    162 lbs in a year!

Wow thats fantastic, my goal is to lose 147lbs i, m down 21 already 11 days post op so I have 126lbs to go, I really hope I can do as well as you have, well done :-)
  2. Goodluck to all the sleevers having thier ops, i, m 11 days post op snd 21lb down from pre op 13 lbs post op, but I was told not to weigh myself for at least 3 wks post op because you actually weigh more after op , this is due to water retention from iv Swelling to your stomach and can take 3 wks to settle, so I am going to weigh myself 3 wks from op and that will be my official weightloss post op. My surgeon said I have to work with my sleeve, its a tool but it wont do the work for me, I have to change my diet completely, no junk food should go into our mouths after being given this chance, whats the point of wls if your gonna go try and eat pizza or a big mac or Chinese or choclate, Its not going to work if we dont change our diets and excercise, afterall we all know the reasons we got here in the first place was all the bad choices we made, so we have to embrace this new way of life and work with the sleeve not against it, its not gonna be easy but we, ve all already gotten over the hardest part and thats making a concious decision to have the op knowing our lifes are gonna change forever, for the better for the healthier for the slimmer person we all are going to become, we are going to do this my fellow sleevers, we can do it, I for one am looking forward to the journey and sharing it with everyone thats on the same path with me :-D

    My incision opened

I have exactly the same problem, my largest incision on my right side near my belly button started bleeding 2 days ago, my surgeon said to keep putting dressings on until it stopped,i went to my dr because I did, nt like the look of it and they took the steri strips off and said just keep it clean and dry, anyway as it was glued I got home and the glue has come away leaving me with a gaping incision also, I have put my own steri strips on it to try and close it because I dont want a thicker scar than needs be, I am off to A+E now to see what the drs st hospital suggest. Goodluck sorting yours out too.

    So damn hungry...

I dont feel hungry at all in fact I have to push myself to eat the 6 pureed meals i, m supposed to eat, i, m 6 days post op and the 1 st 3 days it was water and tea never felt hungry. I read they take the part of the stomach that produces hunger hormones, i, ve also read that you can get head hunger if that makes any sense?? Maybe you have head hunger, sure when you get to solids it will stop the hunger pangs.
  7. Wow really, I will have to get some Pronto, its hard getting the protien in this will be a huge help? Thanks;-)x

    Any UK sleevers out there?

Hi chrissy we, ve already been chatting but to let other fellow brits know, i, m 6 days post op and 16 lbs down including pre op diet I, m a northern girl lol and had my surgery done at thornbury hospital Sheffield although all my other pre and follow up consultations Will be at the nhs northern General hospital with my surgeon dr patel. My post op diet is 3 days liquid followed by 3 weeks pureed then soft/mushy and crispy. Then stage 4 is solid textured diet 3-6 months after my sleeve, I guess I will know through triel and error when my stomach is ready for this stage. Dr advice is no alcohol for 12 months post surgery but I know some drs in America say 6 months, I know I will attempt a small glass of wine around Christmas, which will be about 5 months post op, I may find I no longer desire a drink, but I do like a glass with Christmas dinner so i, m not depriving myself lol.

    Post-op Soup Question

Hi i, m 5 days post op and the 1 st soup I pureed was butternut squash and corriannder, its so simple to make and I have enough to last the whole wk, so I just portioned and froze it. I just used a chicken stock cube salt pepper and a clove of garlic and boiled up the butternut squash, then when it was ready to blend I chopped s bunch of corriannder and blitzed it up to a smooth consistancy, it was so goooood after my milk and yoghurt pre op diet. Tommorow I am making a chicken soup with onions and peppers with basil and thyme. :-)

    August 2013 Roll Call

Day 5 post op, no nausea or acid, walked to the drs today for my bloodtests and when I got home one of my incisions has started bleeding, its slowed down now, I think it was when I coughed, my incisions were glued, my surgeon days it will stop and its nothing to worry about, any1 else had any bleeding from thier incisions?
  14. So glad you told me about the powdered milk, its so easy to add to soups and potato and carrot mash, just made it taste creamy, I have about 3 coffees made with milk aday :-D
  15. 8/19 I came home yesterday, concentrating on fluids mainly, my surgeon said I may not feel hungry for about 10 days post surgery and to just drink a protien meal, I am allowed pureed now, it has to be a smooth custard consistancy and I follow that for 3 wks. My husband has made me a batch of butternut squash and corriannder soup, I have frozen it in portions, I can manage about 3 tablespoonsful per meal and I have to try this 4-6 times a day. I have made a strawberry rasberry and banana smoothy mixed with milk to get some protien in, it is the 1 st drink in a morning, takes me a couple of hrs to drink around 3 oz but its going down and giving me some goodness. I haven't had any problems keeping anything down, I am tender around my incisions but that is to be expected when you, ve had major surgery. Just gentle walking is what my physio advised. No running before you can walk, listen to my body if i, m sleepy have a nap under no circumstances am I to lift anything as we are healing on the inside and scare tissue can accur if I overdo it. Feel that I am healing properly 4 days post op now and feeling good. :-)
  16. I, m glued too and the most painful incision is where they pulled my stomach out too, thats the one they must stretch the most, hope your making a good recovery. Painrelief is helping me but i, m gonna lower dose tommorow to just paracetamol.
