120-130 lbs but I am fortunate to not have any current co-morbidities. Any one else have small children? I have a 12 yr old boy, and two girls, 6 and 5. My son is pretty worried about the surgery and although I know all the risks obesity has I can only tell him so much without making him worry about his grandparents who are also obese. So, I'm trying to help him understand why I'm making this choice for myself, and pray that he understands.

I start my pre-op diet on this upcoming Wednesday. Two shakes a day plus one small high Protein, low carb meal. No Snacks. I think I'll do ok with that, my biggest challenge will be stopping coffee. I love it! I am most looking forward to being able to buy cute underwear. I hate plus size grannie pannies and ugly bras that have straps the size of curtains!

I'd love to hear some others fears, goals, pre-op requirements...etc.

you sound like me! I cannot wait to go to Victoria and find out what her freaking Secret is!!! I have to follow the same pre-op diet, but can have a no/low carb snack...I love yogurt so that's what I'm planning. I'm in MD...I can't wait to get off of my insulin, BP and cholesterol meds...I hate that my 8 year old niece has seen me inject myself!

  8. I just got a call and my surgery has been approved for August 23rd! I'm on the verge of backing out. Scared to death! It's getting too real!

Hang in there!!! you've come so far. I'm terrified too....Aug 28, begin preop diet tomorrow...it's all going to be fine!
